I used to be a regular, sad what happened to this place. Feels like it was the beginning of the end when they shrank their menu significantly and removed most of the actually good items that also made them unique. Since then, the food quality keeps dropping while the food also keeps getting more and more expensive for smaller portions. I used to recommend this place to others as one of my favorites, but I simply cannot do that anymore. If you eat here now, you'll get incredibly ripped off while being served half-seasoned, half-cold, lazily prepared basic breakfast items that you can easily make at home. If you want an actual, tasty, breakfast for a much better price, you'll have to go to Ideal Diner instead. Otherwise if you believe in overpaying and wasting money just because a restaurant has "cute" decor, I suppose the new Mary Ellen's is the place for you. So incredibly sad what Mary Ellen's has become.

Mary Ellen’s is a regular spot for me and my husband. It’s the perfect little coffee, sandwich, and chill weekend brunch spot. We love that you can easily order ahead online, the food is always fresh, and the service is excellent. They also update the menu frequently with seasonal items which keeps it interesting.

A friend and I stopped in for breakfast on Saturday. The place was crowded with young people, almost all of them swiping or texting on their phones. We were told we needed to wait for a table. I noticed that three of the four booths were occupied by one person each, and we were told the last wrap around booth was being kept open in case a party of three or four came in. So we waited for one of the three small round tables to open up. Waitress came after a few minutes, took our order and told us if we wanted water that we could get it ourselves from a cooler that was up front. I went to get water, the cooler was empty. I let the waitress know and she told me someone would fill it. (I checked it when we left, still not filled) The food, when it came was nothing special, small portions, breakfast potatoes were small cubes eaten in a couple of bites...eggs were cold, no butter for toast... my juice came halfway through breakfast. The bill came close to thirty dollars.. We will not go back. There is nothing cute or adorable about this place, unless cold food and poor service is your idea of cute and adorable..Nothing to recommend here..

Wonderful place with an excellent menu of breakfast and lunch dishes. The atmosphere is very chill and the interior is gorgeous. I would recommend trying the cold press lemonade for a unique but tasty drink. Any sandwich on the menu is sure to please!

Lots of good choices on the menu and the prices are super good (they should charge more). I typically just get coffee and a pretzel (sub in the spicy sauce) for breakfast or do a sandwich for lunch.Portion sizes are home / European sized so you can eat here every day and not get fat.The menu shifts by a few items every few months so there is often something new to try (or ignore) when you come in.

One of my favorite restaurants in Minneapolis (if not my favorite). I love eating here and getting takeout. If you’re looking for a place with incredible midwest comfort food that makes you feel warm inside, look no further.

My friends and I were looking for a lowkey brunch place and we were blown away by Mary Ellens. The knophela soup is to die for, the wait staff is lovely, and they have so many interesting and delicious baked goods and drinks. We couldn’t stop thinking about their food and so we had to go back the very next day to get more. I can’t recommend this place enough, the food is comforting and simple, and the atmosphere is so cute.

This place is adorable!! A whole food menu + delicious coffee shop coffee options. They had seasonal food and coffee options which was quite delightful. The breakfast was super yummy and my mocha was to die for! Very cute indoors, not a ton of seating options though so be aware of that!

This place is great. Reasonable prices and everything we have tried on the menu so far has been great. Calm atmosphere too. Fun decor. My wife and I frequent it for breakfast but it’s also a good spot to take out of towners to.
