“I was staying in the University of Minnesota and this place was a life saver when I did not want to eat in the dining hall. Their falafel sandwich was genuinely some of the best falafel I have ever had and their fries were undoubtedly the best fries I have ever had. The service was super quick and we got our food in under 10 minutes consistently. The staff was super friendly and the restaurant had a great atmosphere to it. Would strongly recommend if you are in the area!“

Chicken with Rice
Side Lentil Soup

“One of the best—if not the best—Somali restaurants in the Twin Cities when it comes to both food quality and customer service. I especially love their lamb wasla with rice—a perfectly cooked lamb dish prepared in a truly unique way. Whenever I’m near the cities and need a good meal, I make it a point to visit this restaurant, no matter the distance. I’ve been dining here for the past ten years, and their dishes have consistently been delicious. The flavors even remind me of Mandi meat from Saudi Arabia. The service is outstanding as well, especially thanks to the server Abdihakim, who is incredibly welcoming and friendly.“

“Today was my first time having Naf Naf. I accidentally ordered to the location a few blocks away, yet the man working at this location called them and was able to make it here for me. I appreciate him going above and beyond to help! I really didn’t expect that, I feel so grateful. The food was fantastic- so fresh and full of flavor. The pita bread was sooo soft, chicken was juicy, and the sauces were perfectly balanced in flavors! I’ll be back! 😍“

“Wally's Falafel and Hummus in Minneapolis offers a satisfying experience for anyone craving Middle Eastern flavors. The highlight of the visit was definitely the food—especially the hummus, falafel, and shawarma. The hummus was creamy and well-seasoned, perfect for dipping or eating on its own. The falafel had a crisp exterior with a soft, flavorful center, showing it was freshly made. The shawarma was tender and packed with spices, making it a standout item worth coming back for.

While the core items were excellent, some other parts of the menu, such as, the sambousek, and arrays (maybe assorted sides), were just okay. They weren’t bad, but they didn’t shine as much as the falafel, hummus, and shawarma. These items could use a bit more flavor or refinement to match the high standard set by the main dishes.

The service at Wally’s was another strong point. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and made the experience comfortable. They were attentive without being overbearing, creating a relaxed and pleasant dining atmosphere.

Overall, Wally’s is a great spot for falafel and hummus lovers, with room to grow on a few other menu items. I’d definitely return for the shawarma alone!“

Kalsan Restaurant and Cafe African •
2532 25th Ave S, Minneapolis

“The best East African restaurant in the Twin Cities hands down! I go to Kalsan at least once a month to get the Chicken Suqaar with rice, it's one of my favorite dishes in the city. They recently remodeled the interior too so I tend to sit down instead of ordering take-out now. Great place!“
