I’ve only had takeout, but it’s always crowded and the food is absolutely delicious. Really love the southside hash! It’s also awesome to see a menu where most (if not all) items can be made vegetarian or vegan.
kind staff, wonderful menu, fun baked goods and drinks. great spot to take your vegan friends and enemies!

Modern Times has a cool, creative/artistic vibe to it. The cafe is bright and the staff are friendly. I love that they offer several GF options an entire vegan menu. The miel is delicious and their breakfast sandwiche on GF bread was amazing.

We went to Modern Times for the first time on Sunday at 1pm. When we got in, there was quite a wait (~20 mins) - this didn’t deter us away though because it must be good if they’re so busy, right? Damn, right it was good!Food: We ordered the Good Morning Healing Earth w/ tofu, the Chakra Khan w/ tofu, a chai latte w/ oat milk and a vanilla oat milk latte. Everything was delicious! I love how the ingredients are local and organic. The way everything was seasoned was phenomenal!Service: Service was incredible too (for them being so busy)! Everyone was so attentive and extremely nice.Parking: Parking might be a little difficult - street parking only.We loved the food and service so much, we came back for lunch the next day! Keep in mind, they’re only open until 3pm.
FANTASTIC cafe. Not a shred of pretentiousness here, just real staff in a pleasant setting with a menu which is built to make any Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Vegan or Carnivorous Gluten-Eating Dairyful person swoon. The dishes are extremely customizable to any dietary need & they are delicious. I love the roasted beets side, Southside Scramble & lemon ricotta cakes. The house-made chai is at least equal to, if not the best chai latte I've ever had & it is only served with Oat milk. Definitely a favorite.Vegetarian options: PlentifulDietary restrictions: Vegan, gluten free & dairy free options are MANY

So pumped I could get a vegan and gluten free French toast. Try the winter warmer- it's delicious! My friend had the pastrami hash vegan and gluten free and she loves her dish too.Vegetarian options: Lots of vegan options too.
Best diner in the TC's. Best staff, coffee and lattes, and menu options. Best ever. Not to mention, their merch! Best shirts and their hot sauces are stellar. Word of advice: get there when they open, or you'll wait. The booths and music are great for big groups or 1:1's.

Modern Times Cafe in NYC serves up a vibrant brunch experience, but be prepared for a considerable wait on weekends and tight seating arrangements. The bustling atmosphere reflects its popularity, yet the downside is the time constraint - you're allotted just 90 minutes to enjoy your meal. Despite these challenges, the diverse menu and energetic vibe make it a compelling choice for those willing to navigate the crowds for a flavorful brunch in the heart of the city.
