Other than the Churro's, the food was unremarkable to below average. I wouldn't go back.

I would not recommend this place at all. They have great options for salsa dips but the chips are always stale so it ruins the entire experience. The entrees lack flavor but the drinks are good. It’s pricey for the below than average food so will never go back.

Vegetarian options: No flavor in vegetarian options.

Super good food in a super nice area - we love going to Nico's whenever we're nearby.

Patio is nice and spacious, and the servers were very helpful and always checked up on us.

Food is always great, but it is starting to get very expensive for the quantities.

Great spot to try!

I heard about Nico's twice since I was here in Minnesota. The first time, I was supposed to meet up with some college friends and dine in. This time, my brother told me about it, so I felt that it was a sign from the taco gods to partake in some fine dining.
Nico's is a family-friendly restaurant. Upon entering the establishment, you see all walks of life there. Young and old alike, there was a healthy mix of people there, and that is always a good sign. The weather was amazing, so we decided to dine outside. When I walked through the indoor portion of the restaurant, there was great decor. I loved the huge portrait of a woman that greets you as soon as you enter. There was plenty of seating. There was no wait, but the restaurant most definitely was not empty.
The service was fantastic. One thing that stuck out to me here at Nico's was the speed. We ordered everything at the same time, appetizer, drinks, and tacos. It seems like everything came out as fast as we ordered. Their menu was very simple, and I was glad the service was on point because I did have a plane to catch.
As for the food, the variety of tacos here stood out to me the most, I'm not sure the last time I said to myself, "I've never heard of this taco before." I've been doing this taco thing for most of my life, but this menu had some that I just had to try, like the scallop and calamari tacos. My favorite by far was the calamari tacos. The texture was perfect, and the sauces that they had in the taco were amazing as well. I also continued my octopus streak and tried the octopus ceviche while I was there, nothing spectacular about this dish, but I wanted to try it. Nico's is a no brainer if you ever have the chance to stop by, please do!

We have eaten here a few times and our most recent trip was a thorough disappointment. We had family from out of town and our toddler with us, and despite expressing the need to order and eat quickly due to our son running up on his bedtime, we waited over and hour and a half before our food came out. Our server kept apologizing for the delay, but something must have happened in the kitchen as tables seated after us were getting their food, bill and leaving before we saw our entrees. We finally had to make the call to split up our party to send our toddler home hungry, and when we finally asked to either cancel the food order or box it to go, it came out 10 mins later plated for dine-in and cold to the touch. We boxed it up ourselves and left, the full bill was brought promptly with no accommodations made despite Nico’s simply not delivering an acceptable dining experience. I even reached out to the restaurant afterwards to detail the whole experience as feedback, it went unanswered. They do not care or prioritize diners experience.

I would absolutely NOT recommend this place. While the place was super cute and had great vibes, the service and experience was terrible. The food came out super fast which was nice, but it came out before we even received our drinks, which was weird. I ordered a chicken quesadilla, but was brought a BEEF quesadilla and took a few bites. Shortly after, the food runner brought another quesadilla and told me that I was given the wrong one. I haven't eaten beef in 10 years and after I was given the wrong one I had to box up the chicken one because I completely lost my appetite and was nauseous from the beef I just ate. I know mistakes happen and I could have looked past it -- but this situation was completely overlooked after I told our server what had happened. She didn't offer to make it right in any way (another drink, chips and salsa, comp the quesadilla, etc. NOTHING). Don't go here if you have any sort of allergies or dietary restrictions as they don't care at all. I won't be returning.

If you are Mexican do not come here. Frankly it was insulting. The tacos come with no salsa. I could not believe my eyes. Ok, now a small thing. They were out of elote, which I understand. Totally cool.

Sitting here right now and the shrimp tacos as well as the pastor tacos taste like cardboard. No seasoning. As a Mexican I wish I were kidding. We had a date here and both of us disliked the food. Super disappointed because the set up outside is so nice. The flavor is just not there. I’m rooting for them to succeed but Jesus that was bad.

Other things of note for my Mexicans. A side of rice is $6.
Roasted onions on the side are $4.
Price your items as you see fit. I understand.

If you want true upscale Mexican in Minneapolis go to Colita. Amazing place. If you want tacos go anywhere but Nico’s.

EDIT: Someone in leadership came to talk to me right away as we were walking to my car. Very kind guy. I’m sure they’re awesome people but as I mentioned to him the food was bad. They’re very popular in the neighborhood so take my review with a grain of salt. But if you’re Mexican definitely take the review on its face.

The food is pretty good. Service is solid, too.

The house salsas were fun, and the meats were good. But the tortillas fell apart quickly, and nothing was "wow."

Overall, it was a fun night out, but I don't think it's worth a Round Two.

The food here is pretty good, I had the chicken tinga and the mushroom taco. The chips are thin and salty, really good. And good salsas! The house margarita is excellent!

If you’re la raza, you’ll get a bad table, little wine and old churros, so stale you could knock someone unconscious.
