I swung by tonight and it looks like they are closed for good?? So sad!! This place was amazing. Best Mexican food in south Minneapolis. Really surprised that they are no longer open. Owners - Please respond to my review if I am incorrect :-(
This place is amazing! The barbacoa taco was incredible but my favorite might have been the cauliflower tinga. I absolutely loved the mojito margarita, it was super fresh and delicious.
Tremendous. If I could give 100 stars I would. The eggplant fries were among the tastiest eggplant I’ve ever had. Remarkably good happy hour (highly recommend) and the rice and beans side is absolute comfort food — especially during Minnesota winters. Cannot wait to go back!!!
What an amazing experience. Some of the best tacos I have ever eaten. Everything tasted amazing and a step above your normal taco faire. Service was quick, but they did make a couple small mistakes. They corrected them in a quick and friendly manner. We had the Carnitas, Barbacoa Cauliflower Tinga and Fried Fish tacos as well as the cheese dip and churros. Great flavors all around and would order it all again. Drinks were amazing too! My only complaint is the music was too loud and it was hard to have a conversation with the person sitting right next to me.
Definitely worth a trip. Food was delicious, fresh and fast. Comfortable set up. Burrito was absolutely delicious!! Owner/ chef was there too which is always a good sign. Will be going back!
Bright flavors and top notch ingredients. Get the Yuca fries. They were served so hot we could barely eat them, and with the mayonnaise dipping sauce they were delicious thick Potato-like treat bombs. We got two tacos- asada (delicious!) and shrimp tempura (very good). Also got a two pork tostadas. Very very good. Spicy Margarita gets a 4 out of 5.
Have been here half dozen times and does not disappoint. Best tacos I have had in Minnesota. Consistent quality. Low key atmosphere inside and friendly staff.
Great little taco bar in Minneapolis! The service was attentive and speedy. The nachos were stacked and loaded up nicely.Tostadas were fresh and perfectly builtAnd the tacos, all the different varieties, are fresh, tasty, and the amount of fillings in each one exceeded our expectations.I would definitely return the next time I'm back in the area.
I took my parents out for margaritas and tacos at Prieto and we all loved it. We each ordered 3 different tacos. None of them disappointed, but the carnitas taco was my favorite. Next time I’m going to order the Yuca fries. Those looked delicious. The vibe was very fun. Family friendly, but also grown-up somehow.
We love Prieto! The carnitas is perfectly seasoned and roasted. Not too mushy and not so heavily seasoned that you can’t taste the meat. I’ve never had anything on the menu that wasn’t delicious. The staff have always been very kind as well. We eat here regularly.

Stop it. This place is SO good! I'm all about the sauces and this place wins the sauce game. Although I wasn't a huge fan of the salsa, everything else was on spicy and flavorful in the best way. The pork was tender in the rice bowl and the shrimp tempura tacos were amazing. The churros we're the best I've had in a long time. I'm looking at forward to going back again.
We got the squash flower taco, the shrimp tempura taco, and the Cubano sandwich. The squash flowers were an excellent texture and well balanced when complemented with the charred corn. The shrimp tempura had the perfect crisp. The cubano was good but not great but the fries were surprisingly tasty. We also shared a margarita which was sweet and salty and served in a cute mini fish bowl. The service was excellent. Overall, surprised by the spice but not in a bad way. 4 stars.
First time visit and the food was delicious!Food - I ordered a brisket chipotle taco, chips and salsa, and a coke. The chips and salsa came our first with a red, smokey flavored sauce along with a green sauce. Both sauces were unique but the red sauce had more flavor overall. The taco had a generous amount of tender and tasty beef wrapped in to soft corn tortillas holding up a bed of slaw with a green sauce on top. The taco tasted amazing but not overpowering on the heat.Staff - The staff were friendly and helpful when I placed my order. I talked briefly with one of the owners and they were friendly and engaging.Atmosphere - This is very different from a typical Mexican restaurant and the atmosphere is laid back. The lighting was low, the music was upbeat and modern but not loud and overpowering. Lots of table seating with a full bar.Overall, a pleasant experience and a great place to meet up with friends for a taco or chat. Definitely on my list of return visits
Fabulous tacos! It lived up to my expectations! Compared to my other favorite taco places in the twin cities! Juicy tender brisket tacos! YUM! So Flavorful!
I've eaten pretty much everything on the menu and I can attest that it is all very delicious! We go here at least once a month, sometimes once a week! Give it a try, you'll love it!
