Terrible. The Mapo Tofu was sweet and not spicy in the slightest. The chow fun and fried rice were basically white in color. The turnip cake was cut too thick and not crispy. And on top of that, $3 for rice at a Chinese restaurant. If you're out here giving this place 5 stars, you are either being paid or your opinion on food is unreliable.
Best Chinese food in Minneapolis, absolutely no contest!
Wednesdays they do happy hour all day, great cocktails and great value.
5/5 really good food!
I've been to Rainbow Chinese a couple times, and I've ben consistently super impressed with their service and their food. I recommend either the Tiger mock duck or the ma po tofu, which they make with just the right pork to tofu ratio, as far as I'm concerned (a rarity in the Twin Cities...)
The staff are super friendly. They recently started doing bar service on Wednesdays, so I stopped in for one of their fancy lemonades and dinner, and it was fun chatting with the bartender a bit. Although the price is a little bit high compared to my other favorites, I think it's definitely worth it. And it rules that they have off street parking!
Best Chinese food in Minneapolis!
Food tasted like old fryer oil. Service was pretty weird. Tried to send the sesame chicken back but nothing could be done. Oh well. At least they work with local farms so that’s cool.
We’ve been here a few times now and it never lets me down. The bean sauce is especially good and I love exploring the interesting drink menu. The schezwan wonton appetizer is worth trying. The atmosphere is casual and the service is friendly and attentive.
*I’m adding a note to say that we ordered food through Door Dash and unfortunately it was not even close to the dine in experience that we’ve had. The beef in the Beef and Broccoli was dry. The General Taos Chicken did not resemble the dish that we received while dining in the restaurant. That said, I will definitely dine there again but will avoid delivery.
The egg rolls are the best!! Thumbs up for the honey walnut shrimp, too! This place doesn't disappoint!
Quite an underrated restaurant, I really love the green beans, wontons, and the eggrolls.
My only complaint would be I wish the FOH service was a little better. Standard practice of prebussing and making sure guests have full water glasses, and checking in on them right away after they get their food goes a long way.
Delicious wings and honey walnut shrimp

The main entree dishes such as sesame chicken & beef and broccoli were underwhelming and lacked flavor :/
The best Chinese food I’ve had in a long time. Wow, so fresh and light. I forgot to take pictures before we started because it looked so good!
