The dining room area could use a little bit of an update. They have multiple little banquet rooms for larger parties. “Service with a smile” made it more welcoming and comfortable.
I ordered so much food!!! I do this all the time when I go to a new place. I want to try it all! The plates in the photos were SO good! Singapore noodles, half order of steamed Chinese broccoli, salt n peppa wings, and crispy golden garlic with shrimp.
I have a ton of leftovers and plan on eating this beautiful food for the next couple of days.
This is a definite “get in my YAP” as fast as you can moment with tiny chopsticks at hand.
I’m coming back to try more dishes once my leftovers are all eaten up. Whist with me?!?!
Oh… My… Dang!

The guy at the counter could not explain anything to me it sounded like he was asking for a tip for takeout when I picked up my order. I got the wontons and they were honestly probably the most dry wonton I’ve ever had there was almost no filling in any. The lo mein was pretty flavorless. The chicken wings were dry and not crispy and didn’t taste like anything but chicken. The only saving grace which is why I gave it two stars is the sesame chicken. A waste of money and time.

We always have good experience with Shuang Cheg. I've been going here since I was in my 20s. The people know us well, and service is always great. The staff is friendly and the good is good. My favorite is the baked squid. Can't find anything like it at any other restaurant.

The best Cantonese in Minneapolis. This place has been open longer than I have been alive – My family has been going here since I was born, almost 40 years. You have to eat family style: seafood pan fried noodles, squid with golden fried garlic, beef with preserved vegetables, whole fried walleye with hot meat sauce.

This restaurant has many rough edges. In my mind, this is like a B movie. It's unsophisticated, but it glows on you and you become an unintended cult member.
The dinkytown is dinky no more with new buildings in every direction you look, but once you step into this restaurant, it's like traveling back in time. I had dined here when I was a fresh college student 30 years ago. It was cafeteria-like and the food was good but not something you write home about. As students, this was the place for affordable and decent Chinese food to enjoy with friends.
Today the place still looks the same. There's the light box on the wall with the same poor handwritings and prices that were obviously overwritten many times. It's like the place is frozen in time. The only thing that changed are the people and of course the prices.
Back to the food. It's Chinese American food on steroids. The dishes are good but overly drowned in sauce. They are perfectly acceptable, just don't compare them to real Chinese restaurants, with one exception. My absolutely favorite dish here is the ginger lobster with noodles. The freshness of the lobster and noodles soaked in the umami of the ginger and lobster made this dish out of this world! They absolutely nailed this.

Lunch combo… insane deal. And tea with every dish ?
Was pleasantly suprised at how amazing it is. The place’s atmosphere is really calm and cute. Feels very authentic. They give free cold water and hot oolong tea in a pot to start which was soo nice.
The menu is huge and so many good options, and the prices are so cheap!! I ordered the orange peel chicken with fried rice and pork roll as a lunch special. It was so delicious, much better than I expected. I felt very stuffed and satisfied and my meal was under $12.
The service was very good too. Staff were friendly. I forgot an item on the table after leaving and when I returned to look for it, they had kept it there on a shelf for me.
