UPDATE (11/06/25): There has been an incredible change here, since the previous owners sold this part of the business and it's not good. The quality of the food has gone down drastically. The photo below is supposed to be sesame chicken. I did get a few pieces of chicken, but the bulk of that entree is crystalized sugar and sauce! I would NOT recommend eating here. I sure won't

(Old post) I go here frequently for lunch. The staff is amazingly warm and welcoming. The food is ALWAYS hot and fresh. Fantastic place to eat great Asian food!

I don't know another Vietnamese place that serves egg rolls this large, but they are amazing, and the Pork Banh Mi is so flavorful.

I knew the original owner of this business. The food then was flavorful and consistently good. They sold the business, and now the food quality has gone down hill. The eggroll I got today for was smelly and taste like expired meat. Yikes! I also got sesame chicken, pad thai and fried rice for dinner, which I will just throw away. The pad thai noodles were not cooked! I'll take the L because I don't want to get sick. I wish the new owner live up to what Skywok was known for before: good food. Ugh!

Something happened. I started working in downtown Minneapolis in 1999. I always consider this place the best chinese vietnamese restaurant in the city. Around when COVID started, we had to move home to work. I still work from home, but every now and then. I will have to come downtown and work in the office. I came down here to get me some food. It was not the same.
I didn't get to eat the sesame chicken because they were out of it. I think I came too late now. You got to come early. Everything closes much earlier than in the past. The egg roll, what's not good at all. It was pretty dry to me. I believe they fry them, but this didn't taste fried to me. It tasted baked, it just didn't have that saying crispiness and flavor on the outside that the egg rolls I used to eat would taste in this vietnasa egg roll. Iwas told by the original owner that they half Vietnamese and Chinese and made both type of dishes. The new owners are other family members from my understanding, but the food just is not the same. The friendliness is still there, but the food lacks what it used to be. Our office used to do a lot of catering for all kind of occasions. Like I said, this was the best restaurant to get chinese vietnamese food in downtown Minneapolis and to me, in the twin cities.

This place is okay. Used to be better like others have said. For me, the price point and portion size are still reasonable compared to other skyway lunch spots. They may be a bit adjusted, but I don’t need more food than what they give. My issue is the food doesn’t taste as fresh anymore. When the previous owners/staff were there they were constantly in and out of the kitchen restocking the steam table, freshening up the supply. Everything always looked tempting. Stuff now has the appearance of sitting. It just hasn’t tasted as good the last few times I’ve gone. The woman who used to be the main person behind the counter was awesome at her job too. I miss her. Hopefully they can bring it back to what it was, because it was a great lunch option!

I was craving Asian cuisine and found Skyway Wok based on reviews. Be aware, it has very limited opening hours (only open for breakfast and lunch) and it’s tucked away on the second floor of an office building, so it’s not the easiest place to locate.

The space itself is small and a bit chaotic during lunch hours, definitely not a relaxing spot to sit and dine, which is one reason I’d give it 4 out of 5 stars. But this is a perfect takeaway spot.

I ordered the orange chicken with fried rice, and wow—you get a lot for your money. I couldn’t even finish it all, and it was packed in an easy-to-carry takeaway box. From what I’ve gathered, this is among the most affordable meals available in downtown Minneapolis.

Sad to say it. But this isn't a place to spend my money anymore. Have been coming here for over 6 years. Last 6 months this place fell off a cliff. Food is just not good anymore, plus rude service and smaller portions. Breaks my heart .

I can tell the original owners are no longer there and cooking the food. I got the spicy chicken wings, Egg Roll, Chicken Fried Rice and Spicy Pork Noodles, this is what I get all the time, all of the food was not good. Spicy chicken was not spicy, the Egg Roll tasted bland and was not cooked all the way through, the Chicken Fried Rice had no flavor and hardly had no chicken in it. The Spicy Pork Noodles were not spicy and taste bland. This is what I use to love to get, none of it was good, I wasted my 17.00 dollars. I use to love all of the items I got, use to be the BEST Egg Rolls downtown, not anymore, sad the original owners are gone. I also notice the line was not long, use to be wrapped around the restaurant, I won't be going back. Very disappointed. :( Not to mention no one was greeted when you walked in, the floor felt really greasy I was literally watching my step so I would fall.

This restaurant has been sold and new owners raised the price and not adding all ingredients. So yhe food is not the same. Don't waste your money eating here.

Picked up an order for DoorDash and they had the order just sitting in a container with no bag. I could see the food sticking out of the container, but they still didn’t put it in a bag. When I asked for a bag, the guy working just pointed and said there’s the bags. I would not order delivery from here. They don’t care about how they package, or ship your food. Bags don’t cost that much. Common sense dictates putting to go orders in a bag when they’re being delivered by a third-party company.

(DATE: 2025 June 11) Huge caveat to anyone coming here! Look carefully at the dates on the reviews you are reading!

They have greatly REDUCED the portion sizes while increasing the prices. To this day, a three item combo (Ex. Fried Rice + item1 + item2) comes to almost $15! The last few times I went, I only did so to punish myself because I continued to believe that I happened to be unlucky 4 or 5 times in a row - I am not unlucky, just stubborn. It is clear that the new servers there will no longer pile on the food like they used to.

If you are a smart consumer, disregard any reviews older than a few months to this date (Again, DATE: 2025 June 11). Those reviews are relics of the past, and can no longer be reliable. You'll note many of the newer reviews indicate the same!

I'd like to note, even with the reduced food amount, each meal probably still delivers enough sugars, cholesterols, and fats to independently feed you for the next day. Perfect if you need to incapacitate yourself for afternoon meetings.

Been coming here for the past 8 years. The prices were great for the amount of food you got. I know that prices are up everywhere, I get it. The prices went up, the amount and quality of food has diminished considerably. Today was the last straw. I ordered chicken fried rice, little to no chicken in it. It was literally veggie fried rice. Its just not good anymore. The lines aren't as long as they used to be either. I'll be going elsewhere from now on.

Final update: This was the nail in the coffin for me. I don't know if they're under new management or what is going on but they just get worse. I was in a pinch today, rarely go here anymore because of my last bad experience, but today I didn't have time for breakfast or to pack a lunch and I was super hungry so I popped upstairs to get some lunch....there was a huge fatty piece of chicken in my cashew chicken (that was supposed to be kung pao chicken, by the way because they didn't update their menu on doordash), that tasted like old fish! That usually means the chicken was rancid so...... I will never eat here again. I will hustle myself down to Whole Foods and back or Andrea Pizza or something if I find myself in this position again. It's just gone downhill so badly over the past year or two.

I've been a customer here for over ten years but when I came in to pick up my order last week, they asked for proof it was my order - fair enough, but when I showed them the email, it wasn't good enough. I don't have the doordash app anymore, so I couldn't show the actual order itself, but I had the confirmation email, the receipt email and the email and text saying it was ready to pick up and she still argued with me about whether it was my order or not. Even with proof that I paid for it and it IS mine, she wouldn't give me my food until after like, 5 minutes of arguing about it! I was made to feel like a criminal, a thief and a bum by her and will never go back again. Not that it makes a difference to their bottom line, but it is rather disappointing since I do like the food quite a lot, actually. I had a super busy day at work, I was already late for an appointment, was just going to pop upstairs real quick to grab my food before they closed and go back to my appointment, but no, it held me up an extra 5 minutes, got me embarrassed in front of all the other customers since they were accusing me of trying to steal someone else's order basically, put me in a terrible mood to go back to work in and ruined my whole day.
