Excellent service and vibes. The sweet potato fritters are incredible!
I really liked the experience here. We had a group of ten, which they handled well, but it was definitely a large group for the setting. All of us commented positively about their meal choices. We also shared two appetizers that we really good. I am not sure what they were called. One was a califlour dish. The other was marshed sweet potatoes shaped into balls with a hardish, dark colored shell.
We went for their Tiger from Burma Salad and Cooper Burger and were thrilled to find that they now serve cocktails, in addition to their excellent dining.
You cannot go wrong with anything on this menu! You can just tell that everything is well thought out and every ingredient is purposeful. We love to try burgers around town and this one is one of the best š. Those sweet potato fritters... oh, and the WINGS! need to get them (both) every time!
StepChld has been one of my favorite restaurants since I first dined there in 2021. Went last night with a gal pal who has never been and we had a lovely time. The food was excellent, as always. Our server, Deandra, was delightful. She knew the menu very well and was able to give us honest and helpful recommendations. My favorite dishes include the Ethiopian Birria Tacos, the Lavender Nori Shrimp, the Cooper Burger, the Magic Dust Wings, and the Sweet Potato Fritters.
First stop first time in town and was one of fav spots whole trip. I didn't even feel like fish when entering but bartender recommended the cod tacos and it was one of the best single dishes had in Minneapolis. They had a perfect crisp fry on quality cod and the Lebanese slaw, tar tar sauce, and jalapeno salsa melted me in my seat at first bite how good it was all together. Great natural wines, had to come back again the last day for another round of drinks but sadly had other agenda for food as will have to come back here for any bites or dinner if ever in Minneapolis again, I'm still thinking of those tacos weeks later back home
Delicious restaurant with a great vibe and service in Minneapolis! I hope this restaurant never goes away. Wonderful date night spot and the Sweet Potato Fritters are amazing, Brussels sprouts so good and really good burger. All the food is great. One of my favorite restaurants :)
We came here for a work dinner with 8 people and they were so nice. The appetizers & dinner were both fantastic!
So great!!! We sat at the bar and the bartender/server was beyond knowledgeable and spot on about suggestions. Food fabulous! I canāt believe I didnāt try it sooner.

What an amazing place - my husband and I had a date night here, and everything was phenomenal. Bone marrow, rice with pork belly, birria tacos with berbere seasoning, and sweet potato puffs - all were amazing!! Highly recommend.

Weāve been here a number of times and have always enjoyed it, this past time the other day though was underwhelming. They were out of both pastas at 5:15pm, and our server failed to mention this to us until we were ordering (a half hour later) which was impactful because it then limited the number of vegetarian options we had. Take note that most things on the menu are fried. Always appreciate the larger servings for family style, except oddly the carrot dish had very few carrots and too much sauce. The sweet potato fritters were awesome, but sweet! Magic dust wings had good flavor but too much dust/seasoning caked on. Brussels sprouts were way too saucy, almost inedible, and over fried - barely any real Brussels pieces just all leaves. Pecan āpieā was very hard, mightāve been better warmed up? Cauliflower was our favorite. Birria tacos also great.

Sticky Cauliflower was 10/10. Burger was 10/10. Tiramisu was 10000000/10 and definitely the best I've ever had.

After watching the Guy Fieri episode, we just had to try their bone marrow! While it was rich and absolutely delicious, it's the wings that truly won us over. Wow did they pack a flavorful punch!! The fritters were a perfect ending note with their maple syrup sweetness. Overall great service, great ambience in the heart of the city. We'll definitely be back for this one.

STEPCHLD is a fantastic restaurant.
We visited STEPCHLD during a trip to Minneapolis for a friendās wedding, and were pretty much blown away by the food. We ended up splitting a bunch of shareable plates (which are all pretty large) and splitting an entree. For the shares we ordered the Tiger from Burma Salad, which was delicious: acidic, umami, and the crunch of the peanuts was nice. We also ordered the cauliflower, and really enjoyed it. I do think, FWIW, that they could/should add something spicy like a Fresno to balance the sweetness; overall, however, we really liked it. Finally for shares, we got the wings, which were honestly some of the best Iāve had. The spice rub on them was super addictive, and they were fried perfectly. Would order these wings all the time if I lived in the area. Gotta try them if you like wings.
For main plates, we got the birria tacos, which were super solid. They are a touch greasy, but thatās to be expected with Birria, and the pickled onion on the side helps cut the richness. Overall, super enjoyable.
Finally, for desert we ordered some sort of miso caramel banana pudding. This thing was killer. Seriously. Order this. Order two. We loved this dessert.
Lastly, would be remiss if I didnāt mention that our service was wonderful. I didnāt catch her name, but our waitress was super attentive and friendly, and she made some great recommendations from the menu.
Wish this place was back home. Absolutely worth the visit.
