So great!!! We sat at the bar and the bartender/server was beyond knowledgeable and spot on about suggestions. Food fabulous! I can’t believe I didn’t try it sooner.

What an amazing place - my husband and I had a date night here, and everything was phenomenal. Bone marrow, rice with pork belly, birria tacos with berbere seasoning, and sweet potato puffs - all were amazing!! Highly recommend.

We’ve been here a number of times and have always enjoyed it, this past time the other day though was underwhelming. They were out of both pastas at 5:15pm, and our server failed to mention this to us until we were ordering (a half hour later) which was impactful because it then limited the number of vegetarian options we had. Take note that most things on the menu are fried. Always appreciate the larger servings for family style, except oddly the carrot dish had very few carrots and too much sauce. The sweet potato fritters were awesome, but sweet! Magic dust wings had good flavor but too much dust/seasoning caked on. Brussels sprouts were way too saucy, almost inedible, and over fried - barely any real Brussels pieces just all leaves. Pecan “pie” was very hard, might’ve been better warmed up? Cauliflower was our favorite. Birria tacos also great.

Sticky Cauliflower was 10/10. Burger was 10/10. Tiramisu was 10000000/10 and definitely the best I've ever had.

After watching the Guy Fieri episode, we just had to try their bone marrow! While it was rich and absolutely delicious, it's the wings that truly won us over. Wow did they pack a flavorful punch!! The fritters were a perfect ending note with their maple syrup sweetness. Overall great service, great ambience in the heart of the city. We'll definitely be back for this one.

STEPCHLD is a fantastic restaurant.
We visited STEPCHLD during a trip to Minneapolis for a friend’s wedding, and were pretty much blown away by the food. We ended up splitting a bunch of shareable plates (which are all pretty large) and splitting an entree. For the shares we ordered the Tiger from Burma Salad, which was delicious: acidic, umami, and the crunch of the peanuts was nice. We also ordered the cauliflower, and really enjoyed it. I do think, FWIW, that they could/should add something spicy like a Fresno to balance the sweetness; overall, however, we really liked it. Finally for shares, we got the wings, which were honestly some of the best I’ve had. The spice rub on them was super addictive, and they were fried perfectly. Would order these wings all the time if I lived in the area. Gotta try them if you like wings.
For main plates, we got the birria tacos, which were super solid. They are a touch greasy, but that’s to be expected with Birria, and the pickled onion on the side helps cut the richness. Overall, super enjoyable.
Finally, for desert we ordered some sort of miso caramel banana pudding. This thing was killer. Seriously. Order this. Order two. We loved this dessert.
Lastly, would be remiss if I didn’t mention that our service was wonderful. I didn’t catch her name, but our waitress was super attentive and friendly, and she made some great recommendations from the menu.
Wish this place was back home. Absolutely worth the visit.

My friends and I had an excellent dinner at STEPCHLD. I know they have a new cocktail bar next door, but I kinda liked the food focus here versus an expansive cocktail list to choose from. Our server was great and walked us through the solid wine line.
The food was all wonderful. The highlights were the pork belly rice, the birria tacos, the fries with tallow, and the cooper burger. The pork belly rice was such a unique and well done dish bursting with fatty pork and curry flavor. The birria tacos were simple but delicious. The burger melted in your mouth.
We also got the sinful bone marrow which was a new adventure for all of us at the table. I certainly wouldn’t crave bone marrow in the future but it was fun to try and made for a unique, rich, appetizer. The wings and carrots were solid as well. No disappointments across the board!
Really cool and cozy place. Sweet Potato Fritters were delicious, and my partner loved his pasta. The Birra Tacos definitely felt like a miss though - was surprised basically to see rather flavorless ground beef and cheese with onions on the side. The ground beef was a surprising choice.
Service was okay I guess. No one seemed really excited to see us or check in on us, but our food came out at a decent time.

Terrible set up. Broken up into two separate rooms. The side that serves food doesn't let you order cocktails. The side that serves cocktails refuses to serve food. When you ask about either at the wrong side the servers give you attitude. Will not be coming back.

Service was really fantastic, and the cooper burger and fries were amazing!! I got the birria tacos, and I was disappointed that they were very mildly spiced. I couldn't detect the berbere spice. Also expected shredded beef like in traditional birria, but it was ground (the menu doesn't specify). All in all we will definitely be back, but I just personally wouldn't recommend the birria tacos :)

Three people. We all ordered something different. Every dish was absolutely underwhelming. I don't understand as there are only 8-9 items to choose from. Guy Fieri recommended. Check your taste buds, dude. This was NOT good. Wait staff was fabulous!
