Every person to whom we spoke was helpful, engaging and interested in our group. Shannon, our server, was especially outgoing and accomodated our every request with grace and a cheerful attitude. Very enjoyable dining experience for all, from young to old.
Wonderfull pre hockey game environment. Immediately seated with our 5:30pm reservation. Good selection of beers and bar food/small plates. Server responsive despite bring very busy. A good choice for a pre game experience.
We have visited the Beacon at least 10x. It's a great spot on the U of M Campus to have a meal with our student , to have pre-game drinks and food and just to spend time relaxing. The food is good, the staff friendly and the atmosphere is a nice "getaway" near a location that is outnumbered by college student hangouts.
Highly recommend this UMn quaint restaurant with outstanding service and good food and great cocktails. Please reference my recent previous reviews.
We were seated as soon as we arrived in a large comfortable booth as we had requested. Our server was Shannon and she was friendly and did an excellent job. Our food and drinks were tasty and made to order. We've been there several times. It's a great start before a gopher hockey game.
We checked in with the hostess and we were immediately seated in a comfortable booth as we had requested. Our server, Breta, was very friendly, pleasant and knowledgeable. She did a great job. Our food was tasty as were drinks. We had a nice meal before we went off to watch the Minnesota Gophers hockey game.
Nice to have a reservation so you know you'll be seated. Busy, crowded and NOISY on Gopher game nights. Staff is excellent at handling the rush. They get the food and drinks out in prompt fashion and don't get rattled by the crush. Short walks to the various arenas. Want to keep The Graduate a secret so I can always get a table!!!!
We had exceptionally great service. The food came fast. Always find The Beacon a dependable choice.
There on game day and service was slow. They removed us from our table because said reservation time expired and we were still ordering.
Chili was good, Korean Wings were awesome, but the Artichoke Crab dip was not good.

We stayed at the Graduate Hotel for 9 nights while my brother was in the ICU at the University of Minnesota. The staff at the restaurant were so amazing, so kind, and so catering. We would come in near kitchen-close, and the girls working would sneak in our orders, and our food was always amazing. All of the workers had such great personalities, and helped bring light to some dark days. We so appreciate the kindness from the staff at The Beacon.

Felt like I was back in the student union, circa 1982, with table service and good beer..

We stayed at the Graduate hotel 2 nights over UMN Homecoming weekend (so, busy) and ate here both nights, mainly because of convenience, and we were tired. It exceeded expectations both times! The smash burger was excellent! The chili was delish! Wedge salad was yummy. The servers and manager were friendly and attentive. The evening after the game was busy but they did a great job managing the crowd. We booked a reservation about an hour before, and avoided a 30 min wait. Would definitely recommend if in the area and/or staying at the hotel. They also have fun games to play outside the restaurant, ie air hockey etc.

I stopped by and ordered breakfast to go. I recommend the steel cut oatmeal. It was a hearty serving of oatmeal served with almond slices, brown sugar, dried fruit, and milk. I added an orange juice. A bit pricey at $13 for both, however the Gold Honors food credit offset it.

Low key under rated hotel restaurant. The crab stuffed walleye was buttery, tasty and succulent. Really nice atmosphere for a hotel restaurant.
