2 PC. Catfish, way over cooked. Corn bread, very dry. Fries over cooked. I bought 2 meals, $69.33 for over cooked and dry food. Will not order again.

Wow this food was delicious. We ordered chicken wings and catfish they were fried to perfection. Nice golden color and crispy skin. For sides we had Mac and cheese, spaghetti, greens and yams. First off the Mac was hitting. You know somebody aunt or grandmother is back there cooking. Ok last but not least the peach cobbler all I can say is go get you some it was great ? I’ll be back to this Minneapolis gem.

An easy, no frills spot to get some amazing food. I got the catfish sandwich and some peach cobbler and it's the best catfish sandwich I've had since moving back from Louisiana. Will absolutely be back again!

In the heart of North Minneapolis, on Lyndale Avenue, lies a hidden culinary treasure: the Food Bank Eatery. From the moment I walked through its doors, I was enveloped in an atmosphere of warmth and authenticity, a prelude to the gastronomic journey that awaited me.

A Glimpse Behind the Scenes

One of the most remarkable aspects of my visit was being granted access to the kitchen—a privilege seldom extended to diners. The kitchen was immaculate, a gleaming testament to the rigorous standards upheld by the staff & owners. Each ingredient was being meticulously washed and proteins marinated, reflecting a dedication to quality that is all too rare in today’s culinary landscape. The commitment to freshness was evident; not a single item in the kitchen was frozen or premade.

Culinary Excellence

The Food Bank Eatery is preparing every dish from scratch, channeling the spirit of home-cooked meals made with love and precision. Here's a look at some of the standout dishes:

Collard Greens
The collard greens were a revelation. Cooked to perfection, they maintained a delightful texture and were seasoned impeccably, capturing the essence of traditional home cooking.

Dressing
The dressing was rich and flavorful, with a texture that was both comforting and sophisticated. Each bite was a harmonious blend of fresh ingredients, a testament to the kitchen's dedication to quality.

Macaroni and Cheese
The macaroni and cheese was creamy and decadent, with a perfect balance of cheese and seasoning. It was a dish that transported me back to family gatherings, evoking a sense of nostalgia with every bite.

Catfish
The catfish was a true highlight, fried to a golden crisp while remaining tender and succulent on the inside. The marination process shone through, infusing each piece with a depth of flavor that was simply extraordinary. The mayor even put his stamp of of approval on their catfish naming it his favorite fish dinner in the city.

Spaghetti
The spaghetti was a delightful surprise, with a rich, homemade sauce that clung perfectly to the al dente pasta. It was a dish that showcased the versatility and skill of the kitchen staff.

Caramel Cake
The caramel cake was a slice of heaven. Moist and sweet, with a buttery caramel icing that was both rich and light, it was the perfect complement to the savory dishes.

Peach Cobbler
The peach cobbler was the crowning glory. The peaches were fresh and succulent, enveloped in a crisp, buttery crust. It was a dessert that encapsulated the essence of comfort and indulgence.

Easily Becoming A Daily Ritual

Despite an initial plan to explore a variety of restaurants during my trip, the Food Bank Eatery's unparalleled quality and flavor kept drawing me back. Each visit was a new adventure, a testament to the consistency and excellence of the establishment.

The Food Bank Eatery on Lyndale Avenue is a beacon of culinary excellence in North Minneapolis. With its immaculate kitchen, dedication to fresh ingredients, and masterful preparation of every dish, it stands out as a must-visit destination. The authenticity and care evident in each meal make it deserving of special recognition.
