Loved The Italian Cold Cut Sandwich with Pepperoni, Capicola Ham, Pastrami, Mozzarella, pickled cherry peppers, red onion, mayo, dried oregano, oil, vinegar, salt and pepper. I also frequently order by mail Herbie Butcher's Fried Chicken. If I lived in Minneapolis I would eat here everyday.

frozen fried chickenwas great in the air fryer. Corned beef roast for St. Pats day was great. Breakfast sausage was awesome, I could keep going. Must visit if in Minneapolis

Despite “butcher” being in the name, I personally prefer their cheeses—they are some of the best vegan cheese I have ever tried. The dill Havarti and pepper jack are my absolute favorites. I loved them so much that I even shipped a huge package to myself in San Diego. Their premade frozen mac and cheese is also amazing. I have tried their meats before, both from vegan markets in Southern California and from the storefront. Personally, I think their meats are best in a dish rather than eaten alone. We tried the steaks once, and they were just okay—not really steak-like. However, the sandwiches made with their lunch slices are great. My whole non-vegan family loves them and even offered to drive into the city (big offer from my parents!) to pick them up. Their employees are always really kind, and the shop itself is cute. Their website is also easy to use, but as a heads-up, my online orders took a few weeks to arrive. Overall, I love the concept and definitely think it is worth a visit or order. #Veganuary

The selections were incredible. I bought the Korean and Teriyaki Jerkys to try. I'm definitely glad that I did. I am looking forward to ordering from their online store when I get back to San Diego.

Been following this place on social media for years, but never got a chance to try out their products. Walked in the shop today and was amazed by how beautiful and authentic this place looks, really great job to the owners and team. Ordered two hot sandwiches, both were outstanding. The prices are pleasantly moderate and the servings are large. Five stars all the way, keep it up!

This is a takeout only establishment. It has curbside appeal and the inside is decorated to perfection. Most sandwich selections are already prepared and sitting in the refrigerator ready to go. There are no substitutions. Also, no gluten-free options. If you order the hot option it takes 10-15 minutes. I ordered the turkey dill havarti sandwich and found it very filling but not very satisfying or enjoyable. The description made it sound mouth-watering but it was a very basic sandwich. It reminded me of a school lunch. Honestly, I could have gone to Subway and ordered the veggie delite without cheese and I would have been satisfied and it would have cost 30% less. In addition, I was really hoping to like Herbivorous Butcher meats more than I like tofurky, sadly I don't.

Dietary restrictions: No gluten free bread options for the sandwiches. HB buys it certified kosher from Breadsmith and they don't do gluten free. I typically try to avoid kosher products but it can't be avoided here.

Parking: It's a nightmare right now due to construction.

I stock up on their sliced seitan deli meats when I'm in the town. They make the best sandwiches!

Cool concept! Sandwiches are delicious; just don't expect it to taste exactly like its actual meat counterpart. Everything is still very savory and flavorful.

Herbivorous butcher is ahead of its time!! We recently went here for the first time, and bought almost 1 of everything. The staff is friendly yet professional, and their products are placed in a way that makes it easy to see and know the prices of it all. It was nice to have premade sandwiches, and recommendations on how to store and freeze our items we wouldn’t be eating right away!! Reading the ingredients lists of all the items, didn’t make me worried. There’s minimal ingredients, and the ones they use are very wholesome!! This’ll be a regular stop for us, for our monthly meals going forward!!

It was a bit disappointing. Half the items on their menu weren't available. I ended up getting the tuna pasta salad. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. They are also WAY overpriced.

I had been dying to experience a vegan butcher shop and during my recent trip to Minneapolis, finally had my chance... and all I can say is, MORE!! We order some food to eat on site, it's not a restaurant, though there is some seating, which is awkward but the food more than made up for it. I ordered an Italian Cold Cut Sandwich, which I ate later (amazing), but on site my mom had the Hot Bacon Brat (hot means warn not spicy) with cheese (tried a bite and we both loved it), while I had the special, a Ranchy Bacon Mac Hot Panini (holy... ok I won't swear but you get the idea). I bought the Meat-Free snapback hat, a Nope T-shirt, The Herbivorous Butcher Cookbook and a selection of meats and cheeses to try at home, which included; Bacon Brats, Ribeye Steaks, Korean BBQ Ribs, Chicken, Maple Glazed Bacon, Garlic Pepper Havarti Cheese, Dill Havarti Cheese... absolute heaven!! The offerings are very well thought out and I can't wait to try the cook book recipes too.

Vegetarian options: All vegan, all day!

Love the mouth-watering selections of all vegan brands of cheeses and meats. Any time I am near this place, I have to always stop by. One-of-a-kind. So many things to choose from; truly one of the best vegan shops around in Minnesota. ?? ? ? Updated from previous review on 2024-03-11
