A popular watering hole near the Convention center. I've been there many times over my 25 years in Minneapolis and always had consistent service. My colleagues enjoyed this recent visit as the Local is a great spot to meet and hang out with friends.

This is one of our favorite places to eat in all of Minneapolis! We've visited multiple times. We were there again last night and had the fish and chips. The only complaint was the fries were not hot. And our server (Mariah) did not check back to see how our food was and did not refill our water. This has not been usually the case here though so we will be back!

Food is good, but employees are pretty surly most of the time. Would just prefer if they let you order by QR codes to simplify things.

Was meeting women on a dating site and had a first date with someone here. I accidentally told the server the wrong name and she sat me at a table. About 5 minutes later the server put it together and ask if I was here for another women’s name. Yup, the server brought me over to the most beautiful women in the world and we’ve been married for 16 years and have a lovely son now.
5 star staff.

We reserved a table for the holiday Whimsy pop up event. We got there and checked in and had a drink at the bar. It was beautifully decorated. I'm sure we just had a fluke situation as our neighbor table had the full experience as we watched but we were missed on card tricks and tarot readings. We really enjoyed the singing Santa and the juggling. The oddest part... We stated we wanted dessert before we ordered dinner. Our dinner came and we said we'd like the dessert too. When they came to clear our plates we asked if we could get more drinks and dessert. We managed to get a drink but no more waitress until she came with the bill because they were sending us out for the next crowd. She said we could get dessert to go our in the bar.

With two locations for the local, and a third (Kierans Irish pub) the experience is what you would expect from an Irish establishment. Old (in a good way), ornate, dark wood, high ceilings and great architecture gives it welcoming atmosphere....we were there on thurs., with a family of 7, it was lively (there was a single along event) but not overwhelming.....have 6, 7, 8 in your party? Get a reservation ahead of time, for one of the cool side rooms (5, or 6 of them?) A cool and cozy experience without paying for a private venue....(all 3 venues have different space layouts, fyi) staff was friendly, helpful, but not intrusive, which is nice....the menu has a mix of traditional Irish dishes, uniquely curated, as well as mainstream (think burger, or salads).....a long list of beers, bourbons, and whiskeys......the Irish ale on tap, was quite good, as were the fish and chips, they were done well. The food and drinks were above the midline, and were priced in line with average pricing for casual sit down in MN
Gents, this location is great to grab food then spend an hour with your s.o. at a Candlelight (google it event) less than half mile away.....a great date night....Just sayin'.....

Good English pub vibe. Decent happy hour ($2 off draft beer, well drinks and appetizers). Appetizers were pricey but regular menu items were reasonable. I had a truly great, large pot roast that was $23. Good location right on Nicollet.

Really bad service. We saw our server twice in the two hours we were there. We ended up having to just order additional beers at the bar, where we were lightly chastised for not just ordering from our absentee server. When we went to leave, we waited twenty minutes for someone to come around that we could pay, but nobody showed up so I again had to go to the bartender who asked why I didn’t pay my server. The walleye sandwich was bland, with a rock hard top bun and a sopping wet bottom bun. The chicken sandwich was solid. The fries are also solid. The atmosphere here feels cool, but the TVs are very glitchy which makes for a weird vibe. I come here every few months thinking that I’ll enjoy it and always leave wishing I had just gone to Brits or Lyons instead.

Not gonna lie this place was GREAT. Living in Minneapolis I forget how many great places are downtown and this is definitely one of them. Would be a fun spot to watch sports as well. The fish and chips was definitely some of the best I’ve had in Minnesota, on par with anchor fish and chips. Everyone loved their food as well.

We love this place, and appreciate its convenient location near the Orpheum and Target Center! The atmosphere, delicious menu items, and great service make it a reliable go-to for our Minneapolis events and meet-up with friends ♥️ Highly recommend the Pub Curry and the Pot Roast Sandwich!! Kira was our server, and so helpful in her recommendations for both beverages and favorite menu items!

Waiter was ready for fun and very prompt!
I rarely give five stars, but this place deserves it! I was in town for business, and my partners at Irish Titan took us to this place not once but twice in two days! I did not mind at all!! The food was delicious, the beer was cool as hell, and our server was on top of everything! I can't remember his name, but he was one of the only male servers working on 10/15 & 10/16. He is the shit. Give that dude a raise! Oh, and those Korean chicken bites were fire!

Non alcoholic options were solid and the pretzel mustard was indeed spicy
This is a very cool building. The corned beef and cabbage was delicious and the $15 lunch servings were a great value.
