I can't stare enough that this is an amazing restaurant. The food is always top-notch, as are the cocktails. Highly recommended spot.

Cool vibe with fun history of the building. We just had drinks but the menu was impressive. Delicious drinks and will definitely go back to partake again!!

Sample room is, in my opinion, one of the most solid restaurants in the city. Their specials are always on point, service is top notch, and the food and drinks are yummy. Very cozy spot, too.

Our Server was a breath of fresh air! 🧚🏻Her suggestions were greatly appreciated. The ravioli and apple crisp kept one of us quiet the entire meal. He loved it! The steak was melt in your mouth delicious.. with the cab. The flatbread tasted great but the bottom was over done. I’ll get it again but ask for it to be less burned🤭. The mash drinks were good!!

Seems like the food program has started to go downhill at the Sample Room. Used to be one of our favorite NE restaurants, but we have now had two mediocre meals in our last two visits. Drinks and staff are still great, booths could use some updating.

Specific things that should have been better:

Roman Gnocchi were anemic and flavorless. I get that they aren't potato gnocchi, but these needed better seasoning and some crisp to them.

Flank steak was very small for th3 price and very under-seasoned. Even with the chimichurri, it was quite bland.

I do think some salt could have helped both significantly, which you should definitely put on the table if your kitchen has the propensity for going light on salt on their dishes.

We looked up best lunch spots near downtown Minneapolis and boom! We found this fantastic little place! We both had half sandwich and soup combo, finished off by sharing warm apple crisp with maple ice cream. Not anything wrong with that!! Highly recommend!

Had lunch during the weekday so very quiet with terrifically friendly staff. Food is delicious, but to be honest a bit on the pricier side for the neighborhood. Still a stunning location and well worth the few dozen steps to the east to taking the Mississippi River and lush bluffs. A charming, unique, cozy abode that I imagined would be a good respite from winter chill with the soup and half sandwich The gentleman next to me spoke so highly of

Good: The food was really good. Covered patio.

Bad: the worst service. The blonde with shoulder length curly hair could use a basic crash course in service. They never came back to check on the food. They checked to see if we needed more drinks, only well beyond when we had finished eating. So no. We had to flag them down to ask for our bill. This place was not busy.
The chairs on the patio are awful. You sink into the chairs, which makes the table height odd.
