We are long term customers . We love the donuts and desserts. I wish the N Mpls store was a bit more pretty & finished. I am so happy that Thirsty Whale has kept the location open and available!!!!

They made an excellent cake for my daughter's birthday. Communication was easy and quick, plus they worked within my budget. Very good. The flavors were great and my daughter loved her cake. I would gladly recommend them to anyone looking for a custom cake.

Quick service but super pricey. Quoted $130+ for a gender reveal cake that’s 6 inch round when what was requested was a heart shape cake and they wanted full payment to place order. I will gladly pay deposit for 50% of total cost but not full. If something goes wrong or not as requested then I would be SOL.

I ordered a signature stock (No substitution) cake 30 hours prior to pick for my granddaughters Baptism . The website requires a 24 hour or more advance notice for the cake which I gave them. I paid $82.50 for the cake and added a request (for an additional charge ) of a Cross piped top in Gold Metallic along with her name .
I called at 145pm the day prior and spoke with a young lady that confirmed my order and made a note regarding the cross .
On Sunday morning I drove 43 miles to Wayzata prior to the Baptism. When I echoed in with the young girl , she was frantic and I had a feeling it was going to be a disaster .
She told me that they did not have time to make my cake and her manager is offering me a substitution .
I thought this had to be some type of joke !!!
I ordered my stock cake 30 hours in advance and requested no substitutions per the website , It was simple but it was going to be elegant and perfect for a Baby’s Baptism with the light soft colors .
When she brought out the substitution
IT WAS A JOKE … a bright obnoxious rainbow cake with a Snowman !!!!
I had to laugh 😂 that they offered me this for a Baptism.
I asked for a full refund and for a manager to call me back .
I reached out again this past week to resolve this with a manger and it’s now been 7 days and they have not bothered to call me back .
I am so disappointed in the new owners ..
They have made a BAD name for the once incredible bakery that The Thirsty Whale was.
On a side note I left , drove 43 miles back and on my way I called Byerly’s and they saved the day with a BEAUTIFUL WHITE cake with a Gorgeous Rosette Cross along with her name
AND it was half the cost .
Funny , yesterday I was in Hyvee and saw a matching Rainbow Snowman cake in their case , and again it was half the price .

We catered our wedding desserts from Thirsty Whale a couple of years ago. We did a cake for cutting/photos (chocolate with raspberry mousse - AMAZING), and then did a dessert bar with everything from bars, to mini cupcakes, dessert shooters, cookies, and macaroons (these, specifically, were a hit). We had gotten a dessert box of different things to try & it was a great way for us to pick and choose for our special day. Very reasonably priced as well.

Thirsty Whale is AMAZING! I'm really looking forward to seeing how the space looks with the new updates to the Camden shop. I ordered wedding desserts from them - two gorgeous cakes and donuts too - and they were *fantastic*. Plus, ask about their monthiversary benefits!!!

Their pistachio scone is out of this world—perfectly crisp on the outside, buttery and rich on the inside, with just the right amount of pistachio flavor. And don’t even get me started on the muffins—each one is packed with flavor, moist and baked to perfection. Whether you grab a classic blueberry or something more seasonal, you can’t go wrong. The tarts are another standout—flaky, fresh, and beautifully balanced in flavor.
To top it all off, the staff make the experience even better. Ben, in particular, brings such a friendly, genuine vibe to the place. His energy and warmth make you feel right at home and keep you coming back just as much as the pastries do.
If you're even thinking about stopping by, do yourself a favor and go. Thirsty Whale is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates great baked goods.

I was in from out of town and had placed an order in advance for 2 dozen peanut butter balls to add to a dessert platter for my son's wedding rehearsal that evening. I arrived that morning and was handed a small bag with 8 peanut butter 'balls'...none were round, nor were any of them the same size or shape. Basically blobs of pb and chocolate.
The situation wasn't handled well at the shop. About 30 minutes later I spoke with the manager via phone and was told the new online ordering system was to blame. She offered a substitute dessert that I would need to travel 45 minutes to the other location to pick up. I didn't have the time.
I called back about 30 minutes later and left a voicemail... under the circumstances and it being their error, was it an option to make them now and I could pick them up when ready...I was only 5 minutes away. Peanut butter balls require no baking. She never returned that call.
Overall disappointed, poor customer service, undependable business and sadly would not recommend to anyone. Would be 0 stars if that was an option.
This cake is too gorgeous not to share! Sending a big heartfelt thank you to thirsty whale bakery!
Our guests were in awe of this cake, the design was perfect with attention to detail. I can’t get over how pretty it was.
The flavor was amazing and unique with chocolate custard.
We have gone through this bakery for the past 2 years for my daughter’s birthday. We will continue to do so, and will also keep recommending them to others ☺️😊

I was really unhappy with this cake. I had heard good things about this bakery and saw a lot of good reviews so I decided to try it out. But the cake was expensive and looked bad. It was leaning to the side, the black writing was bleeding into the white frosting and the outside frosting was messy with dents and cracks. It looked rushed and poorly made. For the price, I expected much better.

Upon walking into the establishment, the business looked closed and not put together. I ordered a small cake for my girlfriend and I’s anniversary and it was stale and hard. The cake was definitely not made to order. In addition, the frosting was smushed on top. I don’t normally write reviews but was so disappointed that I felt like people needed to know.
