We loved Thirsty Whale before it was bought, but the last three times we've visited, the donuts were clearly stale and at least a day old.

I hope YoYo donuts repriotitizes fresh baked goods for their Northside venture because the staff that have stuck around care a lot but are not being equipped. I'm sure this decline in quality is not happening at their Minnetonka location.

My husband stopped here to grab some donuts this morning (Friday). He was the second customer in. They state online that not all flavors may be available. Understandable. This, however, seems like a pretty big misrepresentation of their offerings. I included a photo THEY provided online. My husband chose three flavors. One was packaged alone, and two were pu in a bag together on their sides. While certainly not life changing, why bother with the cute topping if they will be getting tossed in a paper bag like a sack lunch. To top it all off, the donuts seemed chilled. As in, I strongly feel they were not made the morning of. They also relied too heavily on the frosting/icing. Which were mostly just too sweet without any real flavor to note. All in all, for the price, just go to Cub or your local donut shop for a better selection, quality, and freshness. It is also worth noting that this is my only experience with them so, their other products might be of higher quality. The cake decorating seem to be their real talent. The photos look stunning.

They did our wedding cake! It was amazing, all of our guests thought the cake tasted so good. They also made these super cute mushroom cupcakes for us that were a big hit with my nieces and nephews!

Ten out of five stars!!! We requested a custom Jellycat birthday cake, and they delivered with the cutest, most delicious cake EVER. ❤️❤️

Overall it's good doughnuts with good staff in a good neighborhood. My one complaint is sometimes there's not enough room in the building for all the customers to shop.

I really enjoyed the monkey bread with my family and the grandkids loved the cake pops! Thank you

We visited for coffee and to sample their pastries and baked goods.

Despite arriving close to closing time, the service was excellent, and they even offered discounted donuts.

I particularly enjoyed a delicious pistachio cannoli paired with coffee.

The quiet atmosphere made it a perfect spot for meaningful conversations with friends.

🌟 5-Star Review 🌟 Thank you, Thirsty Whale Bakery! We’re still swooning over the show-stopping 3-tier cake that Thirsty Whale Bakery sponsored for TCWEP’s 16th Gala & Awards Show at Leopold's Mississippi Gardens! 🎂✨ It was not only a centerpiece of the evening but also an absolute masterpiece—both visually and flavor-wise! Each tier was a delicious surprise: 🍯 6" Honeywine Moscato with Raspberry Jam Fill 🍫 8" Stout with Chocolate Whip Fill 🎉 10" Funfetti with Custard Fill Every bite was heavenly and had guests talking all night. It was the perfect mix of elegance, creativity, and pure indulgence. Thank you, Thirsty Whale Bakery, for making our celebration truly unforgettable! #TCWEPGala #ThirstyWhaleBakery #CakeGoals #SweetSponsorLove #tcwepnetwork

Has anyone else had trouble getting a response from Thirsty Whale? After reading reviews from people who’ve had positive experiences, I’m honestly disappointed, especially considering they’re “Voted Best Bakery.” I understand that they’re busy, but does it really take that much effort to respond to emails and potential customers who are genuinely interested in getting a quote for their cakes? Last year, I reached out to Thirsty Whale in March 2024 for a custom cake quote for my baby shower, and they never replied. I let it go and ended up going with someone else. Fast forward to this year—it's my son's first birthday, and I wanted a special cake based on all the positive reviews and recommendations I had received. I reached out to them on Tuesday, 4/1/2025, but didn’t hear back until Thursday, 4/3/2025. And that response only came after I contacted them via Facebook Messenger, which went unanswered, but at least they replied to my email. **They really need to put it on their website what their turnaround time is for responding to custom cake quote inquires. ** Thirsty Whale mentioned needing clarification before providing an accurate quote. I responded within minutes, but I didn’t hear back until Sunday, 4/6/2025, when I reached out again. They replied the same day, apologizing for the delay due to a busy few days in the bakery. They finally gave me the quote, which was unfortunately out of my budget. I then replied asking if we could adjust the design inspiration I’d sent so it could fit within my budget, as I really wanted their cake for my son's first birthday. Now, I’m still waiting for a response. I even sent a follow-up email, but why should I have to? Are customer inquiries not as important as walk-in customers? At this point, I’ll take my business elsewhere to a bakery that values both online and in-person customers and is more responsive.

Ordered Christmas cookies for the third year in a row and they have always been great. This year, not so much. $50 worth of cookies and they are dry, crumbly, the chocolate kisses have a white film like they are old. And this year I also ordered two dozen buns. I figured bakery buns would be great. They are bad. So dense and dry. They weigh a ton and the bottoms were all wet with a white film. Also, while I had to schedule a pickup time, the buns were not ready. They did rectify that and delivered them. When I called to give feedback and asked for money back on the buns, I was told they would only consider a refund if I brought them back to the bakery.
