Horrible service, mediocre food, if you want to be rude to customers at least have the food to back up the claim

I have loved turtle bread since I watched the first one be being built at 44th and Beard. I had not been there for a while and did not know one was closer to my house, so I thought I would try it today. I had set aside a particular bread, to make sure I could get it, but even that became negative, when person giving it to me complained that my number was not asked for, when I called. Like she had been frustrated by it all day, even though I had said I would come mid afternoon and it was 3 PM.While the food was as spectacular as I remembered, the service was a consistently inexcusably harsh. To the point where I asked what a particular bakery item was, and they said a scone, like I should know that. I said yes, I was wondering what kind. They gave a withering look and said, I don’t know. And all of that was after I tried to get someone’s attention three or four or five times.Although I was there an hour before closing. I was reminded of it multiple times and I really want to dine in. Toward the end, they handed out leftover bread to people sitting around me, but did not offer it to me and instead, walked quickly by.It was a terrible experience, especially, because I was looking forward to sitting With the memories I had of Turtle Bread as I ate and enjoyed my coffee, The coffee was fantastic, but my brain trauma was triggered by the inhospitable manner in which I was treated and my day quickly changed to needing to recover, rather than going to church as I planned. So disappointing. I still love Turtle Bread, but I guess I will have to go further afield to be treated like a worthy customer. Perhaps like those around me, with whom the staff engaged in conversation throughout their time there.

Turtle Bread is a true neighborhood establishment. I love to come after neighborhood events, and I really feel like I’m part of the community when I stop by.The coffee is great, and every dish I’ve tried has been excellent. Their crispy potatoes are wonderful. I love that they have counter service and plenty of seating. Such a great brunch spot!

This is one of my favorites in St. Paul. The food is always good, and the selection is neither too small nor overwhelming.Recently, I had the chocolate bread, which was delicious toasted.GREAT place to go to get some work done for an hour or two.Parking: Street parking only, but I've never had a problem finding a spot on the block.

Oh... always seems cozy... plus, the selection of food and treats is so scrumptious for a relatively affordable price.Parking: Be respectful of those who live there... don't block bus stops, don't block walk ways...

Super cool neighborhood joint! Fresh baked breads and nice selection of foods. My only complaint is that they make the hot chocolate with hersheys, I just find this a little lazy and it doesn’t taste good at all ;(

Fabulous baked goods. Hot food is excellent, fresh made & nicely upgraded quality. Not basic "diner" food.

So delicious and made from scratch. My Denver Omelette was AMAZING. Never knew a place like this existed. Everyone is friendly and happy. Orders are completed quickly and brought directly to your table. Employees work hard to take care of everyone and everything. The breads and pastries look amazing. I can’t even count the number of raisins in the cinnamon raisin roll. The icing was yummy. So glad everyone recycles and the guests are actually cleaning up after themselves. Highly recommend for breakfast in Minneapolis

I come here regularly. Very friendly staff and great, spacious, comfortable atmosphere. The regular brew pump coffee is pretty good...could be stronger? The baked goods are numerous, but usually overcooked. However, they have a chocolate bread roll on weekends that is to die for. I would love to see this available weekdays!

Great food. Many choices for a relatively small neighborhood place. Good cookies, breads, pies. Nice staff. The new credit card system is now functioning.

Have been coming here for years(since middle school!!), never disappoints. I get bread, juice, cookies, brunch(my go to is the omelet), pre prepared sandwiches. I will always recommend this if I’m in the area. I also have a massive collection of the turtle decorations they sell. They also have gluten free cookies. I can’t guarantee celiac friendly because I’ve never asked though. Me and my friends go here all the time when we get together.
