Absolutely loved Umbra! I was looking for a spot in Minneapolis with a great vibe and good drinks, and it did not disappoint! Our server, Caleb, was super attentive and had amazing drink recs. Highly recommend can’t wait to come back for dinner!
I had a bad experience unfortunately , the place was noisy not appropriate for having a delicious dinner, the dinner wasn’t great but except for the waitress who served us she was unfortunate and she was Latina, I really would not return to this place again.
Last weekend we had the pleasure of staying at the Canopy hotel - such a beautiful place! We had dinner at the Umbra Minneapolis restaurant, which was very good. Our server, Desmond, was very attentive and made sure everything was perfect. After dinner we enjoyed drinks at the bar, served by the magnificent bartender, KayKay! The jazz music was entertaining and the entire atmosphere was fantastic. We had a great time!
Had a great experience at Umbra last weekend. Caleb was an incredible server. Very attentive and respectful. He made our night. Definitely would come back.
Thank you chef Zyhon!!
We’re staying at the hotel and enjoyed a simple breakfast one morning as well as drinks at the bar one afternoon. However dinner tonight was a huge mistake. The menu looked good but immediately started off poorly. A dry martini was very “wet” and the side Caesar salad that came with my entree was, altho’ okay, NOT a Caesar which was a $4 add on. My husbands bisque was okay but not like any bisque we’ve seen. The quinoa with his salmon was cold - why? My gnocchi was so bad, I couldn’t and didn’t eat it. Our server was overwhelmed and excitable and did not ask why my meal was basically untouched. We were feeling lazy and ate here instead of where we had planned - BOY ARE WE SORRY! Skip it folks.
Good services, and setup. But men the food was not it. 😭😭😭. I rarely leave negative reviews, but when I do. Be warned. For the price, you rather go else where. Please. Also, they don't do free desert for b day because hotel complained its losing them money. Like fam, 💀. Got 1 meatball for $16 and no side or enough sauce. Lmao. Crazy work. Our food came out cold as well. Apparently the place used to be good based on person who booked, but we vowed to never return. Server was really nice. But men, food ain't it men. Rather gotten chic fill a at that point.
Overpriced and small portions. Got six gnocchi and a plate of corn for $26. No thanks ... I wish I had known before I sat down.
Live music, spacious venue, great service. Beautiful decoration throughout the building. I will visit again.
Thank you SO MUCH KIMKIM <3 We had an amazing time and the food was delicious. Great atmosphere and a lovely server!

Amazing service from Kimkim! She gave us amazing recommendations and was super patient with our needy group ;) Absolutely coming back for her!!
Kim was phenomenal!!! Love her and request her!!! plus the food was next level
The food is genuinely and surprisingly bad here. And to add insult to injury, it’s overly expensive. I can look past the price, but everyone genuinely thought their apps and entrees tasted bad. The couple sitting next to us bought an entree to split, but both gave up after a few bites. I don’t understand what’s going on here — It’s all cooked well, presentation is fine, but the flavors are just off/awful combinations. And then they charge you $30-$40 for such a poor meal.
The new Chef has got to go! The food has gone down hill. Umbra went from having inspired cuisine, to bad food. Our entire table of 6 hated their meals. Such a shame, because the live music and all around vibe was awesome. PLEASE BRING NEW TALENT TO THE KITCHEN! We want the old menu (and Chrf Kevin) back! Who ever decided to not pay Chef Kevin what he is worth is an ignoramous!
Good vibes but ridiculous prices. $9 for a modelo is crazy. Dropped $50 on a double mixer, a beer, and a shot. We’re from out of town so maybe thats normal here but we were shocked.
