I frequent the downtown skyway location and was happy to try this location out. There has never been a time I’ve been to Vellee Deli and didn’t like it. The food is INCREDIBLE!! And best part, their spicy level is not Minnesota-friendly. You will be spiced out with three kicks but that’s a huge plus for me being from California and growing up Latinx! I will always recommend Vellee to anyone and even writing this, I want to go now!!

Vegetarian options: They have tofu and other non-meat options that are equally delicious.

Service here was super friendly and helpful! I was curious about the duck confit banh mi, and the person at the front counter described it perfectly- think tender pulled pork consistency. That description was spot-on! The flavour didn't miss either, and with an extra kick of crushed chili, this sandwich was everything I had been missing in my life. I've been thinking about it ever since.

Eat the black cherry. But wait until it has soaked in the liquor for at least 10 mins. The umami is a bit less then expected but for an old fashioned it's on par with others. Let's talk curry burrito. It's solid but nothing special. Get it spicy for added fun. The Korean burrito is where it's at. The kimchi is on point. And so good for you too. The Singapore Bling was... like cough syrup. A bit too much cherry. But if cherry is your thing you'll love it. The best part is the atmosphere. It's rocking. Especially when they have a live DJ.

I loved the aesthetic of the restaurant and coffee shop. I saw it one day while I was out driving and the outer facade was so cute. The inside is just as good. The boom boxes are a wonderful display. The bottles of wine are a tasteful touch. The counter I sat had a little bit of crumbs, but it was easy to just take a napkin and wipe it down.

My friend got an empanada which was crisp, flavorful, and a delicacy. It was cooked perfectly, and had a great sauce to accompany it. The tea and coffee were very good as well. The white mocha had a nice sweetness that most don't.

The food was incredible—what a wonderful surprise lunch stop. Presentation, atmosphere, flavor, freshness and local ingredient procurement was all 10/10. They grow their own Thai chilis, folks! I would highly recommend stopping in at this BIPOC/woman-owned establishment!

OMG, yass queen. Let's take a moment to recognize the fine owners of this establishment and the cooks.

Three words: fresh, inexpensive, healthy!

I would have taken a photo, but I ate it too quickly to share.

Duck and fish tacos, dragon quesadilla, and drinks for $30 for two people! Amazing! With the economy the way it is?

Please do yourself a huge solid and visit this fine establishment.

I will definitely be back. 10/10 recommend wholeheartedly.

Vegetarian options: Great vegetarian options too! Tofu Bahn Mi, burrito, bowl, and quesadilla!

Spicy Thai Tofu Bowl(Tofu, red bell peppers, straw mushrooms, potatoes, romaine lettuce, seasoned rice and zing sauce)I was not a fan of coconut curry flavors until visiting Vellee a few days ago. I called an audible and ordered the Spicy Thai Tofu Bowl. Before we walked in the door, I just knew I was going to order the Korean BBQ bowl. I am delighted I was wrong. The chef perfectly dialed the spice level (#2) to my hopefulness, partnering it well with the zing sauce. I’m not sure I’ve ever had a zing sauce, but it was persuasive enough to make me change my mind about curries. The creamy coconut sauce covered the fresh ingredients with comforting casualness. The sauce to rice ratio was good – as was the sweet to heat ratio. My favorite surprise ingredient was the potato! It felt like it belonged all along. I left Vellee very satisfied, wanting nothing more or less. The vibe was as energetic as the boom box display on the far wall. I intend to go back again in attempt to get the Korean BBQ bowl.

I had gone to their skyway location before and enjoyed a bahn mi from there, so I was glad to see they opened a second location. The person taking my order was very friendly and gave me a lot of recommendations. I later found out she was the owner. She is clearly very passionate about her business, and I hope to see it do well. This time, I got the dragon quesadilla and the Korean BBQ taco. The quesadilla was good but I really enjoyed the Korean BBQ taco. I got my food at a level 1 spice and it had a good amount of kick to it. While waiting for my to-go order, I got a cocktail (Mai-jito) and that was good too. I would definitely recommend this place and hope to come back soon!Only negative: the parking is a little hard to find, but it's on the corner of 1st Ave NE & 4th St NE

Dietary restrictions: They offered gluten free/sensitive options as well as vegetarian (I didn't check for vegan)

Parking: The parking lot is at 1st Ave NE & 4th St NE. You park at the Nord Haus apartments (I think under "retail"). I think they validate parking but I'm not sure. I just parked at West Photo across the street (do at your own risk).
