This has been such a wonderful wonderful place in my neighborhood that I've been coming here for a couple of years now. They dinners and beers salvations are some of the best I've seen in along time. Rarely have I've had a bad experience with this restaurant and the service and staff are some of the BEST I've ever had In along time. Save room for their delicious DESSERTS. Go for the Apple Strudel and house homemade WHIPED CREAM

Lots of options at this traditional German restaurant. Best Rippchen I have ever had and that's after a 20 minute drive home. And it's gluten free. The Black Forest torte was a big hit with my wife.

The waiter was incredibly rude and very disrespectful. When we asked for something, he would roll his eyes and disregard it. This was one of the worst experiences I had for service at a restaurant. The food was really good, but the pork shank was cold in the middle.

Loved this restaurant! We got a rare opportunity for a date night on a Monday and headed here hoping the patio would be open (and heated) during the indoor dining shutdown. Our server set up a table and turned on the heaters specifically for us, and was very attentive, friendly and helpful! Our food was excellent! I got the spaetzel & cheese casserole and my husband got the sausage trio. So good. Very happy with our decision to visit!

Best German food in twin cities and it feels very safe. Beer garden is cozy and atmospheric even in pandemic times.

Delicious food and friendly, professional service. Loved the stuffed cabbage rolls and the potato salad. The honey-spice cordial was heavenly.

Love getting take out from here. The staff is awesome, so very nice and the food is amazing. They bring it out to your car during these Covid-19 days. I miss going to the restaurant and the backyard garden. But we will be able to again some day

Nice! I had a good experience. For dinner, I had a sausage sampler, which offered a brat, chicken curry sausage, and some other link. I had a good warm potato salad and rye bread. It was a little pricey though.

Was absolutely the worst German food that my husband and I have ever had. The sauerkraut balls were just mush on the inside, reminded me of potted meat and kind of tasted like it, too. We both got pork schnitzels and they were tough and super chewy. Couldn't cut it with a fork. My husband's schnitzel was drowning in gravy, so much so that the breading came off and was just mixing in with the gravy. The potato pancakes were weird, kinda like a hockey puck and didn't taste like any potato pancake we've ever had. I think it was mixed with carrot then ground up into a mush. Sauerkraut was mushy as well. I gave 2 stars because the ambience is amazing! The Biergarten was so nice and really felt like we were in Germany. If we go back, it would be for beers on the patio.

There is a reason the Black Forest Inn has persevered as a Minneapolis institution: The quality of their product and exceptional service. I cannot overstate how wonderful the food and drink are, nor can I pass without mentioning how wonderful the staff are.
