DelSur Empanadas—Minnetonka

The vegan beef empanada was so so so so good, one of the best empanadas I’ve ever had even before going vegan. Stop by! I got 3, which was a good portion. It does take 25 minutes to prepare, though.

Served DelSur Empanadas from r a party of 14 guests . We tested the Empanadas from six vendors . DelSur produced the most pastry pie crust and the greatest range of stuffings . Everyone loved them ! In that group of doughnuts one guests were Vegetarian’s, n no red meat faction, n no onion faction ! We met everyone’s needs ; and the preparations were so easy ! Have been back to the shop several times from Stillwater ! O

I’ve gone back and forth about whether to share my experience at Del Sur, but it was so shocking and inappropriate that I feel compelled to speak up. On September 28, 2024, my husband and I stopped by to pick up some empanadas to enjoy at the brewery next door. While placing our order, the cashier—a woman who appeared to be in her 50s—asked me if I was carrying a baby (essentially asking if I was pregnant) while making a gesture of rubbing her stomach. I was absolutely not pregnant (nor overweight, not that it should matter), and I was stunned by the audacity and insensitivity of her comment.

When I told her I was not expecting, she didn’t even apologize or acknowledge how inappropriate her question was. She didn’t blink an eye or show any remorse. Later, when we picked up our takeout, she still didn’t apologize but instead tried to pitch us their new sister pizza shop next door, as if nothing had happened.

Even if I had been pregnant, it’s incredibly inappropriate and unprofessional to make such assumptions or comments about someone’s body. My husband and I were so shocked and upset that we didn’t even think to ask to speak to the owner at the time; we just wanted to get our food and leave.

After reading other Google reviews, it seems I’m not the only one who has had a negative experience with this particular employee. I hope the owners take this feedback seriously and address the behavior of their staff to ensure a more welcoming and respectful environment for all customers.

Wow!!!! Best empanadas I've ever had since returning to Minnesota!!!

DelSur has been on my list ever since I got a chance to try their empanadas from their food truck, and I’m blown away! The empanadas were delicious and fresh (the chorizo and the sweet corn were my favorite), service was fast and friendly, and the atmosphere was really fun! Plus, they have a frozen empanada takeaway menu so you can enjoy them at home. So glad I finally stopped in and tried them out in person, I’ll be back to try more flavors soon! (PS - the new restaurant they opened next door, Tonka Pizza, is also fantastic!)

Loved the choices and all empanadas are stuffed full of filling! My favorites were the BBQ chicken and ham and cheese. Dipping sauces are great too!

Excellent food, excellent music!!! Can’t believe I waited so long to visit.

Great restaurant, the woman taking our order was amazing. She recognized this was our first visit and was very helpful in guiding our order. She was not an owner, but was a beautiful cheerleader for the restaurant. We found the beef empanadas to be our favorite.

I stumbled upon this place and I will for sure be back. Wow the empanadas are good. I particularly liked the sweet corn styled. The chimichurri sauce is outstanding, too.

Delsur Empanada feels like a warm embrace from a family that genuinely loves what they do. This cozy, family-owned Argentine spot has become one of my favorite go-tos for a quick, flavorful meal. Their empanadas, made fresh daily, are packed with bold, authentic flavors that remind me of home-cooked goodness. The sandwiches are always served hot, with bread grilled to perfection—crispy on the outside and never soggy, just the way I like it. But what really makes this place special is the wonderful service; the staff treats you like family, making each visit feel like a homecoming.
