Another attempt to find a thin crust crisp pizza. Ever since Gina Marie’s closed. Minnetonka has become a pizza desert. Tonka Pizza took over the location but that is close as it gets to the former.
Tonka Pizza is a pan pizza. With an oiled crust. It renders a fried bread base that is neither thin nor crisp. It’s a chewy bite. The sauce is lacking in flavor, spices and quantity on the slice. The flavor of the pizza comes from the sausage and sprinkles of Oregano?

If you follow me, you know I enjoy my pizza, especially when I travel. This is local to me and have ordered multiple times. It goes great with the beer from Unmapped Brewing next door. Had the bacon cheese burger pizza tonight. Great flavor, cheesy, and bacon. Wish I would have looked to see if pickles were an option. 10" pizza was a good individual size with a couple pieces to take home. Delivery was right on time even in sub zero temps.

Excellent Argentinian type pizza! There is no other like it in all of Minnesota.

Ordered the pizza and wings for a large group last night. Little on the high end. But you get what you pay for. Pizza was top notch.

So happy this place opened up! Not only is the pizza fantastic, but the service is also amazing! I particularly loved the Tonka Special and the Bacon Cheeseburger pizzas. Prices are super reasonable, and the crust is phenomenal. Stop by their sister restaurant and neighbor DelSur Empanadas on your way out to get an amazing meal!

My husband is Argentinian and he is a pizza snob! He said this is the best pizza he’s had in the US so far and he’s been here for 12 years. They have the Fugazetta style pizza here which is something you find in Argentina. It is delicious! I love how you can order your pizza and take it over to Unmapped Brewery. They will take it over for you too. Overall really great service and I think the prices are very reasonable.

It was fine. Not great. Personally, I don’t like green olives where we’re part of their specialty pizzas.

Excited to check this place out after the recent ownership change. Service/staff/order time was exceptional, however the pizza itself was a letdown. Sauce was bland and crust tasted a bit stale/overcooked, and overall quite pricey for quality/size.
I’ll give this another shot in the future, maybe it was just a bad day.

Took my taste buds on a little adventure to Tonka Pizza. Walking in, I was impressed—the place is clean and tidy it felt like I was stepping into a pizza showroom. They’ve got the ambiance down; I half-expected the pizza to come out on a silver platter.
But then... the extra sauce. Oh, the extra sauce. I ordered some extra because who doesn’t love a good dip? What do they bring me? Two little Heinz marinara containers, the kind you get with mozzarella sticks at the state fair. For a moment, I thought I’d wandered into a ketchup convention by mistake. Seriously, for the price of the pizza, could they not at least upgrade to a clear plastic cup? Or, you know, anything that doesn’t remind me of fast food condiments?
As for the pizza itself, it was okay. Nothing to write home about, but nothing to complain too much about either—except maybe the fact that those little Heinz containers kept staring at me from the side of the plate, reminding me that extra sauce / marinara presentation apparently wasn’t in the budget.
Then I got to thinking Is the sauce on the pizza Heinz?? That would disappoint me.
So, Tonka Pizza, you’ve got the cleanliness and the vibe, but let’s work on that sauce game, yeah? Because no one wants to feel like they’ve paid for pizza and got the condiment aisle on the side.

Pizza crust is excellent, light and crispy, specialty pizza (bbq chicken) is great. As others have mentioned sauce on the plain cheese or pepperoni is really light and you can hardly taste it. This was easily fixed the second time ordering by just asking for extra sauce in the comments when ordering and made a huge difference.

Overall, decent replacement for the Gina Maria’s that was here for so many years. Just to make the comparison, I actually went to Gina Maria’s in Eden Prairie immediately after eating a slice here for lunch. Gina’s goes heavier on the toppings but I liked the crisp crust of Tonka, but the crust was slightly too thick under the toppings. Tonka also uses small pepperoni when I prefer the larger, thinner, burnt around the edges and greasier pepperoni.

As a long term resident of Glan Lake I was disappointed when Gina Maries closed. Finally ordered from Tonka Pizza. Delivery thru Grubhub was on time. Had a Tonka Special. It was great. It looks like my wife and I will be repeat customers.
Good Pizza.....
