My husband having heard about Los Jarritos from a student, we tried it at 11:30 am on a Thursday. We were the only diners in the colorful and brightly lit restaurant with two huge TVs and loud music. The server brought us big glasses of ice water, so we did not order drinks at $4 apiece. We ordered the crispy homemade tortilla chips, which came with a pot of salsa and one of refried beans and queso. Scout pronounced his enchiladas “Delicious …with a lemony taste.” He licked up all his tomatoey rice and beans as well. I enjoyed my torta, a hamburger with a green chile, lettuce, tomato, avocado and bacon. My fries, which I did not order, were excellent. After we were seated I looked up the restaurant and found that one year ago the Rochester City Council had considered putting it on probation after nine “incidents” involving shootings and stabbings. We figured that those must have occurred at night and felt safe.
Food was cold, flavorless, cheese tasted like processed cheese food, pork was tough, and it was quite expensive. We ordered the chile rellanos and burrito. We won't go back again. Many other choices in town. We were very disappointed.
Really excellent unique, but traditional Mexican dishes. Their grilled, bacon wrapped stuffed peppers were amazing. Some of the best queso sauce I have tasted. My Carne Asada was very tender and flavorful, as was my wife’s chicken. The guacamole has a nice bite to it. Pleasantly surprised.
Sunday afternoon, only 1 other table and a couple of people at the bar. Service was so so, but was quite prompt. The table was sticky and rocked terribly, so we moved to a very comfortable booth. The menu isn't huge, which made it easier to look through and find something to order. Still ample choices. My taco meal, filled with red chili pork, was fantastic. The 4 tacos had the seasoned meat, onions, cilantro and were served on 2 corn tortillas. It came with beans and rice, both of which were well seasoned and really delicious. The beans were left more whole instead of being pureed, which is how most places tend to prepare them. The platter also came with a grilled jalapeño, grilled green onion and a bacon wrapped grilled jalapeño. Wonderful. My wife had the tostadas de guacamole. Made with chicken and served over crisp corn tortillas with guacamole, lettuce, queso fresco, sour cream, and pico de gallo. Delicious! She got the platter as well for $16 while my taco platter was $15. I ordered an iced tea for $3 and the chips and fresh made salsa also set us back another $3. What's a Mexican food meal without chips and salsa?! Plus very good and so worth it. The service was certainly adequate, but not extremely attentive for not being very busy. I asked for sweetener for the iced tea and she brought me sweet tea to replace it. More of a communication error, but she was still very nice. When she served the other table, the couple asked the server if she would take their picture and she did so very happily. Overall impression, let me say I can't wait to come back here! Some of the other controllables were a slight miss, but the food is what I came for and they did not dissapoint!
First visit to Los Jarritos on Aug 28, 2020. We ordered Enchiladas Roja platter with Chicken, and the Quesadilla platter with Pastor Red Chili Pork. There wasn’t much meat in the quesadilla and the pork in there was very stingy and not chewable. I told the waitress and her response was “that happens sometimes”. She didn’t come back to the table after that. Didn’t offer to get another, nor offer a discount. The food wasn’t all bad, but I was disappointed in this. I’d probably chose to go elsewhere before trying here again.
We have been here a dozen times during this pandemic eating on the small patio/walk in front of the restaurant. I always like the sopas, but lately the fajitas have been excellent. The owners are often there, and will come out to greet us. When Teo (sp?) is there he serves up a plate that is over the top with flair! We dine with a friend who is vegetarian, and they are willing to make almost the whole menu according to these needs. This restaurant serves excellent refried beans with a mixture of both pinto and black beans. Friendly, efficient service.
To start, they bring you a trio of amazing dips. The service is quick and efficient; I highly recommend enjoying their outdoor seating! Our group ordered the fajitas, the carne asada, a tacos plate and the verde enchiladas; all super yummy! I simply can not wait to eat here again!
We ate here with our daughter and her family. We loved the atmosphere and so well decorated and so clean and well lit. Since then we took some friends and other family to eat there again with us. When the restaurants all closed, we have ordered take out twice and each time has been great. Very fast service and nice people . They remembered us and we would like to keep them in business through these hard times. They are a brand new restaurant that just opened this year, just down from Fresh Thyme in Miracle Mile. The prices are very reasonable and food is very good!
Amazing place! I went to get take out and had fast and excellent service. Menu has very big with many authentic and tex-mex options. We ordered tacos, enchiladas, and a quesadilla and they were all very delicious. The tortillas tasted fresh and homemade. Definitely recommended!
I was driving by this strip mall and noticed this new restaurant. The decorations, tables and chairs are designed well and comfortable and unique for this restaurant. The restaurant is clean and the service is good. The food is excellent. It has Mexican sized tacos and enchiladas which are smaller than what the American version is. There are various selections of meats available. The food is spicy but excellent. The guacamole is wonderful. I have two complaints: 1. when we sat down, we were asked if we wanted salsa and chips... there was a charge but we weren't told about that. 2. the salsa is not to my liking or anybody in my company, so that was a waste of money anyway. We couldn't even eat it. Maybe it is more authentic but it's sure not what we are used to. The guacamole is heavenly. I had enchilada verde with a barbacoa meat, ymmmmy! I asked them to make my enchiladas with flour tortillas (I have a corn allergy). They had never made them this way before. They turned out wonderfully. I loved them. They were great to work with me. My companions had tacos, one had chicken and the other had barbacoa. The rice and beans were wonderful as well. Good food. Expect heat but so enjoyable.
