CRAVE American Kitchen & Sushi Bar (Rochester)

The food at Crave never disappoints, but the service did on Sunday. It took more than 30 minutes to receive our beverage order, and no coffee refills were offered the entire time.

Crave took care of the issues we experienced during our dinner. But really, who wants the manager to visit your table three times in an evening? It started out with our reservation of 5. The table was set for 5 but had 6 chairs. The table was a "large" 4 top so the extra chair was really crowding the space. I personally had to move the chair. Next was a table side smoked cocktail. The waiter dropped the lighter after starting the presentation and almost hit one of us. Even the women at the table behind us was startled. My 90-year-old mother pointed to the item she wanted to order and all of us heard her request; she received the incorrect food. Yes, they corrected the order and comped it. More on that below. I have been a guest of Crave since their first restaurant in Edina. Unfortunately, as with so many other restaurants that have "franchised", the quality of the food has really gone down. Our whole group said the food was "good". Generally passable but not really worth the price point. No, "Yes, this is what I was looking forward to." Two of us ordered from the 3 course pre-fix menu. It includes dessert. The waiter just brought out the two desserts without asking if anyone else might want to order a dessert. I know we would have ordered dessert. However, who wants to order a dessert when half your party is already eating one. With that, the one dessert, sorbet, was mostly melted when it was delivered. My brother and I decided to split the check. When the checks were delivered, the comped food had not been removed. Then, when we paid, I was given a different table's check. Fortunately, for the other table, we were still there. We were celebrating my late father's birthday. We lost him this year. This was made aware to Crave. I was disappointed there was not any acknowledgement of our purpose of dining with them. Even a half-melted sorbet would have been nice. I will think twice before selecting Crave again.

This is a wonderful restaurant....maybe the best vegetarian menu I've seen! Beautiful, contemporary decor....great wait staff. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Food was delicious and beautifully presented.

Hours on the Crave website are wrong. There is not a Saturday “brunch”. When we arrived 6 minutes early for our reservation the restaurant was empty and appeared closed even though the website said it had been open for hours. When our watches changed to the time of our reservation we went inside and were told we didn't have a reservation and then their clock turned over and they found it. I mentioned that the hours online were wrong and the hostess might want to tell someone and she stated she has no way to do anything about that. Server was great and attentive but the rude greeting set things off poorly.

so just to recap my night, we went here on my wife’s birthday. I had dinner. The food was very bland and unappetizing. All of our items were missing ingredients that were on the menu, but not on the actual item. Food came out, looking like it was plated by toddler. What a waste of time and money.

Food was meh. I had sushi and it was fresh but did not have a lot of taste. Our server was AMAZING!!!! Food not so much for the price.

Used to be our favorite restaurant, but the quality has gone down a bit, and they took away their best menu items for hyper-specialized stuff…. Like how do you get rid of the best fettuccini in the city for half the stuff they replaced it with??? Just wish they’d go back to their old menu, was so much better.

Had the walleye dinner and it was great! Service was excellent, and staff were amazing. Will definitely come back.

The food was spicy and we ordered that for our teenager and he was not able to eat it even regular sushi was spicy and I do not recall seeing any warning in the menu or from the lady was serving us, we should have warned in advance. We did not ask for any new dish or something and willing to pay but just raise the fact that it was too spicy to our waiter and we did not get anything in response, I am not talking about refund or something maybe a sincere apology would have worked.

Service was awful. Waitress tried to scam me and was argumentative. Tge sushi was barely put together and was room temperature by the time I got it. Didn't get any utensils or soy sauce until I asked the waitress. Will not be going back anytime soon.

The food's great and the ambience, awesome but the real differentiator is their service. Professional, courteous and warm! Makes you want to come back.

Used to be good in 2024, something must have happened in the last year. Outrageous prices with miniature portions. Go anywhere else.
