I recently visited this Vietnamese restaurant and overall, it was just okay. The food and service were both average. My egg roll was burnt, and the pho broth was very light and lacked depth of flavor, almost watery. Very little meat in the pho. Some of the condiments were left out, and the veggies that came with the pho were minimal — they only gave one lime wedge. Once it started getting busy for lunch, the staff didn’t really come by to check how we were doing. Overall, it was a pretty underwhelming experience, and I don’t see myself going back.

Pho broth was delicious. Served in a big bowl with rice noodles and your choice of proteins. I got the beef, meatballs, and tripe. They served it with the usual fresh toppings: bean sprouts, cilantro, jalapeño slices, sprig of mint leaves, and a couple of lime wedges. All in all, a wonderfully developed broth, making a very tasty, satisfying meal. We started with a sesame beef appetizer. This was flavored well, sliced VERY thin, but was such a small portion for the $6.50 price. The Pho dish was $14. My wife ordered a flavorful beef dish served in a clay pot, which bubbled like a cauldron of hot deliciousness. It ran about $15. The service was adequate, nothing extraordinary, the atmosphere was basic, no frills dining. I would recommend this restaurant as a very good, family-friendly place to get a delicious warm meal.

They start with their attitude by being rude and not friendly at all .

Waitress and server was pretty rude while taking our order of . They look and seen irritated because there were so many of us . If they can't handle this many people, then why fake the friendliness and making it seem like they can handle and cater to big groups, and Ok food , but rude employees, even the owner.

Bad service left a 9$ tip on a 17 meal went to use the bathroom n came to pay got questioned about the tip with an attitude. Owner rude food is nasty shouldn’t even tip at all. Better place to eat than at that restaurant

Everything was overcooked. Wings were tough and dry, noodles were mushy.

I have a feeling they put the broth straight into the cold stoneware bowl, because it was lukewarm when it hit the table. By the time the bean sprouts and aromatics went in, it was cold.

Disappointing Experience Despite Good Intentions

I've been enjoying Vietnamese food for over 16 years, and I was really looking forward to trying out Pho Tai in Rochester. I arrived with great intentions, excited to check out the menu and support the restaurant. However, the experience turned out to be quite disappointing, and it wasn't due to the food options but more about how I was treated.

As I'm transitioning away from eating beef and pork, I asked if they offered pho with a chicken broth option. I understand that some places may not have it, and the staff member kindly went to ask. Unfortunately, they didn’t offer a chicken broth option, which I completely respected and understood. I even thanked them for checking and made it clear that it was just a personal dietary choice, not any fault of theirs.

But then, before leaving, I politely asked to use the restroom. I had just spent time driving there, sitting down, and explaining my situation. Instead of allowing me to use the restroom, the person at the counter (possibly the owner) coldly responded, "Only for paying customers." The tone was harsh, dismissive, and felt incredibly rude. I wasn’t expecting that kind of attitude, especially after I had been polite the whole time.

This isn’t about their lack of chicken broth or any specific menu issue—it’s about how I was treated. It left a very negative impression, and despite the fact that I enjoy Vietnamese food, I don’t see myself returning to this particular restaurant. After such an unpleasant experience, I’m hesitant to recommend Pho Tai to others.

Best Pho in town! You have to try the Vietnamese egg rolls when you’re here- can’t recommend it enough! Pictured are the fresh spring rolls, beef and sliced pork rice plate, and the combination Pho.

I will say the food is pretty good but portions are small , the pork is really small for the amount of rice and veggies you get with it. Bathroom is really dingy , not the cleanest but service was top tier.

In comparison to other Pho places in the area, this one is by far the best. The prices are great, the food is amazing and the staff is always friendly. I always feel like the quality and freshness of the food is top notch. Don't let the building fool you, this is a great go to for food.

Words cannot describe how delicious yumlicious this meal was. We each had a bowl of pho and shared the egg rolls. Everything was on point and the broth was so flavorful and the flank was so tender. The service was friendly and prompt. Prices are very fair and portions are perfect. I am fully rejuvenated after this meal, thank you to Pho Tai
