Best country fried steak anywhere hands down. Very good food and amazing dumplings in their corn rival soup. I drive 2 hours just to eat at this restaurant sometimes. Great diner prices and a good selection of take home canned and baked goodies. Cute little country type store upstairs, restaurant downstairs.

We have eaten here multiple times and we've never been disappointed with the portions, quality, and most importantly service. Everything is made in house and delicious! Natalie is a fantastic server and I love how only after serving us one time she immediately recognized us when we walked in the door! This most recent time (9/10/22) we had our 5 year old son with and she remembered what he liked and that he loved dinosaurs! She also remembered both mine and my husband's preferences and orders (too bad we both changed it up and ordered something different). The servers have always been extremely upbeat and attentive, but Natalie in particular stands out. They also have a wonderful rewards program if you are local. Who doesn't love a discount after so many points.Next time you are in St. Charles or just passing through on i90 don't hesitate to stop in. Doesn't matter what time of day it is....your meal certainly won't disappoint.

Giving this a 2 because the service was really good. The atmosphere has potential but dirty, needs attention. Bathrooms are in desperate need of repairs. And to get to them you walk right by and thru the kitchen so it's awkward. My boyfriend said the men's room had a large spot of old dried blood on the side of the sink.Prices are a little steep. As for the food.... I got an omelette with hollandaise sauce. The sauce was pure oil and grease and covered the whole plate, just looked like a hot mess! Fried potatoes were cold. Toast was cold and very hard like it'd been sitting under the heat too long. Pancake had to be cut with a knife it was so rubbery. Steak was like chewing beef jerky. I'm guessing most of the food was made too early, put in the window under the heat, waiting for the steak that was overcooked and then served. The food TASTED good but was overcooked, cooked too soon and not plated well at all. Maybe it was a bad day so I won't say I'd never go back, I like to give second chances so maybe we'll try dinner next time

Don’t do the steak and eggs ! The steak had no flavor. The eggs looked dirty from underneath the yoke. Tried to eat it with an English Muffin but just couldn’t.

A good visit to one of Saint Charles’ food spots.Formerly the Amish Oven, Whitewater Restaurant offers old fashion meals that fill you up with comfort.Price was reasonable. Kids menu had several options for under 5$. Biscuits and gravy, omelet, grilled cheese, pancakes, and more all delivered to expectations. On the main level you can find a gift shop with artisan goods and crafts.Cleanliness and upkeep of building was ok, but feel it could use a little TLC.

Excellent home style food. Clean and quaint dining area. The staff are welcoming and engaging. One of the rare places offering breakfast all day. They have homemade pies and canned jams, pickles and sauerkraut for sale too. There is a gift shop upstairs also. If you are in the area, it is well worth the stop. You will not be disappointed.

Quick service accompanying delicious food really hot the spot as we charged our car for the rest of our trip. I had the fish and shrimp. Breading was crisp and not greasy with a very clean taste. Salad was typical roadside iceberg lettuce w/tomatoes, and a tasty wild rice that was a little dry. My travelling companion had the country fried steak (breakfast IS served all day) that held up to the gravey test (battery stayed crispy even after sitting with gravy on it). The good food and fast, friendly service at this as a favorite stop when coming through the area and needing a EV charge.

The outside appearance may fool you, but don’t let it. The food was very good, came out quickly and was priced fairly. I would have given you a 5, except for the waitress. It started when I asked her to repeat the specials because I didn’t hear her (I wear hearing aids), and she said I wasn’t listening. It ended with her handing me a bag so I could bag the cookies and banana bread we purchased on our way out myself. Everything in between was more of the same.If we ever come back and she is the waitress, we’ll go somewhere else.

Good food. Amish corn rival soup a must try. Restroom with baby changing station a plus for those traveling with young kids. In the heart of Amish country! They sell the Budget newspaper out of Sugarcreek, Ohio.

Delicious homemade recipes. May take a bit longer but worth the wait. I had soup & sandwich while my husband ordered breakfast and then we shared a Carmel Pecan pie. Yum!

A hidden gem on the eastbound side of the interstate! Do not be fooled by the exterior, the downstairs restaurant is quaint and cozy, complete with smiling servers and deliciously home cooked food! Once you’re through the front door, everything is warm and welcoming! The portion size is perfect, the attitude is upbeat, and you leave with more than a full belly - you leave with a good vibe. Give this place a chance! They deserve it and you’ll be pleased with your decision.

Small, very local and very hommie place at the lower level of truck plaza. The restaurant replaced former Amish Oven on the site. The place got a bakery on premises, but pies and muffins not really impressive. Anyway, food is good, like really hommie taste. Portions are generous, prices are really low, personal are friendly. Cooking time and speed of service might be increased, but yet again - worth to stop driving by.Also, ask for coffee to go. Offering for free.
