You get so much bang for your buck at Bolé. The servers are incredibly kind and enthusiastic about guests experiencing Ethiopian food. Doesn’t boast the biggest vegetarian section, but what is available is absolutely delicious. Everything is clearly labeled so there’s no questions about what’s what! You will eat with your hands. Short summary: Poor service, okay food, very small portion sizes, and overly expensive. For the full review, I and a friend decided to try the restaurant as we wanted Ethiopian food. We split the tour of Ethopia as we thought it would be enough for dinner and allow for leftovers as it was said to be for 4 - 5 people. The serving size was barely enough for 2 people let alone 4 - 5. The portions were so incredibly small I thought the waiter forgot something. For the price ~$65 there should have been more food. Speaking about the food, it was okay. Not bad but certainly not good either. The service was also quite poor. We had to keep asking for water refills instead of the waiter checking in on that, which was odd because the waiter kept coming by, but would not refill our water unless we asked. He seemed to just have wanted us to get out so he could have the table. Which can be understandable, but not more than 10 minutes after getting our food he brought out to-go boxes without us asking to. This was a bit much as mentioned before he would not refill our water without asking, but take-out boxes he brought out nearly right after we got our food. Trying to push us out the door so quickly made us feel quite unwelcome, but did work as we ate quickly and left right away. All around a poor experience.

Worst ethiopian food experience, salt was over used. This place is over rated!!! We ordered kitfo and shekla tibs.

The food could have been better.. the Injera tasted really off, so much so that our party left two huge plates of it untouched. Tea took forever to come. I had to remind our server three times that I'd ordered tea and it had not yet arrived. I'm glad I tried this place but I will stick with my favorite, Erta Ale, in St. Paul

Overpriced and the worst Ethiopian food in Minnesota

This is my favorite restaurant in the Twin Cities. The hospitality is unmatchable. Great atmosphere. The Ethiopian coffee is fantastic and comes out with the neatest presentation of incense too. Love the decor and music. And everything on the menu is flavorful and delicious. Thank you for sharing your talents with the public!

Most Ethiopian places in the twin cities have a really creepy and dingy atmosphere. Bole has a really nice atmosphere and good vibes. It’s modern and clean. And the staff are very friendly.

Amazing food. Their veggie platter serves at least 3, making it an economical great spot to have a nice dinner.

The only thing that didn't make this a great experience was that it was really busy.

First time we eat Ethiopian food and we thought this place was excellent. Great service, the waitress gave us delicious recomendations and explained everything with details. Dessert was amazing. We are very pleased, and we'll definitively come back to try more things.

Truly excellent Ethiopian food. I got the vegetarian sampler both times I've been here: my favorite is the shiro, but the beets are also spectacular. My wife, who doesn't love injera, got their steak sandwich--essentially a cheese-steak with thicker-cut and well-spiced steak--which was also delicious. Service was on the slower side, but it was packed, so at a less busy time than lunch on a Saturday, it'll go quick. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the decor is really nice. It has the vibe of a fine-dining restaurant but is eminently affordable even on a budget: with drinks and food, it was still less than $50 with tip. Would absolutely recommend.

This was a fun place to visit. The food was tasty and filling. The atmosphere was very nice as well. The only complaint from our party was that the service was pretty bad. We asked for napkins, they said they would bring them, but never came back. Same happened with our waters that were empty for a while so we had to keep hunting them down and reminding them. It would be a much better experience if they would be more proactive with keeping on top of refills and such, and not have the customer have to ask for things a bunch of times.

Food was delicious and the service was very kind. The only thing I would add is that unlike other Ethiopian places that I’ve been to, they don’t serve the food family style on one large plate that is shared amongst the table. Their food is ordered and served per person.
