Shall I start with the music, artwork, vibe or food first? Hard to decide because there all a 5☆.

With the hustle and bustle of University, it's totally a pleasure to retreat into Demera. The coziness and comfort call for you to return again and again.

The food never fails to delight. Savory flavors blended with the perfect amount of spices. The lemon dressing on the salad is refreshing. I enjoy the variety pf lentils and vegetables on the sampler. Be prepared to eat with your fingers, as injera becomes your utensils.
If you have never indulged in injera, it is a delicious spongy, form of cooked dough. The lamb tibs are spicy and tender. Several types of meats are served as well as fish too.
A full bar 🍸too, if you just want to stop in for a drink.
We were the only guests and enjoyed great conversations with the owner.
If you are looking for a new place since Fasika closed. Give them an opportunity to serve and feed you.

On the hunt for some tasty East African fare in the cities? If so, this is definitely a place to try! This is an unassuming little place that offers spectacular food.

I was in for dinner with a group of business associates, including one who is a little older than me and had spent something north of a quarter of his life living in Ethiopia. He spoke a couple of dialects and did a great job explaining the whole experience to everyone at the table. I've been eating Ethiopian food for a couple of decades but have nowhere near the knowledge of their food, country, culture, etc. Certainly a learning experience that went well beyond the food.

We had a couple of platters for the 5 of us: one vegetarian and the other a meat-lover's paradise. I consider Ethiopian to be a cuisine so packed with flavor that I generally eat vegetarian. That said, the lamb, chicken and beef dishes all were incredibly delicious.

There are 5 vegetarian dishes that come with that platter. All were delicious but my favorite had to be the misir kay wot: red lentils with berebere and a bunch of other good stuff.

There were at least as many meat dishes and all were wonderful. The standout was probably the doro wat. I'm not sure I've had this one before but the flavors absolutely filled my mouth while I was eating the dish. Super tasty!

Demera is runned by a lovely couple Senait and Dawit. They have good food, coffee and are attentive to good service.
My husband and I often come to the restaurant for their Machiatto coffee and its delicious and a great pick me up. They also have very good Sambusas. Food is also very good and served with Injera. We highly recommend this restaurant!

This restaurant is DELICIOUS!! The staff are so kind and welcoming, and I keep coming back to this spot. I came in the summer to get a meat combo platter (delicious btw) when their electricity was out, but when we asked if we should come back at another time they were kind enough to still serve us! They have incredible hospitality and a fun atmosphere.

I love the Lamb Tibs <3 this is one of my favorite places in the twin cities!
