Nice place. Old classic supper club style. Service was great! Food was standard. Margarita Pizza was flavorless. Halibut was good. Risotto was ok.

My bestie has talked about this place for sometime now so we decided to kick off the weekend with dinner here. Had reservations at 6:30pm on a Friday in December. FYI- the parking is not the greatest. They do have a parking lot, however, good luck. Street parking is your other option. Once I walked in the restaurant I smelt the wood burning and it was lovely. Very warm and cozy... bit of cabin vibes. There's a few different fire places. The restaurant was decorated for the holidays which was nice. The table started with the buffalo shrimp for an appetizer. It was good. For my meal, I decided to go with a wood fire pizza because well the smell was just getting to me (in a good way). I ordered the Pepperoni & Italian Sausage with fresh jalapeños. It was very good. Enough for leftovers. My friends said their steak was delicious. I did try the mashed potatoes and those were very creamy and flavorful. There is something delicious about food cooked over open fire... Yum! Our waitress was fine. However, when we asked for our check, she put it all on one ticket, we asked for it to be split by our seat, and she got annoyed which bugs me. Overall, good experience and I'd return. Maybe next time I'll come for breakfast.

This restaurant is a little over priced for how basic their breakfast options are, but the food was good and the service was great. We visited on a Sunday morning and they had someone playing the piano which was a nice touch.

For an incredible pre-Wild game dinner experience, this is your best choice around the arena. Suggest arriving early (2 hours min) or make reservations. Sometimes a spot opens at the bar. We love the food and ambiance. Great cocktails too! The Sunday brunch is delish!

This is a hidden gem in the heart of the St Paul Seventh St hustle and bustle. The service was great. You could tell the waitstaff had their regulars but treated us just as well. The ambiance is wonderful and food fantastic. I would highly recommend if you are looking for something a level up from the bar restaurants lining Seventh St. You won't be disappointed.

Service and food was not up to par. It took about 20 minutes to get our drinks. Our food actually showed up before the cocktails. 2 of our 4 orders had cold poached eggs. It was disappointing as this is one of our favorite brunch spots.

Favorite haunt during state tournament. Great meal, warm atmosphere, great service! During lent they should toss one more fish on the menu like a halibut or tilapia. Something lighter. Salads were great as was the soup 10/10

I went to The Downtowner during the Boys High School Hockey Tournament. It was busy! The service was quick and seamless. They are very knowledgeable of the menu and how to handle a busy restaurant. It was so cozy and perfectly warm in there. The smell of the woodfire was the best! I ordered the lamb. It cames with rice and vegetables. I highly recommend it!

Halibut Entree at the Downtowner continues to rank among the best of any restaurants in the 7 county metro area. Current preparation served with grilled slices of sweet potato is wonderful.

As we have done for years, my daughter, granddaughter and I ate at the Downtowner between sessions of the MSHSL Boy's 2A Hockey Tournament. Despite the 2nd afternoon game going into double overtime, the Downtowner staff did a wonderful job adapting to a later than usual rush of customers. Food and service remained at the highest level despite a packed restaurant. The value for this wonderful experience should make the Downtowner a destination dining spot even when their are no events at the Xcel Center nor the Ordway.

We went for breakfast/brunch on a Saturday. Menu switches at 12:00- which seemed odd to us. The food was very bland- I had French toast with scrambled eggs and the French toast had zero flavor to it -none. It's French toast for goodness sakes! The eggs were blah and the Eggs Benedict my mom got was luke warm. Service was great but the meal was very disappointing.

Had a very nice time at The Downtowner. The restaurant was very clean, quiet, and welcoming. Our waitress was very friendly and polite, our beef tenderloin was excellent, the food arrived hot, and it was such a pleasant atmosphere to enjoy an evening out with friends.

Food was great. Service good. Interior really needs an upgrade. Same booths and decor from when I went for the first time in 2004.
