Came here on Valentine’s Day - our first time having ethopian food. Service took over an hour and forty minutes just to have a meal. We were told tea would be complimentary because they were out of the other type of tea but they still charged us. We sat for over an hour waiting for someone to bring us the check, while there were tables that were empty around us. It was really off putting and we noticed other customers near us who had the same experience of not having a server assist them. On top of us waiting for a check / tab - we had 3 plates of food that were dirty (our finished plates with our napkins) sitting on our table for an hour without anyone to come take them off the table. I am really sad because we honestly wanted to have such a food experience for the first time trying this cuisine, but waiting for so long - our server came to take our order, delivered our food, and we didn’t see her again until an hour and 40 minutes later when we had to flag someone else down for the check. The jazz band was incredible but this was a really disappointing experience for us and we won’t be back.

The best Ethiopian spot in Twin Cities! Vegan platter is my favorite thing to order, injera is always fresh and tasty. Staff is very kind and helpful :)

The vegan sampler was worth the ten minute walk in the cold from the hotel. Tasty and the people were quite accommodating.

The service was fine and the atmosphere excellent. However. the food was more bland than I've had at other Ethiopian resturants and slightly more expensive. We had the vegitarian sampler which was fine but nothing special. Along with that we had a lamb dish and a goat dish. Both were on the bland side, and the goat had small shards of bone.

This food was amazing. The hostess helped us choose an awesome option that worked great with my dietary restriction and the whole experience was great. The injera and vegan platter were amazing - would recommend this place to anyone. Thank you for hosting us!

While we were in Minnesota for our event, we had the absolute pleasure of dining at Erta Ale Ethiopian Restaurant. The owners, Amy and Derje, were the best hosts we could have asked for welcoming us with such warmth and genuine hospitality.
They treated us to a wonderful buffet that was overflowing with authentic Ethiopian flavors. The kitfo, aybe, and gomen were out of this world fresh, perfectly seasoned, and truly unforgettable. Every dish, from the injera to the wot and tibs, was prepared with care and love, giving us a real taste of home.
On top of the incredible food, the customer service was exceptional. Amy and Derje made us feel like family, ensuring we were comfortable and that every detail was perfect.
If you’re ever in Minnesota, Erta Ale Ethiopian Restaurant is a must-visit for the delicious buffet, the out-of-this-world kitfo, aybe, and gomen, and the amazing hospitality that makes you feel right at home.
