We decided to try a new spot tonight and found Forepaughs, little did we know we'd be stumbling into some of the best food we've ever eaten! The atmosphere was beautiful and cozy, the type of place to wear a long dress or jeans and a sweater. The service was incredible- want to shout out Anastasia, our server, who was so fun, knowledgeable, and helpful as our server and made sure we were happy with our experience the whole way through! I ordered the Chicken, and it was hands down the best chicken I've ever had. Perfectly cooked, beautifully flavored, and the broccolini and potatos were the perfect pairing. My partner had the orechiettie, and honest to God it redefined pasta as we've ever known it. Every bite was savory and creamy and blew us both away. We each had a cocktail or two- paper airplane, penicillin, and the irvine park swizzle (I think) and all of which were amazing. And to end it all we had the chocolate cake, and what a way to end it. Creamy, rich, and the chocolate pearls added a great texture! We are beyond delighted to have stumbled upon such a great spot, and will 100% be returning for another great meal in our new future.

The food was great, the cocktail was great, the flavor was spot on, as was the service. The reason for the 3 stars was the portion size. We get the fine dining aspect but this was just too small. The server apologized as she originally told us the entree size was filling. She brought us an extra entree. She went above and beyond, which helped this rating.

The good was very tasty. The entree portion at $36.00 alacart was barely the size of a very small appetizer . All 4 of our meals were extremely small. Maybe 6 noodles with the blue crab I had. The waitress was great but by the time you spent $55.00 on a meal and have to stop on the way home to get food it was frustrating. Would never go back or recommend it to anyone i like.

Forepaugh's had outstanding service and delicious food.

Bronson was attentive, personable and overall a fantastic waiter.

The venue has old time classic vibes. It is very well maintained with great attention to detail.

The canapés were delicious, one sausage one and a crab and pasta one. The ribeye and sea bass main courses were phenomenal. The ribeye was succulent and cooked to perfection.

This is an outstanding establishment that I would recommend for any special occasion including but not limited to wedding dinners, family reunions, birthday parties and dates.

Thank you to the host for the service last night! The food was amazing. The kitchen was a bit backed up, and our little party of two waited awhile to enjoy the food (our friend called at 9:02 after we ordered, and food arrived around 9:45, so I guess we waited somewhere between 45 and 70 minutes?). But someone - possibly the house manager - came by to personally apologize for the delay, which truly made our night. It’s always nice to feel acknowledged.

Honestly, we didn’t mind much - we were aware of the leisurely environment, I've been a server who also got a large party dumped on them, and we were having a time enjoying appetizers, walking around, excellent drinks, and great company (though we did start to run low on wine - that's when things got serious, uh oh! ;-). Don't forget to come back and check. ).

As someone who grew up on the East Coast, I’m extremely picky about scallops, and these were perfectly cooked - tender, flavorful, and seared just right. That level of quality is rare, even at upscale places. Overall, it was a fantastic first-time experience, and I’m already looking forward to coming back.

My wife went there with friends and they waited almost an hour for beer and wine drinks, no mixed cocktails. Ridiculous.

I don’t really know how to feel about this place. I went in with high expectations because I’ve been wanting to try the “chef’s” food for a while, but haven’t had the time. Yesterday I finally went for a late lunch, and I was greeted by a waiter. I told him I had a reservation, but he seemed confused and went to get the host. The host greeted us with a weird look and said, “What is going on?” I repeated that I had a reservation, and he responded that the table wasn’t ready, even though the restaurant had just opened and was practically empty. We sat at the bar to wait for a table.

The waitress was nice and explained the menu very well. We ordered two lemonades, a crudo, and scallops as appetizers, and bread. For our mains, we got the smash burger, a ribeye steak with truffles, and a cacio e pepe. For dessert, we ordered the five-layer chocolate cake.

The waiter explained that all food was made in-house and prepared with products from Minnesota. That sounded great, but the quality of the food wasn’t. If this is intended to be a high-end restaurant, the ingredients and execution must match the price. The crudo was very simple and needed more flavor and acidity. The scallops’ flavor was completely overpowered by the bacon and corn. The burger tasted like a regular chain-restaurant burger. Apparently, it won a neighborhood burger award, but to me, it was very basic.

The steak was raw, not medium as they recommended and as I had asked for. It also tasted like supermarket USDA choice meat, tough to chew. The flavor was good, but the quality and temperature were not. The cacio e pepe sauce tasted great, but the pasta was undercooked. I get that they want al dente, but someone should taste it before it leaves the kitchen. I would almost rather have slightly overcooked pasta than crunchy pasta.

The location is beautiful, and apparently, the building is haunted, according to the waiter.

We paid almost $250 for food that felt like the quality of a regular chain restaurant. I can compare it to places like Crave or Texas Roadhouse. There aren’t many high-end restaurants in the Twin Cities or the surrounding area, and I had high hopes. For that amount of money, you can eat at Kado No Mise or Demi and get much better quality. Spoon and Stable is a better option. Travail Kitchen is also a better option at a similar price. Overpriced food doesn’t bother me when the quality, flavor, and service match the price.

I’ve been to Michelin restaurants in shorts and a hat, and I have never been greeted at the door with, “What is going on?” Maybe they were just having a bad day. I might try it again, although consistency is important to me.

We will see.

Great atmosphere and great food. The Sweet Pea Agnolotti pasta paired with the Sea Bass was perfect. Our waiter suggested this duo and it was amazing. Dining in the old mansion is a unique and fun experience.

My spouse and I were excited to finally visit this restaurant after its reopening as we've celebrated many special occasions at Forepaugh's in years past. Anyhow, we were not disappointed. We had reservations and were seated promptly on the main floor in a room with 5 tables, so it was intimate and not too noisy, so we could enjoy our conversation. Our server was wonderful and the food excellent! My spouse had the lamb chops, while I had the surf and turf, both done perfectly! I highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion, but it is wonderful for those special occasions when you want an intimate dining experience in a historic mansion with superb food and service!

Beautiful dining and the food is amazing. Unfortunately my group was late to our reservation and yet they still got us in. We where going to be late for our haunted St. Paul tour because it took time to get us seated but they where so kind and it's understandable because they have 7 dining rooms and 1 kitchen plus so many people to assist. Regardless, our server Molly was spectacular! She asked us if we had plans and when we told her she asked us what time we needed to get there she told us she couldn't make any promises but she would do her best. She truly went above and beyond for us! I had the salmon and it was SO delicious. Everyone was hypnotized when the food came out because it looked, smelled and tasted amazing!

Have eaten here twice since the reboot last yr including last night. Both times the food, service and atmosphere all top shelf. Unique and irreplaceable building full of authentic character.
Bronson, Sean and rest of staff were remarkable and most caring to mine and my guests needs.
Yes, the Beef Wellington was delicious and worth the $. Wine selection by the sommelier, Hoyt, matched to food courses expertly.
Well done Forepaugh's, glad you are back!

First time eating here and thought it was a cool space. Love the vibe. Unfortunately, the cocktails were better than the food. Chicken sandwich was sad. It was bland and even Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich had more flavor and crunch. The pasta was okay, borderline too salty. The fries were the only thing that was decent. Will not be back. Too bad cause the cocktails were good!
