Phenomenal restaurant through and through. The vibe is at least a 10/10, the drinks match the vibe and have been incredible. The specials made us switch our game plan going in and it was a great choice. Id highly recommend forepaughs and we'll be back many times.
My favorite for delicious cocktails and great apps!
We went here for the first time for my husband’s birthday dinner and I was so impressed with the service and food. David was a great server — very attentive and had great recommendations. The sea bass was 20/10. The ambience is also so cool. We are excited to go back.
Great happy hour deals. Elise was an awesome bartender. Will definitely be back to try more of the menu!
Gordon Ramsay would be proud/jealous! Imagine walking into a fully restored turn of the century mansion with fireplaces in every room, and being greeted by a friendly team as they walk you upstairs to one of the coolest patios in the Twin Cities! And then imagine seeing beef Wellington on the menu! I have two rules when I’m going to a restaurant, number one, the minute I see Beef Wellington on the menu I immediately put down the menu. Rule number two, I then try to find the chef and give him a hug for making something that takes over 24 hours to prepare! 🤣.
My wife and I did the date night special which was great considering all the best things are on that date night menu, typically you see middle of the road items on those menus but this one is a straight up value! Everything was deliciously seasoned and prepared and cooked. You can tell they use top level ingredients. And the final kicker, you can get 3 ounces of truffles for $15! If you have been to other restaurants where they offer truffles, you know that they charge $30-$60 for 1 ounce. So in the end you are practically making money here, lol.
We are already planning to come back and bring our friends and family. So happy this landmark was able to reopen!
If you’re searching for a place that turns dinner into a full-blown experience, Forepaugh’s in Saint Paul is it. We recently indulged in their curated Date Night menu, and from the first bite to the last spoonful of dessert, every dish exceeded our expectations. We started with the Fried Calamari, perfectly crisped and golden, served with a fennel saffron aioli that added just the right touch of brightness and complexity. It was a strong opening — light, flavorful, and gone far too quickly. Next came the Orecchiette, a pasta dish that somehow managed to be both comforting and elevated. The duck sausage was rich and deeply savory, while the broccoli rabe and Calabrian chile added balance with just enough bitterness and heat to keep the bite interesting. For mains, we shared the Petite Filet Surf & Turf and the Roasted Sea Bass — and honestly, I couldn’t tell you which one was better. The filet was melt-in-your-mouth tender, paired with a buttery lobster reduction that made each bite luxurious. Meanwhile, the sea bass was delicate and beautifully cooked, served over a creamy taro risotto that was both inventive and satisfying. The flowering cauliflower added a perfect seasonal, earthy crunch. And then came the showstopper — Baked Alaska. This dessert was nothing short of theatrical in flavor and presentation. The strawberry semifreddo layered with vanilla meringue and olive oil cake was both light and indulgent, ending our night on the sweetest high note imaginable. The ambiance was warm and romantic, the service was polished yet friendly, and the pace of the meal allowed us to savor each course without feeling rushed. At $150 per couple, this Date Night experience felt like a steal for the level of quality, creativity, and care that went into every plate. Forepaugh’s isn’t just a place to eat — it’s where memories are made. Five stars, hands down. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Had a really enjoyable experience, bolognese and burger was delicious!
Unique fine dining experience with exceptional culinary and service talent: off the chart Beef Wellington with seafood dishes of equal quality, esp the seabass.
One of the most remarkable fine wine lists in the midwest serviced by a most talented sommelier who knows both the wine and food menu.
Many have said in prior reviews that this is a great restaurant for life's big events; agree, however will not wait and look forward to returning in the near future.
Lastly, appreciate the commitment made in the remodel...well done.
My husband and I went to dinner here for the date night special on Friday evening. Our reservation was for 7:15 and we were seated right away. The seating is unique because there are many different rooms between the two levels of the restaurant. Our table was tucked in a large bay window with park views. Our server, Kaitlyn, was excellent and very helpful. Her recommendations were spot-on and her timing of service allowed us to enjoy our meal and feel taken care of the whole time. We shared the Steamed Mussels and the Duck Orechiette pasta for our appetizers. We both loved the pasta and would've gotten two of that if that was an option. The mussels lacked flavor beyond the fishy mussel taste. For the entrees, my husband got the Lamb and I got the Beef Wellington. My husband said the black garlic and risotto overpowered the taste of the lamb, but it was good overall. I thought the Beef Wellington had good flavor and was cooked perfectly. We both agreed the Chocolate Cake was worth saving room for. In the end, we would like to come back for a happy hour on the patio. The upstairs patio especially has a lot to offer! The only thing we would change about our experience was the indie-pop music playing over the speakers in the restaurant. At times, it took away from the atmosphere.
Had an amazing dinner at Forepaugh’s in St. Paul — the food was incredible (highly recommend the filet and truffle mashed potatoes), the atmosphere was beautiful and cozy, and our server Dave truly made the night unforgettable. He was super friendly, gave great recommendations, and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. Can’t wait to go back! Highly recommend asking for Dave!

Amazing food and drinks! Ambience is so beautiful and in an amazing location.
A glamorous place with wonderful food! Divine drinks!
Sat at Molly’s table, good experience.
I want to love Forepaughs, but struggling. Our food was good, not great. I find the portions to be a little on the small side. We have ordered the entree size mafalde pasta 2 different times and thought the portion size was small. Sea bass was delicious. My daughter ordered the shellfish rigatoni. Portion was small and rigatoni was black in color, so I guess it was squid ink ? Menu didn’t mention that. Brussel sprouts were good, but again portion size was small.
