Beautiful restaurant, kind waitstaff, and beautifully presented food. However, the prices are a bit outrageous for what you get. I’ve had many fine dining experiences, but the brunch here doesn’t feel like one—despite the fine dining prices. The $13 “Danish pancakes” are especially misleading. By definition, a pancake is flat; these were more like donut holes, and just a few of them for that price feels unreasonable. It’s hard to imagine anyone leaving this restaurant feeling full.
I left feeling a bit scammed. And hungry!
Great service, nice atmosphere and the food was simple but done very well.
Delicious food, great service and a nice atmosphere. A lot of great vegetarian options!
We stumbled onto this place by picking it at random from google. We sat at the bar and had great recommendations from the servers / mixologists. We had a very enjoyable meal. Highly recommend finishing the meal with a fresh baked cookie 😀
What a Find! Exploding with flavor and atmosphere, this modern farm fresh culinary wonder will awaken and satisfy your taste buds, and smooth your soul.
Tucked away in this quaint area in Saint Paul, it is worth driving any distance if you live in, or are visiting the Twin Cities. With top chefs preparing exquisite dishes, accompanied by a perfect cocktail or hand crafted soda, you won’t be disappointed. I enjoyed the grilled prawns, and the grilled artichoke hearts, with the outstanding Focaccia bread (do not miss this focaccia, it’s worth breaking your grain free diets!)
I missed the adjoining farm stand but given the fine quality of my dining experience I am sure it is most excellent. Highly recommended!
Thank you Herbst Eatery team for a wonderful experience on my visit.

We visited for brunch on Mother’s Day and it was absolutely delicious !! The staff are attentive and the food is great. Who knew cauliflower could taste so good!
I’d ask simply that the plum and raisin muffins become a permanent feature as they were so delicious. 10/10 from my husband and I who are huge foodies .
In the Twin Cities, dining out gets no better than Herbst. We had a lovely evening of birthday celebration, with delicious and inventive food. Could not have been better!!
Finally got a chance to come by for dinner. Ben did not disappoint. Ordered the Dorade and the Focaccia. Got to try the grilled prawns and the tempura asparagus. Dorade was served with white asparagus, an interesting carrot, and peas. Crispy skin and a nice white fish filet. Interest asparagus side, green goddess dressing and parmesan cheese and a cured egg, not sure what a cured egg is?
All really good, can't wait to try dinner again!

Gorgeous food and the yummiest food. I love this farm to table experience and how the dishes didn’t leave me feeling heavy. I left satiated and felt like the tastings of everything we had were so satisfying. We had a party of 6 and got a bunch of starters, entrees, sides and grains and it worked great for nibbling on everything and getting enough. The vibe there is stunning and it just all was perfection all around.

Really enjoyed seasonal vegetable dishes—wonderful flavors! The duck was a surprise hit. It was very delicious with the black eyed peas and sauce. Everything was well marked for gf and most things were gf without changing the dish, which is the best. The room was a little noisy but not terrible, and they don’t currently have any gf dessert, which just seemed weird since they pay attention to this during the rest of the meal. We ate enough, though that we didn’t need dessert. I would come back here as the seasons change to taste the new offerings.
Had a very nice meal at Herbst with friends from out of town. We enjoyed the beautiful space and thoughtful menu. The cocktail options were especially great, with categories for style of drink and full, low, and zero proof options within each.
A few misses on the menu and a fairly slow service were the only small things that took away from the overall experience. Looking forward to coming back for another visit.

Herbst restaurant was recommended to us, so we stopped by for an early dinner. Though we hadn’t made a reservation, it wasn’t an issue on a weekday. We were warmly greeted by the friendly host and seated immediately. We had the option to sit inside or outside, and chose indoors to enjoy the cozy atmosphere. The dining area was spacious and airy, with a bar surrounded by comfortable stools and a striking modern chandelier. The open-concept kitchen provided a fascinating view of the chefs in action. I also took a quick peek at the outdoor courtyard, which looked like a lovely spot for al fresco dining.
Our server arrived promptly with water and menus. The cocktail selection was exciting, featuring unique creations, some with Scandinavian influences that warmed my Danish heart. We opted for three cocktails: Mineral, Earthy, and Funky—each was equally delicious. You can choose from full proof, low proof, or no proof options depending on your alcohol preference.
For dinner, we tried the Rainbow Trout and two pasta dishes: Lumache and Fusilli. All were flavorful, though the trout could have benefited from a starch or vegetable to round out the plate. The Lumache was especially memorable, and I’m eager to have it again. While the desserts looked tempting, we were pressed for time and had to skip them—something to look forward to on our next visit!
Before leaving, we checked out the farm store next door, which offered a variety of local goods and gifts. Overall, it was a great experience, and we’re excited to return!

We live in the area, so when I saw Herbst go in I was pretty excited to check it out. The vibes are magnetic - very good curb appeal. I finally made it for dinner recently. Went for my birthday, which makes the experience perhaps even more disappointing. The food was…pretty good. I enjoyed it. The service was pretty terrible. About what I would expect if I were at a Perkins in a small town and my waitress was a bored, uninspired high schooler. Like so sorry I’m inconveniencing you by dining here.
When I’m eating in an establishment that looks like this and costs this much, I expect a lot more. If I’m paying Perkins prices, I’m not mad about Perkins service. Actually now I feel bad for giving Perkins a hard time. I’ve had much, much better service at Perkins than I’ve had here. Really bummed this place can’t be a local favorite we walk to regularly.
