Great coffee, service, music, atmosphere, etc... But the wifi is consistently the worst I've experienced.

Nice little coffee shop, friendly staff, not a ton of seating but maybe 6 tables and 6 or so seats along the windows. Picked up a coffee and enjoyed the vibe. Small selection of pastries, also offer tea and Macha.

Sign on the door is “masks requested” or something like that. November 2024
The coffee shop ambience is completely missing, the interior is clinical, empty, and cold. Staff were apathetic at best, wouldn't make eye contact or engage with customers. Save yourself the trip, pick a different coffee shop.

I really wish they’d remove the cortado and other small drinks from their menu. When I see cortado on a menu it makes me think the roaster or owner teaches their staff how to make them. I’ve tried a cortado here twice and the espresso pulls are always super sour and barely drinkable. If they only advertised their seasonal and 12+oz drinks, it’d be totally fine cause it dilutes the taste of their espresso pulls when they’re off which happens a lot for me. The only good drinks I’ve had here is larger ratio of milk to espresso like a hot or iced latte. I do love the retail products they stock as well. It’s nice to be able to grab kalita filters for home in person.

I really want to love this place, but it's just alright.
A lot of hype for this place, so that kind of set the bar high for my expectations of the coffee, but it didn't blow me away. Prices were reasonable. Black coffee was decent, Americano was decent, lots of competition in the area and they're doing their best, just not my favorite but good choice to mix things up. I'll probably go back again and keep trying things. I really want to love this place, but it's perfectly alright.

This is a nice cute little coffee shop. I got an iced mocha and it definitely did not disappoint. It had a nice rich chocolate flavor, and was great. Will definitely come back.

It would be nice if they had gluten free options in the small baked goods section and dark-roast beans available for purchase(it is possible that they do have such beans and I've just gotten unlucky with timing). I do appreciate the milk options, though, which accommodate non-dairy needs quite well. Otherwise, they have good drinks, a good environment, and friendly and helpful staff.

For all those coffee snobs out there, this is your place for amazing coffee! Recommend either a regular cup of their delicious tasting coffee or their "Something Fun" latte!

AMAZING COFFEE. Just go here. The coffee is so so good and their lattes and specialty drinks also never miss. The customer services is amazing and the baristas know their stuff. I have never had a bad experience at roots. There is free street parking too! The only down side are their croissants which have a dense crumb and odd sweet taste. However avoiding that this place is perfect! Its also has a nice relaxed vibe thats great for studying (:

I rarely write reviews but, this place is awesome. I am very picky about my coffee (and getting what you pay for) and Roots actually puts a good amount of espresso in their drinks. And their cold brew is strong. Most places nowadays you're paying upwards of $7-8 for basically a glass of milk with a whisper of coffee, but Roots delivers the caffeine! The only other two places I have found that are on par with this are Cafe Ceres (can only vouch for the Linden Hills one) and Ember and Bean in Hudson, WI.
