The only reason I give three stars on atmosphere is that on a Saturday afternoon with a reservation in a mostly emplty dining room they chose to seat us at a table right outside, I mean RIGHT OUTSIDE the ladies bathroom. Our guests were already seated when we arrived and I immediately moved us to another table. Just no reason for that. The food, beverages, and service were wonderful!

Editing my review as of Nov 2021 since it is under new management. I have yet to try it because I drove all the way there today and they closed for Thanksgiving week. But when you called, there was nothing in the recording about their hours changing so I wasted a trip driving there. Thanks for nothing
Finally went there, April 2022. My review stands at 2 stars. This place is only a shadow of its former self when it was the Happy Gnome. Uncomfortable hard bench seats in the dining room and slow service. Menu is decent but beer was warm and foamy. Ugh. The appetizer wings are bad, just pieces of fried chicken. My wife said the stroganoff was quite good, the chicken pot pie was oily but the crust was at least flaky. I'll never be back.

Great hidden gem of St. Paul. The house Old Fashioned is a delight. Be warned, this is a Curling Bar as the St. Paul Curling Club is next door. But, it's a fun crowd and the cocktails are great. Killer happy hour menu and the food is great. A must visit.

We had a group of over 100 Drake Football families and alumni meet at The Gnome to “tailgate” prior to our game against St Thomas. Kevin and our servers were AMAZING and made sure everyone had a great time. Will definitely be our go to in the seasons to come.

I had an AMAZING dinner there (I literally just got home and felt the need to write this review). First of all, my waitress was SO nice and funny, she helped us decide what to eat. - we ordered -dill pickle dip -cheese curds -spicy steak sandwich dip -bacon cheeseburger

YOU GUYS. All of it was amaazziiinngg! I was uncomfortably full and couldn't stop myself from finishing my plate.
Beautiful venue and great pub food. All of our food was great. Our server needs to learn gracious manners. Upon greeting we we asked for our drink orders. My sis in law said she’d like the house red. The server pointed out the brand and said it’s a Cabernet. She said verbatim “Yeah, that’s fine”. He comes back takes our food order and she inquired politely about her wine as we had all received drinks but her and maybe thought the hold up was at the bar. Both my wife and so have been servers so we are patient knowing a lot of out of their control. He says and I quote “You never ordered a wine”. My SIL says smiling and a little uncomfortable “Yes I did”. He retorts with now some anger in his tone “No you didn’t”. I said “Yes she did and we all heard her”. He huffs off mumbling to himself.
Even if we were all wrong and he was right, a good server would simply say “I’m sorry, I must not have understood you or misheard you” etc. It set the tone for the night and had us all uncomfortable. If you see a young man that looks like the 90’s version of the lead singer of Nickleback be aware he may ruin your meal.
Even still the food tasted good regardless and the service wasn’t slow or inattentive. It was just attitude and me wondering if our food had spit in it.

I really liked this place. The food was amazing. I wasn't that hungry to begin with but once I tasted it, I couldn't stop eating. I ordered the pork belly wings and chicken piccata. The pork belly was crispy and juicy. The chicken was delicious as well. They have over 70 beers on tap and tried a flight. Very good selection. They also did a flight of old fashions with whiskey, rum , gin and tequila. I will say that there is only one way to make an old fashioned and it does not include gin, rum or tequila! Over all, very good experience and our server was bad ass.

They have like 50 really cool beers on tap. And a happy hour! What beers are happy hour discounted? Miller Lite, Bud Lite and Michelob.🤣🤣🤣 They had one other but were out 🤣🤣🤣
