What a fun and lively place. It’s an experience one can’t miss. My daughter, her friend and I traveled around the corner only looking for food after having driven and hour and a half to pick up her wedding dress. What we got was an atmosphere that is indescribable. The closest word would be otherworldly. Not in a mystical way, just so very different. It’s not what it seems on the outside. The staff were friendly and food was great. I have food sensitivities and walked out full and feeling good!

First time ever experiencing cheese curds and the burger with melted cheese from the center !! I can’t remember our waitress name but she gave us the best recommendation. This was my first time visiting Minnesota and I was thrilled to have found this place. If I ever return to St. Paul’s I will make it a point to come back.
I thrived the sweet potato fries - cooked to perfection seasoned with sugar and cinnamon (I prefer Ceylon cinnamon). The original cheese curds - it was like funnel cake and cheese without the sweetness. And the nook burger- the patty was seasoned so well!! First time I’ve ever wanted to lick a burger lol.

Charming, satisfying, and one-of-a-kind, my first time visiting The Nook left nothing to be desired. A great spot for wings, burgers, and beverages, The Nook is one of the best of what the Twin Cities has to offer. I was blown away by the spacious bar and dining space, complete with a bowling alley and an interior plastered with dollar bills signed by customers. Endlessly re-visitable, I’m grateful to the friend that brought me here and can see myself being back. My thanks to The Nook!

I travel a lot for work and usually look forward to trying new restaurants. After enjoying Matt’s and 5-8 from my previous travels, I figured I’d give this place a shot. Big mistake, walking in here was like walking into a bad decision you can smell.
The first thing that hits you is the stench, like a cocktail of stale beer, mildew, and a rag that’s been used to mop the same floor for decades. Forget “dive bar charm” this place has the ambiance of an abandoned bowling alley mixed with a bus station bathroom.
I sat down at the bar at 7:03. At the host stand, there were two kids, faces glued to their phones, clearly more invested in their social feeds than doing their jobs. I wasn’t greeted, seated, or even acknowledged. At 7:08, I had to grab menus myself like I was sneaking into some closed-down diner. By 7:18, still nothing, no hello, no water, no sign of life from the staff. Dead silence in a dead business.
Since no one bothered to acknowledge, just decided to get up and leave. On my way out, I was treated to a dirty glare from a man who looked like he hadn’t seen soap in weeks, greasy hair with streaky highlights, scowling at me like I was out of line for expecting, you know, actual service in a restaurant. He looked less like an employee and more like someone squatting in the building.
This wasn’t just poor service, it was a complete collapse of what dining out is supposed to be. The place is dirty, the staff are indifferent at best and hostile at worst, and the vibe screams neglect.
Honestly, it feels like a building that stopped caring years ago but somehow forgot to close its doors.
If this is supposed to be competition for Matt’s or 5-8, it’s laughable. Save yourself the trip unless you enjoy wasting your evening staring at sticky floors and being glared at by people who clearly resent having a job. I gave them 15 minutes to prove they cared about a paying customer. They didn’t. And they won’t.

Loved our visit here. The stuffed burgers are AMAZING, and our server was fantastic (even showed us all the instock shirt options for purchase, which we bought one.) The least best part of the experience was the host who seemed confused about us requesting to be seated downstairs, but wont stop me from coming back.

It's a decent spot. Been here maybe 10 times over the last 15 years. It's Matt's/5-8/Nook. If you're looking for a solid 🍔 you should get yerasse here. If you're looking for a slab of meat that's gonna change your life - this ain't it.

So fun! Amazing gooey cheesy delicious burger. The nicest bartender. She shared some history of the place which is always nice to hear stories. Donated a dollar to the collection.
