Came here for an afternoon of bowling and food. The bowling itself was an old-fashioned experience, with no automated score keeping systems. I appreciated the authenticity, although one thing to note: when you bowl a strike, the pins don’t come back so you have to hit the reset button. Wasn’t common knowledge because we witnessed other groups getting waitstaff attention due to the issue.. putting up a sign that explains the process would likely help future customers, and save time for the staff having to explain..The place definitely has charm, although I was concerned about cleanliness. It’s dingy, musty, & doesn’t seem to have been cleaned in years.. at least where we ate (the bowling alley downstairs). Walls in the bar downstairs are covered in dollar bills which is fun but also just.. unsanitary. Who knows how long they’ve been there, collecting dust/debris and grease. Brought hand sanitizer luckily.A member of our group used the bathroom and said they wouldn’t have used it if it wasn’t an emergency.. so, there’s that. With all of that said, I’d still come back for the food, just upstairs or takeout. Their burgers and bar snack food were wonderful! Especially the fries and cheese curds. And the service friendly and attentive. Overall a good experience.Parking: Sunday afternoon had plenty of free street parking.

Still have some of the best wings, burger baskets and cheese curds around. If you have time you can even bowl in the basement, or decorate the decore with some dollar art. I like the big guy bite. Enjoy.Parking: Parking is the worst part about this place. Kinda stressful in the winter but it's totally worth it once you try the food.

I am a convert to the Homer Simpson burger. Who would have thought of using a glazed doughnut could be a bun is a genius.

My visit to The Nook in St. Paul was a delightfully cozy experience that perfectly captured the essence of a neighborhood gem. Nestled in a quaint corner, this local haunt is famed for its juicy burgers and the warm, welcoming ambiance that makes you feel like a regular the moment you step inside. The interior of The Nook is charmingly small and intimate, with a genuine, old-school bar feel that adds to its character. The atmosphere is bustling yet friendly, filled with the chatter of happy diners and the clinking of glasses. The highlight of The Nook, undoubtedly, is their burgers. I opted for the "Juicy Nookie," their take on the Juicy Lucy, and it was a revelation. The burger was expertly cooked, with the cheese perfectly melted inside the beef patty, creating a gooey, delicious center that was both flavorful and satisfying. The meat was seasoned well, and the bun was fresh and soft, holding everything together beautifully. In addition to the burgers, their homemade fries were a standout, being crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Paired with a local craft beer from their extensive selection, my meal was comfort food done right.Service at The Nook was impeccable. The staff was attentive and quick, ensuring our drinks were never empty and our meal was to our liking. They seemed genuinely interested in making our experience memorable, which was much appreciated. In conclusion, The Nook is a must-visit for anyone in St. Paul looking for a hearty meal in a snug, friendly setting. It’s perfect for a casual night out with friends or a relaxed dinner after a long day. With its combination of delicious food, a cozy atmosphere, and excellent service, The Nook certainly left a lasting impression on me.

The classic Saint Paul hangout! Great food and a busy atmosphere. We went on a Friday at 6pm and waited inside for a reasonable 25 minutes to get a table for 2. Fish fry Fridays, Jucy Lucys, beers and more. We'll be back.
