I found the place. Go here. Order the Chicago polish (if you eat meat, that is; I rarely do, debated it and ordered this anyway … definitely glad I did!).
Best hot dog (well, beef hot dog type thing) I’ve possibly ever eaten. Cooked to order, came with the standard toppings (which turned out to be onions, mustard, & ketchup) on what I believe was a poppy seed bun. Fabulous! I’m picky, too, and this was fantastic.
Also bought chocolate cake (so many kinds — carrot cake and cheesecake, especially, made the decision hard), and am definitely going back for more. Not sure where the cake is made, but it’s PERFECT: dark chocolate that reminds me of long ago box of expensive chocolate with those dark, sweet (but not overly sweet!) cherry cordials. It seems someone has not only captured that flavor, but has also done the impossible with this cake, and managed to convince me that MAYBE I do like dark chocolate, after all! Icing is perfect, cake is perfect, texture of both and flavor of both totally suited to each other.
Sprite on top made the entire thing even better somehow!
Employees are great — polite, friendly, helpful, and rarer still, genuinely caring about each customer and their order. Great store, as well, with everything from cat and dog food to OTC meds like Motrin and Tylenol, tons of great brands of food at low prices I haven’t seen since probably 2015. Absolutely absolutely would recommend, and will be going back.

This place just opened and we had to try it out! So so good! We ordered the Philly Cheese Wrap and Catfish and Wings. Definitely recommend! Great customer service from Abdo. Will be back ☺️

Great prices and customer service at Thomas Deli. I especially want to highlight Fat Man’z Kitchen located inside. Fantastic food, especially the Chubby Shrimp po’boy! Easily the best shrimp po’boy I’ve ever had! The lobster mac and cheese has a full lobster tail! I will be stopping by Thomas Deli for groceries and phenomenal food from Fat Man’z Kitchen!
This place use to be one of my favorites until I had to move over a year ago, I moved back down here to order my usual philly cheesesteak meal and the fries were under cooked and soft, the philly wasn't made the way I liked it. I asked for my fries to be well done not under cooked. Gonna think twice before going back
