Does not Lie

Original review was 2 years ago...NOW price per couple is 100+ but it's okay it's Fusion-food and it has flavor..but cheap!

My only issue with this place is: where is the 6-8oz tuna steak? Where is it on the menu? Can't find it anywhere in MN and the one place that should have it DOESN'T.

Atmosphere is good here when it's not packed..seating is like a downtown "uptown" minneapolis dive.

Speaking to my PRIOR LAKE people here, this isn't a cool place to be. A Pau nothing.

(Wait staff is nice)

We tried the new Pau Hana express. The food was amazing, as always! It was quick and easy!

Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly for my kids who are picky eaters, but we keep trying.

I came to here a lot for the past couple of years. The first time I came here my grandpa noticed extra small charges on the bill for paying with a card before we even paid the bill. My grandpa asked them about it. Well I have noticed it too. They add a charge to the bill for paying with a card but they don’t even know if you’re paying with a card or cash. When I pay cash, I ask them to take it off.

I get the same thing every time I come here, Steak Frites with extra sauce. For the past 2 years or so, it has been prepared the same way. I came here earlier this week, and I ordered the Steak Frites. I also order to go, so I always call because before recently, you had to call and talk to someone about ordering Steak Frites to go because it won’t look the same as when it’s plated, I totally understand. But because I call and order the same thing, I never look at the menu. When I got home, and sat down to eat, I opened the box and was so disappointed to see that instead of those curly potatoes that I would consider a fry, I had green beans and bites size potatoes. Nothing wrong with it, it just wasn’t what I was expecting. The sauce, was also different, it was like an oil which I did not like at all. The old sauces and the fry’s are what really pulled the meal together. But both of those gone, I paid $40 for something I could’ve made better at home. I was just really disappointed and I won’t be back since that was the only thing I ate off their menu.

Pau Hana is a great restaurant serving up delicious Hawaiian cuisine! My partner and I visited during the Mpls.St.Paul Magazine's Winter Restaurant Week event and had an excellent experience. The food was quite good (especially the Lava Lava KFC and ube panna cotta from their restaurant week menu), but their cocktails were what really blew me out of the water! I especially loved the “Gimli”—it was perfectly spicy and refreshing. The atmosphere is pleasant and comfortable too, and I thought their pizza oven was very cool looking. The service here is also top-notch: our server was super nice, attentive, and had great timing. I highly recommend checking out Pau Hana if you're in the area and looking for some incredible drinks and tasty bites!

What a gem! Selfishly I wish this place was closer to the cities. Shared 4 brunch plates with my group and not one of them disappointed. Chicken and waffles, French toast with the coconut syrup, wonton chicken pizza and the breakfast loco moco (comes with Portuguese sausage). Prices were completely reasonable despite what other reviews say, especially for how great the food was, and service.

We tried Pau Hana for restaurant week and were not disappointed.

Everything we tried was excellent. Super bright, fresh and tropical flavors is the best way to describe their food.

We tried a handful of things since it was restaurant week and so glad we did. It was a great way to see how their food was. We will absolutely be coming back soon to try their actual menu.

Highly recommend!

Came here during Restaurant Week. We shared the furikake chicken skewers which were juicy and savory sweet, and spicy ahi tuna bombs as the apps - amazing texture and flavor. Their duck banh mi pizza was good, but the ratio between meat and other toppings was off, though the crust was well made. Their version of the crab-crusted opakapaka must’ve been made special for RW. The size of fish was adequate on top of rice. While the presentation was quite pretty, I couldn’t finish the rice since it was too saturated with the ube beurre blanc - it tasted like rice pudding as that’s how sweet it was. It was a decent first-time visit, and worth coming back to try other things. Service was nothing to complain about, either.

The restaurant vibe is great! Love eating here. The food is a nice change compared to other restaurants in the area. They have a nice selection of seafood but also a variety of non seafood options as well

This place deserves to be packed wall to wall every weekend. They stand above their older sister restaurant of Lake & Irving in South Minneapolis, offering a great atmosphere and menu during both brunch and dinner. We never miss visiting during restaurant weeks. I believe it suffers a little bit from it's location - but if you're within 20 minutes of it, it is well worth the drive.

Thank you providing a great dining experience! The Show You pizza flavors left me wanting more. Enjoyed the snapper topped with lump crab served with a passionfruit beurre blanc and it was perfect. Appreciate feeling like I got my moneys worth. It is easy to go to dine out these days and leave filling unfulfilled but you didn't do that, thank you! We'll be back!

This review is part of Minneapolis Winter Restaurant Week, which was a 3-course dinner for $40.

Pau Hana definitely has tropical vibes from the decor to the food. I am excited to see a Hawaiian restaurant in Minneapolis because it's needed when living in the Arctic.

The beautiful plating of the opakapaka (a fish related to snapper) was good, but the layers underneath needed salt. The Ube Beurre Blanc was visually appealing on the bottom of the bowl, but the butter may have been too much. The dish has an herb oil and chili oil but couldn't taste it. This menu item is a specialty item in case you are looking.

The appetizer was a Furikake Chicken Skewer that was a little sweet but very savory. It's quite delicious for a bite, but it would be good in rice bowl or salad.

Now to the finale, Ube Panna Cotta! You want a dessert that is light, creamy, and a tropical dream. Order this visually stunning dessert. The toasted coconut and chocolate pearls were a nice add.

The Restaurant Week menu at Pau Hana was phenomenal! The service and food is always impeccable. If you haven’t made it out to Savage to visit Chef Ikeda’s Hawaiian Regional Cuisine restaurant, you are missing out!
