“A” for creativity, but an absolute “F” for execution. This was a Christmas present for my husband and I and it was not the romantic holiday celebration we had expected. It started out well enough. The snow globe had a cute love seat, The inside was decorated with twinkling lights and had a couple space heaters, which was nice because it was 20 degrees! The seating was a love seat that sat very low. The table was normal height. As a result, when sitting in the low seat, the table was at chest height. This was a problem because the fondue sat higher up since it was on an elevated heater. This required us to have to stand up every time we wanted to dip something in cheese. Almost immediately after our food arrived the power inside the snow globe went out, to include the three space heaters! (There were many extension cords for the space heaters, lights, etc., which obviously were too much and blew a fuse .) We alerted our waitress and she went to try and find help because she couldn’t figure out how to fix the issue. The waitress was gone for about 15 mins (which doesn’t seem like a long time, but when you’re outside, in a plastic bubble and it’s 20 degrees with the sun almost set, it’s an eternity!) we had to rush to eat our food as quickly as we could before it was totally cold. The waitress returned and was able to get the power on, but said we could only turn one of the three available space heaters on because all three running would trip the breaker again. (She said it was a problem they knew about and were working on fixing in the future.) Because the heat had been off for 15 mins, the internal temp in the globe had dropped significantly, a single space heater wasn’t enough to ever bring the temp back up. Despite the fact we were wearing our winter jackets, gloves and hats, we were freezing. Due to the fact it was so cold, we just asked our waitress to bring our s’mores so we could eat and leave. Our dinner reservation started at 4pm and was supposed to last until at least 530. We had finished dessert and requested our bill at 440! Our waitress apologized several times, but never mentioned alerting a manager or discounting our dinner. She presented our full bill ($175). We immediately asked to see the manager, politely explained what happened and requested our bill be modified based on our experience. The manager apologized and gave us a 50% discount, which we appreciated, but even that was too much to pay for the experience we had. Would absolutely NOT recommend.
This is a favorite restaurant! Every meal we've ordered is always delicious. Our server, Linda, was so delightful. It's people like Linda and Chef Connie that will keep everyone coming back. Beautiful views in the restaurant and the atmosphere is inviting. A great experience. 👍

Nice place, great view! Food was outstanding, service was fantastic!
The service was great and it’s a great location. But I had the all you can eat fish and chips and it was not good at all. The fish was full of bones, nearly inedible. I only had one piece and asked for more coleslaw instead of more fish and was told this wasn’t an option. Spent $50 and left hungry because of this.

The place and seating is good especially the outdoor seating with the beautiful view of the Superior Lake, but expect some mosquitoes.
The server was new I guess and didnt know about the ingredients of the dishes. We requested no bacon in any of the food we ordered and she confirmed the soup was veg but it was full of pork.
The place is better suited for beverages and friends get together.

We wanted to have dinner with a view and this place delivered! We sat on the patio even tho we had to go in to order cause it's kinda late in the season. But they brought our food out for us and we had a fantastic time! The food was all so delicious. We each got different items and cocktails. And we all loved what we had! And the view is amazing. Highly recommend!

The view and atmosphere was great as we had a wedding reception dinner there but wish they would have been more prepared. They already had the food out and it was all cold.

My wife and I usually stop at this place when we're up in the North shore region we stopped there for a late lunch not too long ago we were hoping to get a spot by the main window but the area where the bar is was closed so we may do with a table by the window also they must have added a new deck there as well because it was new to us they were also quite short-handed but they made do with the staff that was there we usually order the pork belly tacos which as always are amazing along with a couple of sides and 11 drop martini we both had which was amazing in itself overall despite not getting our seating in a usual spot with the amazing view of lake Superior it was still a good experience all around highly recommended.

Great view. The prices though are absolutely insane. Two bloody Mary drinks were $32.00…! I'm sorry but even in mpls they are not that crazy expensive. Think twice.

Over the years we have spent a number of our anniversaries at grand superior. It's a beautiful establishment with a great atmosphere. We're were a bit disappointed that the grille was closed due to short staffing. Our dinner in the burger bar area followed suit; short staffed etc. However the bartender, bartender trainee ( 2nd day) and the server (5 month employee) should be recognized and commended for their efforts. A bit chaotic, service a bit slow, but they were making it work given the resources had. The young lady sever worked extremely hard and maintained a smile and positive attitude. It was her interactions and positive attitude that made what could of been a disaster a pretty good experience ! The cook staff should be commended also as the food was very good !

We were staying at the Grand Superior Lodge and had planned to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary dinner at the Grill. Unfortunately, when we arrived, the restaurant was extremely short-staffed and clearly overwhelmed. The main dining area was closed due to low staffing, and they were turning guests away or suggesting they dine in town.
Even with a reservation, we were told we would simply have to wait for a table to open — and guests ahead of us had already been waiting 30 minutes or more. It was disappointing, especially given the occasion we were celebrating.
Instead, we decided to try Vue North at Superior Shores Resort, and it completely turned our evening around. The space was beautiful, elegant, and comfortable with leather seating, the staff was fantastic, and the food was excellent.
While it worked out wonderfully for us in the end, we truly feel for other guests who had to deal with the staffing and management challenges at the Grand Superior Lodge Grill. Hopefully, they can resolve these issues soon, as the setting is lovely and has so much potential.
