Good place
This place is way to expensive for what they offer. I was looking for a room in Walker for a concert at the local Casino. The only room I could find was at Chase on the lake. They told me that because it was a weekend I had to stay two night at $350 per night. I was stuck and had to stay there. They said they had very nice rooms all with beautiful lake views. See my picture for the beautiful lake views. Also for 350 a night we couldn’t get anyone to come to the room with extra coffee or towels for our second night. We were required to come down only to find out that no one was at the desk. Also our bathroom sink was very slow to drain and would fill to the top while only brushing your teeth. Also you would think for as much as your paying they would offer a breakfast. No they don’t. Nothing on the weekend at all then packaged muffins and Nescafé coffee and outdated milk on Monday morning. I would highly recommend not wasting your hard earned money at this fancy pants over rated hotel.
This is a Caribou coffee store. Love me some of that coffee, so coming here was great! Liked it and the store so much, I even bought a t-shirt!

My mint coffee was delicious, they had oat milk, and surprisingly good fresh scones in individual bags ready to go. Service was friendly and fast.

The location is great, close to town and the lake, which is what you're paying for. However, our room needed maintenance and the staff could be better. Our room had the potential to be great, yet was dusty, the kitchen sink was full of hard water spots which we left cleaner than when we came, a couple cobwebs in the room/bathroom, the bathroom door handle sticks so it's hard to get out which would be a hazard for kids along with the storage room in the bathroom being unlocked with paint cans in there, again a hazard for kids. On our checkout day, the cleaning staff opened our door before 8am with us still in our room when checkout is 11am. We also had asked for more towels during our stay and the staff never brought us any that day. Overall we loved the location but due to other concerns not sure if we'd stay here again.

I was so excited for a stay here after staying here ten years ago. Just my wife and me back then and I now have a family of three kids and expected to have a wonderful lake vacation. Booked 6 nights in a lakefront condo with 2 bedrooms. I even called and confirmed my room twice with the hotels as I’m travelling with pets and secured a pet friendly lakefront at the time. I then called a second time as I had booked my parents a room here to try to have them close to me. Instead at check in I’m told I’ll get a parking lot facing room after I had paid the premium cost for the lakefront. Huh what? Bad vibes from the start. This is where all it all started to go downhill. At check in I was instructed they may should have a condo the next day on the water so I was alright with the standard room for one night. The next day…didn’t hear anything for many hours even after talking to the girl at the front desk (that didn’t want to be bothered) I requested the manager to call me. Anyways I finally get a call in mid afternoon saying they have nothing. This is after the man the previous night saying they have an empty room that just had to be cleaned. Terrible communication. When you pay nearly 2k for 6 nights in a lakefront room you have reasonable expectation to receive what you had paid for and I paid for the lakefront expecting to enjoy the scenery on the balcony and go have meals for 6 nights overlooking the lake..instead I get a beautiful view of a parking lot that appears half empty ??♂️. No chill nights of enjoying my view after the kids are asleep. No breakfast overlooking the water..none of what I had expected from my rooms perks. My parents also decided to join me in a traditional room thinking we had the lakefront to hang out in…now my family gets no lakefront to enjoy at all and can stare at the managers convertible instead. My parents are older so they expected to hang in my balcony enjoying my view. New ownership??? Seems they don’t understand how hospitality works if this is what they got going on and can’t cater simple things like honoring the room we had actually booked. There was a lot of casual customer blaming going on that I truly did not understand. This is the first time in my many years of traveling I came across such a property so unwilling to be accommodating. The manager (who will remain unnamed at the moment) seems filled with a lot of typical empty answers of we’re sorry, it’s not our mistake it’s the booking sites, etc blah blah blah. This is after I see new guests checking into what should be my rooms. But they can’t honor mine cuz it’ll have a domino effect…No true offer for compensation..it’s difficult when it’s booked through a “third party” etc etc. About all the typical stereotypical answers you’ll get talking to a customer service chat bot. the lakefront was very important to me and the basis of my decision to stay here. Get this..I was even told by one of the employees I should be happy I even got a room…haha what? There a a million places on the lakes, I paid for a certain contractual obligation for a room I didn’t receive and I should be happy? Even after calling twice to confirm my room. It’s not a special treat to stay here, I guess I’ll contact booking.com now and see where that takes me. One thing I would have appreciated would have been a call stating they dont have the room prior to my arrival. It would have been last minute but I could have changed my plans accordingly. The rooms itself are not that clean either…stained carpets, mattresses, the little chase lounge in my room appears to have questionable white stains. Thick layers of dust in the window frames ( really that hard to wipe quickly?) Cobwebs all over the balconies, maintenance guy in redneck white truck speeding through the parking lot about running me over backing up from the dumpster area. The location is great, the beach is great and safe for kids, the resort has lots of good things going like those. But sadly as the other reviewers have stated it is indeed a somewhat neglected property. Hopefully the new owners cleans thin
New owners! I read the previous reviews before coming to Chase on the Lake, and a lot of them are negative. But the good news is there are new owners! There were a few times during our stay that you could tell things were in transition and I’m really hopeful things will continue to improve. That being said, this is a 100 year old historic lake front lodge. If you are so needy that you are going to complain about this place not being like a big name chain hotel, then you should just stay at a chain hotel. It is a beautiful, unique lodge but of course things are not perfect. I think I have a fairly unbiased opinion, I have stayed everywhere from jungle hostels to beautiful all inclusive resorts. I genuinely thought this was a nice place. We had a king suite and we appreciated having the separate living room and kitchen area. The bathroom was clean and nice, the bed was comfortable, and they provided a pack n play for our infant. The bartender made good drinks. The front desk staff were helpful. We enjoyed the beach area and our pontoon rental went smoothly. There is a great coffee shop just across the street. The indoor pool and hottub were nice! My only two negative experiences were in the restaurant, and again I think these will improve with the new owner. At dinner we were seated and a server never came to our table. We had to ask an employee to send someone over to our table, again no one came. We asked another waitress and she asked if we had been assigned to her. Obviously we did not know who had been assigned to our table. We finally ordered and the food took a very long time though it was good once it arrived. The next morning we had the breakfast buffet, it opened at 8, we arrived around 8:15 and were told it wasn’t ready, around 8:30 some of the items were out and they said we could help ourselves. The French toast was good but everything else was mediocre and really not worth $20 per person. I would definitely stay here again and I recommend it! Just be aware that you might prefer to eat off site.
Great place!

Usually, I'm one to let things go. But my experiences in Walker, Minnesota need to be shared with other travelers. Memorial Day weekend and all restaurants except Bensons and Subway are closed at 6 pm. This is supposed to be a vacation destination? We stayed at Chase on the Lake, pretty disappointed overall. I gave them a chance to respond to my review and got nothing. I had asked for a room with a deck on the lake, but did not get that. The pool was closed for cleaning? Maybe a better weekend or weekday would have been better. The restaurant ran out of food at around 7. pm, remember this is Memorial Day weekend, so are you kidding me? Ate at Subway, wasn't bad, actually . Furniture I. the rooms was beyond terrible. Ripes, wore out, uncomfortable. Mold and unclean bathroom. Staff was a bright spot, so cheers for them. Shingobee Restaurant was also so good on our second day. Food, staff, beverages, and lakeside seating was all very good. I'd go back there. I'm passed the excuse, that we can't find good help. We went to lodges on the North Shore for 4 days after this and all the staff was amazing .
