My wife and I went for dinner on a Thursday night. Service was excellent, and the atmosphere was nice. But the food was not as good as I would have hoped for the price. We shared a king crab roll, and it was ok. My wife had sushi tacos (tuna) and scallop tostada. Again, just ok. I had the grilled salmon, it was a bit over done and the crema lacked flavor. The best things we had were the lentils with my salmon. For the price, we expected better or more.

This is a Dad review: “I’m not judging, I’m just deeply disappointed in you.” This restaurant was on a great trajectory, with a wonderful, unique menu , and meaningful reasons to go. I travel globally and this restaurant was a Destination… a real highlight, and where I made a point of taking visitors. Also if we had vegetarian guests, this was the best vegetarian options around.
Now, it’s just another Japanese place. They say it’s inspired by Nobu. It’s not… Nobu is another of my Destination restaurants. The new menu is just generic Japanese. And basically no vegetarian options. Not bad, just deeply disappointing.

The new menu is not good unfortunately, we were so excited to try it. We miss the deliciousness that was Macanda, even the churros taste different now and some of their best but maybe not most ordered dishes are gone.

The best thing about this place is the atmosphere. They brought out everyone’s food and forgot about mine, I ended up eating a 46$ meal 2 hours later. Their portions are small and come with no sides. It’s pretty unbelievable and I’ve never had an experience like this anywhere else. Honestly, do not recommend this to anyone. So many better places in wayzata.

Amazing experience overall, 10/10. Waitresses were amazing, Sam and Allie. Knew the menu very well, had great recommendations for their favorite dishes and popular drinks and other items. Atmosphere was great, very nice, will for sure be back again. Already recommended to friends and colleagues.

Tonight might have been the best dining experience of our life……
When asked to pick the 1 restaurant in all of MN we couldn’t miss eating at our cousin didn’t even flinch and reservations were set at Maconda for 7.
The people ahead of us laughed and enjoyed the Lakeview a little long and we were offered a round of drinks as we patiently waited our turn.
We were promptly greeted by Allie who literally treated us as family and all was well until our dinner was hijacked by ninjas who hovered over our octopus, steak tacos and empanadas they demanded they couldn’t wait for! Out of nowhere…
Bam!!!! Ninja star into the eye of the bad guys via our server Allie with experience and precision. They immediately retreated and we laughed and enjoyed rounds of tres leches, gelato & churros to die for.
Thank you for a great evening full of fun, laughter and great food. Don’t make a mistake and demand Allie takes care of your next reservation!
Ally was our server, she was outstanding! The table was great, the food was fantastic, and the service was the best! Ally, thank you so much, we can’t wait to come back! Also, Thank you Ally for making my nieces birthday so special!

10/10 would recommend to friends and family. Food, service and atmosphere was on point. Came here to celebrate my wife’s 39th birthday and our 18th anniversary. Didn’t have a reservation and didn’t care. Sat at the bar, which was empty and first come, first serve, and had a blast. James, the Bartender, was excellent (kind, attentive and efficient) and made great recommendations. Asked for a gin drink (bartender’s choice and was not disappointed). Brian, also took care of us with some sake recommendations and was super kind and knowledgeable. We had zero expectations coming here and had an awesome time. We will be back!

My friends and I went there Sunday night for our birthday dinner and our server, Jordan, was FABULOUS!!! She was super patient with our complicated orders and was always attentive. The overall experience was amazing & the only lackluster when it came to food was the tacos, otherwise, every single dish we ordered was beyond our expectations! Our favorite dishes were the Wagyu steak and the Yellowtail Jalapeno sashimi (we ordered 1 and had to get a second order).

Appetizers and sashimi were delicious. Entrees and sushi were subpar. Timing of the kitchen + the sushi bar could use some improvement. Hot entrees arrived and were finished before sushi entrees arrived. Drinks took extremely long, as well, to the point where I wish I wouldn’t have ordered a second as it arrived when we were halfway through dessert and preparing to leave.
Lovely lake front property. I’d recommend coming for a drink and an appetizer or two and proceeding for dinner elsewhere.
I have been here a couple times and continue to leave disappointed. You’re better off enjoying a meal elsewhere in downtown Wayzata.
