Food was really good, could have been seasoned a little better but it was still good. I had a 16 OZ steak, fried onions and mushrooms with a loaded baked potato and salad and a drink and it was very affordable.
I would definitely stop again
The restaurant is at the far north end of Windom. It can be challenging to get here on a bicycle. It is on a busy highway. If you are vegetarian and end up here with your carnivore friends, look at the sides. They can be ordered for a few dollars each. I was able to get a good vegetarian meal for around $10. I ordered the Key Largo vegetables, cole slaw and macaroni and cheese. The vegetables were very good. There are some unusual bar stools that present a good photo opportunity...
If you get a chance to stop by Jack Slade in Windom, Minnesota, you are in for a great hometown meal. Every small town cafe/steakhouse should be based on its patty melt. Crispy marble rye and a juicy burger with sweet caramelized onions and the best hashbrowns smothered and covered. \nListen, it’s older, but the service is great and the food is hot and tasty. If you are on 60 heading to and from the cities, stop by for breakfast or dinner. \nLots of space for the kids to move...
