Food was delicious!!! Will definitely be back!
We went on Veteran's Day with my in-laws, who are all veterans, and we were very disappointed. Oh the food was definitely good, once we got it. But there was only ONE poor girl who was both bartending and serving everyone. We were served two drinks in an hour and 30 minutes, and that's how long it took to get our food. We couldn't believe how slow the service was. We have heard good things about the food, but no food is good enough for that kind of wait. Please, please, for your customer's and employees sake, make sure you are staffed properly! Especially on a holiday!
I ordered a sirloin steak and I think it was $28, it had so much fat, it clearly wasn't a sirloin steak. Even though they took $10, I highly doubt will be back. But I have to say our waitress was wonderful!!

I stopped in for a drink and saw they had a salad bar. I wasn't hungry but asked about a bowl of soup. $3 later, I had an excellent bowl of beef vegetable soup! The rest of the salad bar looked very fine.

The service was deeply unsatisfactory. The bartender, whose name I believe was Michaela, displayed a consistently hostile demeanor throughout our visit. Her facial expression remained fixed in a scowl, and she seemed incapable of even the most basic courtesies expected in the service industry. Her responses to requests were curt and delivered with palpable irritation. This created an uncomfortable atmosphere that significantly detracted from the overall experience.
A single staff member can dramatically impact a customer's perception of a business. In this case, the bartender's unprofessional conduct was so egregious that it overshadowed any positive aspects the establishment might have offered.
Management should address this issue, as such attitudes can drive away repeat customers.
I cannot recommend this venue for those seeking an enjoyable outing, as the poor service quality negates any other merits.

Aside from a long wait, the burgers were fantastic. I'd visit again.

Restaurantji Recommends
Soup and salad bar was pretty dismal. Wild rice soup very gelatinous and hardly any wild rice. Ketchup bottle brought to us had ketchup smeared all over the outside. Ravioli and sauce was not very good.

Traveling through Winona we searched for food and the Black Horse Bar & Grill came up over 4 stars and good reviews.
We stopped and wondered if it was open as Sunday afternoon.
I had the party melt and she had the club sandwich.
Food was great, highly recommend giving them a try. Next time we will share something.

Good variety of menu options and tasty food in large portions. Casual atmosphere, nothing fancy but comfortable and excellent service for a large crowd.
