There was a very friendly gentleman behind the counter. He was super friendly, quick, and accurate with my order. The food tasted very fresh, and it was prepared quicker than I thought it could be.

It doesn't seem like the employees are that happy to be there. The expression on their faces and body language looks like they are miserable, doesn't apply to all, but a few of them.

Went back in there after a year and saw the owner being rude too another customer I turned around and left.he does not deserve to have a shop in Winona. People may like his sandwiches, but his attitude is not good at all. I wish the city would look into it and shut them down. We don't need rude owners like that in our community.

This would probably be a 5/5 for me just for the name and the story behind the theme and sandwich names, but they were also really tasty sandwiches! The bread was chewy and fresh, and the sandwich fixings (I got the Tappy - salami, capicola, provolone, veggies & a vinegary dressing) were all very tasty and fresh. I also got a cup of the chicken dumpling soup, which had lots of big chunks of chicken and carrots and warm, soft dumplings in a creamy chicken base. I also really like that the bread "guts" (the strip of the inside of the loaf that is pulled out to make room for sandwich toppings) are given to the customer instead of throwing them away - it makes a perfect couple bites to dip into a bowl of soup! We found this place in Minneapolis and stopped for a bite during our drive back to Illinois, and I'm so glad we did. This may become a regular visit whenever we're nearby.Vegetarian options: Most of the sandwiches come with meat, but could likely be modified to remove. The Jacob Bluefinger sandwich is vegetarian (provolone, avocado, cucumber, sun-dried tomatoes, tomato, lettuce, mayo). A few of the sides don't have meat as obvious ingredients, (Mac & cheese, Beer Cheese soup, broccoli cheddar soup), but it's not entirely clear whether any of those use meat-based broths.Parking: Street parking on both 3rd St and Main St. When we stopped on a Sunday afternoon around 2, the street parking around the restaurant was pretty full. The spots on 3rd Street right next to the restaurant are 10-minute parking.Kid-friendliness: There is a kid's menu, and a poster giving the back story of the lore behind Erbert and Gerbert and their adventures. Could be fun for kids to discover and make their own stories about the characters!
