If you’re looking for truly exceptional fine dining, Catalpa is the place you’ll dream about long after the last bite. Every dish feels like a revelation, crafted with an attention to detail and flavor balance that’s rare to find anywhere. Chef Liz is nothing short of a culinary genius. Her creativity, mastery of technique, and impeccable taste shine through in every course. Whether it’s something classic, something bold, or something completely unexpected, she has an unmatched ability to elevate ingredients in a way that feels both comforting and extraordinary. Honestly, I’d eat anything she makes—or anything she recommends—without hesitation, any time. Catalpa isn’t just a meal. It’s an experience, and Chef Liz is the reason it’s unforgettable. Highly, enthusiastically recommended.

If you’re looking for the absolute best food ever, go see Chef Liz at Catalpa in Arrowrock, Missouri. Her food is the best I’ve ever had, and her creativity is like none other. Visiting Arrowrock is a treat, and dining at Catalpa is one of the best food experiences ever!! Highly recommended!!!

It was delicious and worth experiencing once. We only had appetizers and a mixed drink, they were all delicious but bring your wallet. Just know that you're spending a bit to keep this small business in an even smaller town open. Keep up the good work!

Absolutely wonderful meal from start to finish. Our table had the duck, swordfish and filet mignon entrees and all were delicious. All entrees were creatively and perfectly prepared. I would say this could be a destination restaurant, worth traveling to Arrowrock just for the restaurant, although the Lyceum Thester was also wonderful.

By far the best meal I have had in a long time. Service was top notch. Had my 3 kids with me and they treated us like royalty. Have to make a reservation!! Will be back.

The food is second to none. The flavors of every dish tie in perfectly, the portions are very generous even for a big boy such as myself. You will not leave hungry. Staff was very friendly took great care of us. Did I mention the food!! Every dish is a flavor adventure that will leave you wanting more. Cannot say enough good things about this establishment.

Went here for drinks and appetizer. Was not busy at 4:00 so we were seated right away. Our server was very friendly and made good recommendations. Had a drink called Lyceum Cocktail. They donate $2.00 of the cost of the drink to the theater and you get a little colored rock candy swizzle stick. Cute. The appetizer was a special and not on the menu. It was a warm cheese stuffed jalapeño bread with a dipping sauce. Very cheesy and just enough jalapeño for a little heat. Portion was enough to share and very good. Very much suggest for a preshow place to visit. Would visit here again.

Came here with 10 old friends and Liz cooked us an unbelievable multi-course meal, with special alternatives for the one vegan in our group. Meal was delicious, fresh, creative and cooked to perfection. I would recommend Catalpa to anyone anywhere.

Liz prepared a wonderful tasting menu for our group of 10 today. The food was wonderful - definitely prepared with love. It is obvious that she has a real passion for food. This is a restaurant truly worth visiting.

This place is beyond amazing!! My husband and I came to visit after one of the Arrowrock Lyceum shows and we were just blown away by the food and hospitality! The owner/ chef kept the place open for us to eat!!! Everything we had tonight went above and beyond!! A MUST in Missouri!!!

The restaurant where the owner feels like she's better than everybody else and isn't afraid to tell everybody! $45 minimum and don't don't. you dare tell the owner that you have a problem or she'll snap! Not a place for kids!

We used to enjoy the restaurant with Family when they were in town. It was a great place with good food. We went in recently with them and our kids and the hostess at the front made us feel unwelcome and as if we couldn't afford to eat there. She made it very obvious to everyone around that we likely couldn't afford it and wouldn't want to pay for our kids. Will never be going back here, very disappointing. Elitist weirdos in the middle of nowhere go figure.

We absolutely knew we were in for an amazing experience at the 7 course wine pairing dinner at Catalpa. We've always enjoyed this gem of a restaurant hidden in mid MO (been 3x this summer). Chef/Owner Liz and her staff make sure to prepare and serve every course to the highest standards. We love the friendly visits to our table to tell us about the food and its preparation. Its like eating at a dinner party at your bestie's house. I have never had pheasant (until the pairing dinner) and I must say it was delicious! The wines were absolutely delightful and perfectly complimented the menu. Highly recommend Catalpa if you are looking for a experience AND an outstanding meal.

I had the best meal I've had in ages when we dined at Catalpa and I can't wait to go again! The roast duck with cherry port wine sauce was fabulous, but I also loved the fresh salad served with pickled beets, wedge of cheese & a fabulous house made cracker. We had the gooseberry tart for dessert but she changes choices often--I don't think you can go wrong! Definitely worth a little travel time for a delicious dinner and slowed down dining experience.

This is not a restaurant to take your kids to! they have a policy that states you need to get an entree or at least spend close to $45 and there's a $25 share fee if you split a meal !it's not a laid-back atmosphere and that owner seems to be brash and over the top! if you have any kind of problem with your meal she takes it on the chin takes it personal! I would prefer to have a much more laid-back easy going atmosphere where if I had an issue I felt like it could be addressed without feeling attacked!
