When we stay in Washington, Missouri, our winery hopping itinerary goes: (1) Montelle Winery, (2) Augusta Winery Tasting Room, (3) Noboleis Vineyards, (4) Balducci Vineyards and (5) Blumenhof Winery. Starting off our day at Montelle. Montelle is possibly my favorite winery in the Augusta Missouri area for their ambiance. Their standing tasting bar meets an extra large patio area that looks over stunning views. We typically start at their tasting bar and then purchase a glass of wine to take onto the patio to enjoy their live music. In my opinion, they usually have the best live music of the day. They also have a great food menu with shareable snacks. We often see a private party - such as a Bridal Shower - while we are there, as well as couples dancing to the live music. Highly recommend this winery stop if you're in the area!

Used to go a lot and always bring out of town guests but the wine is not as good, the food has always been just ok, they stopped allowing dogs on the patio (big one for us) and now taking it trees! Shame

This winery is on top of a hill and has a gorgeous view of the surrounding trees and land. When you enter the building, there is a tasting bar, then behind it is the check out counter. The whole process of paying and ordering was a little confusing but we eventually figured it out. At the checkout counter you can place your food order, pay for wine samples, and buy bottles of wine (and other drinks they have in upright coolers behind the checkout area). They have chilled bottles of wine if you are wanting to drink them there, and they also have non chilled ones if you are getting them to go. For the food, they give you a buzzer, and then you go to the pick up window the pick it up when it is ready. Ours took about 30 minutes. There are glasses at the check out to use to drink your wine from. I had to ask about them, the cashier did not offer them to me. Also at the check out counter you can pay for samples, then you take your receipt to the sample bar and show them and they will give your samples. It's 10 dollars for 4 samples. There are lots of seats out on their decks. They have limited covered seating. The views are gorgeous. Once you get your food and wine you go find a seat. Seats are just first come first serve. Just look for an open one or look for people that are about to leave. We brought our wine out to the table and wondered why we didn't get one of those ice bucket to keep the wine chilled. Later we saw that another table got them from somewhere inside and found out they were 2.50 a piece. As for food, I got the house salad and we got 2 of the baked brie for the table. We also got the jumbo pretzel that had cheese cubes, grapes and salami in the inner open sections of the pretzel. Everyone at the table also ordered sandwiches and salads for themselves. It was definitely enough food for a group of 7 (too much! Lol) I loved the baked Brie and the jumbo pretzel dipped in the cheese was soooo good! There were a lot of bees and my friends boyfriend got stung! They would not leave us alone! If you have food, you will have bees visiting your table.

We went here on a nice fall day for a snack and a bottle of wine. They have a nice setup that is easy to get along with. The people are friendly and efficient. They have a nice selection of their wines. I especially like their Nortons, which is kind of unique and I haven't seen it in other areas of the US. Supposedly the Norton grape was grown by Thomas Jefferson on his estate at Monticello, but I feel that may be a legend.I am disappointed that the trees on the deck are now gone. It does enhance the view, but on sunny days the lack of shade can be oppressive. There are umbrellas on some of the tables, but not enough to make us want to visit during the heat of the summer. Overall though, we love this winery.

We didn't get a chance to visit Montelle last year. We were shocked at the lack of trees around the patio now. Who was the genius who made this decision? That was always the big reason we would choose Montelle over some of the other wineries in the area. I guess we'll go to other more shaded options moving forward. That's a real shame. It just doesn't look or feel the same. In the name of progress, you made it worse. Nice going, guys!

STILL one of my favorite wineries because I LOVE their wine. Their Himmelswein is ALWAYS my go to. I order food and find my spot to post up. I come here at least once a year. Staff are always friendly. Sometimes I make it more often. Most times I come alone on my birthday and use it as an opportunity to reflect over the past year. Looking out at the views and just thinking and being grateful. Another trip to Montelle and year in the books.

The view was gorgeous, and the service was great! We did a wine and spirit tasting, and our guy did an outstanding job in describing each and providing some history behind each tasting. He also explained the trolley, which we will definitely do on our next trip.

The ambience of this place has been destroyed! The trees cut down and replaced by umbrellas. What a shame... $8 for a can of beer, ice wine I've bought for years no longer available. Sadly this won't be a destination we seek out any longer.

Montelle Winery is a beautiful hilltop winery from the large black entrance gate to the breathtaking views of the Missouri River Valley. Since we had just left Defiance Ridge Winery, we just enjoyed the views of the rolling hills and spectacular decks overlooking the valley below. The attached decks are perfect for cocktail hour. They offer a large number of musical and other types of events on the Terrance. I've attached the schedule under photos for September through November 2023. The Tasting Room is open all year long, and the Parliament Room is climate controlled, has its own restrooms, an attached deck with a gorgeous view, and a fireplace that creates a cozy atmosphere. Located off the main tasting room, it's easy to order a bottle of wine, grab a bite to eat at Klondike Cafe, and still be able to have a great day regardless of the time of year or the weather conditions. The Parliament Room is perfect year round for events and can host up to 100 people. So many types of events would be a success at the winery. I'm happy we had the opportunity to check out Montelle Winery. I look forward to returning soon.

We visited Montelle winery and it was a well worth visit. The Winery is not far from St. Louis and the drive over is nice. The views from top of Montelle winery are incredible. We ordered a bottle of Montelle river country red wine and it was delicious. They charged for a ice bucket to keep the wine cold, so definitely ask before what free vs. paid. The winery restaurant serves flatbread pizza’s, sandwiches and assorted snacks. We ordered the veggie three cheese pizza and a southwestchicken wrap. The food was nothing remarkable but the visit was more for wine. There was live music which made the visit memorable and relaxing. Plenty of seating space and parking.

the VIEW. Seriously, you should check it out. Wine? Drinkable, Snacks? Questionable, Service? Meh, Drive out there? Long. But it's all worth it to enjoy a bottle with your family/friends on that patio.

Rude staff can’t tell time. The place stays open till 6. The menu states the kitchen closes one half hour prior to closing. There were three other parties there when I showed up. I went in and was not greeted by the staff but was asked, “do you need something?” I asked if I could order some food and I was told the kitchen closes at 5. (It was 4:50). I noted that it was not what the web site stated and was simply told the kitchen is already closed “sor-ry”Yet another Hoffmann FAILURE!
