Yep, it was great. Excellent food and service. Don't come here because it makes it tough for the rest of us to get a reservation.

A quaint location in a small historic village that excels in tastes, textures and experience! Enjoy a snack followed by three or five courses. Set aside two hours and breathe the ambience of antique Missouri paired with locale based farm to table a la innovative Provence/'Merican/Global fair. Fun and quiet, take a little journey set aside the time enjoy the craft from this kitchen!

This place is absolutely amazing! We stayed in a bed and breakfast just a block away in downtown Augusta and what a gem to have right there! First off Dylan the bartender (and so much more) greets you as soon as you walk in and from there the service never lets up! We were lucky enough to get the cozy little what we called the chefs table right near the bar and kitchen. We highly recommend asking for this seat because you get preferential treatment for sure! We did the 5 course tasting menu and were blown away. So reasonable priced for the high quality of food and service. I’ve eaten at some 3 Star Michelin restaurants and not had as amazing of a meal! We will definitely be back over and over again what an amazing experience!

Portions were so small for what you pay. It was more art work. Took amazing pictures of the way it looked. Food was good what little I could eat, but hard to manage food allergies for myself. Service was really good.

I cannot rave about this experience enough. I took my wife here for her 30th birthday with a couple of friends and family and have never had another culinary experience that comes close to this; Chef Philip and his team absolutely knocked it out of the park. The food was top notch: creative, thought out, sourced locally, fresh, light, and the most delicious combinations of flavors & textures. I could adjective vomit all-day long, but the only way for you to understand and appreciate it is to book a reservation NOW! Cheers, Root Food + Wine, team, thank you for your hospitality.

We had a reservation tonight for 10. To be honest, I didn’t have high hopes when we pulled up to the modest establishment in Missouri. My family is a foodie family comprised of a chef/restauranteur and many amateur chefs so expectations run higher than normal. However, once we were seated and I read the menu my attitude quickly changed. This Chef knows what he’s doing! When our server Zach described each dish our mouths watered and everyone was excited with anticipation. The beet and pecan taco amuse-bouche was phenomenal and I knew we were at the right place. The 3 course dinner was executed perfectly and the cantaloupe, black pepper sorbet intermezzo was an unexpected highlight of the meal. Not to mention, the beautifully crafted cosmo cocktail from Dylan that was a show stopper when the bubble bursted and smoke filled the table. Overall I’d give this place an 11/10. Food and service are A+. It’s a hidden gem that you should run to. Your palate will thank you. Next time I’m in Missouri, I’ll definitely be back. Thanks for a wonderful evening!

Wow! We enjoyed a unique and delicious 5-course dinner and loved it! The courses weee scrumptious and the presentation lovely. I’d highly recommend Root to anyone with a well developed palette looking for a new adventure.

Well I’m sorry to say this was a total let down from all other reviews. For a place that a reservation is coveted, you wouldn’t have known that on Sat 10/7/23. Our party of 6 had a 12:30pm reservation. We arrived at exactly 12:30 or even a few minutes prior as we are very respectful of timing for such a small venue. To our surprise the host said our table would be ready in just a moment because he just had a walk in with a party of 6 get seated a few minutes before us. A walk in? Needless to say it was more like “Root canal” aching for this disaster to be over with. By 2:20 we still didn’t have our main course. Almost two hours into this “experience” by the time we left it was almost 3pm and that was with our deserts packed to go! When making reservations for such a small place , if there are issues with staffing and “walk ins” the simple courtesy to contact the person who made the reservations and explain your issues we could have just appreciated that and made other lunch plans. Instead….root canal.

We read reviews about the creative, tasty cuisine of this hidden gem. We came for lunch, sat out on the patio. Locally sourced products prepared in traditional dishes with a unique twist.. Went with the 3 course menu which included a cheeseburger option for the entree which was outstanding. Decent wine selection as well.

Root Food + Wine was a journey of flavor combinations that I never thought of together. They work amazingly well together. Smooth and crunchy, salty and sweet, popcorn and chicken?… delicious! Everyone in our party had the seven course chefs tasting menu. Kirsten, our server, described the complex taste revelations as “a party in your mouth” and she was right. We loved the vintage look and welcoming staff. This is a top notch must try experience. All farm to table. Their sources are mostly local and all listed on the front of the menu. All of our drinks looked like works of art and, as the food, we’re all exemplary taste combinations. I’ve included, too many, pictures of everything we had. It’s easy to see why this up and coming chef is winning awards!

Wow! Wow! Wow!This place...simply amazing!!It's located in Augusta, small quaint old home converted into a restaurant. Make a reservation, as the place is pretty small.Make sure you go early and belly up the bar...you'll be greeted by an impressively nice hostess and a first class mixologist who will mix up some the best drinks ever!! The penicillin is an absolute must have!!! Refreshing and the finest of concoctions! Moved from there into the dining room...4-5 tables in the old sitting room of the renovated home. Went with the 7 course for me and my bride...highly recommend!! The chef (who I've been told has won several awards) will likely come to serve you an array of delectable small plates. Everything from a cold soup, to a couple protein's and finished with some extravagant deserts. Make sure you make time...it's more than a meal, it's an experience!! Had a delightful French press coffee, with real heavy cream...was the perfect finishing touch. So many added surprises, served up with a staff who I believe are truly glad you are there...they evidently love what they do and again, bring you a culinary experience that is worth traveling 45 minutes to experience!!I can't say enough...you MUST and I mean MUST...do this!!Thanks you for such an amazing dinner!!! I'll be back with friends soon. Awesome time, fun and what an experience!!

Amazing!! We both agree it’s best meal we’ve ever had! Such creative combinations of seasonal fruits, herbs, oils, meat, sweets (basil ice cream, cucumber sorbet). And lots of delectable surprises along the meal! Fantastic friendly service! If you don’t dine here you’re missing a hidden treasure! 7-2023
