We had a beautiful wedding for 80 at The Venue at Stockton Lake, and Hog Tide Bar-B-Que catered the event. We chose them simply by googling bar-b-que places in the area and loved the food when we met with them for a consultation. They showed up right on time to the wedding, and they were all so friendly and professional. The food was attractively displayed and was hot and delicious! They cleaned up quickly and left the Venue kitchen better than when they arrived. I should mention that most of my brothers and sisters live out of state, and when they come to Kansas City, they always want to try a different Bar-B-Que place. It's a thing with them for the last 15 years, and then they critique it like they are food critics or something. My brother-in-law said this was probably the best bar-b-que he had ever had in his life. I had many guests talk about the food and how great it was, and where did we get that? My other brother talked about how moist the smoked chopped chicken was, and the chopped brisket was supreme. The baked beans and macaroni and cheese was also a big hit, and the corn bread melted in your mouth. Guest after guest brought up the great food as they said good night. The wedding was just as we hoped it would be: elegant, welcoming, and a great night for our friends and family. Hog Tide Bar-B-Que helped make that happen, and we are so glad we went with Hog Tide Bar-B-Que! I should also had the price was more than fair!!!

Have driven past this place for years and always said we should stop and eat, but it was never dinner time. Made the trip down specifically to have dinner and we are not disappointed! Hubby had brisket with onion strings and cole slaw. I chose the chicken with fried okra and mac n cheese. Everything was delicious. Meat was tender, with just the right amount of smoke. Service was quick and super friendly. Will definitely make the drive again.

The only complaint that I have is I couldn't eat it all! Very good food! The owner was there and proved to me that he really cared about us! The fact that he played football at Alabama University helped!

Great atmosphere but I thought the food was just ok. I had the 3 meat platter with pulled pork, sausage, and smoked chicken with beans and fries. The wife and my son had pulled sandwiches with fries. Food was hot and it was juicy but very little flavor without having to sauce it. I don't prefer sauce on anything and I even had to add it for flavor. PS you could tell that the pork was smoked but the smoked chicken looked baked and not smoked. No smoke indicated on it at all. Good overall experience and would eat again but needs more flavor.
