Christina was wonderful! I appreciated that she was very honest about flavors and seemed to genuinely care about what we would like. She asked questions and we ended up with food we adored! The strawberry crostini and lemon ricotta pasta were the real stars of the show! Thank you!

Our server Tarn was amazing. It would give a rating of 12 if they would let me. Food and atmosphere is great.

We stumbled upon this place for my mom 69th birthday. Did not disappoint at all! Yarn was amazing as our server, quick and attentive. Hats off to the chefs! We have Watermelon salad, eggplant Parmesan and Baked Lobster Mac n cheese… and our taste buds were in heaven! Definitely will be back!

Fun atmosphere

We recently dined at this Italian restaurant and enjoyed a mostly delicious experience. To start, the fresh bread was warm and satisfying a perfect way to begin the meal. The arancini was also a standout, with a great twist: it had more meat than rice, which gave it a heartier and more flavorful bite than the usual version.

The berry salad was another highlight light, refreshing, and ideal for a hot day. I also tried the prosciutto pasta, which was creamy, savory, and well-balanced, with a rich flavor that didn’t feel too heavy.

However, the calamari missed the mark. It lacked seasoning, and the batter was too greasy, which didn’t pair well with the squid. I’d recommend they rework the ingredients or preparation to better match the quality of their other dishes.

One thing to note: service was a bit slow, so be sure to allow extra time if you’re dining in, especially during busy hours. I also recommend making a reservation, as the place tends to fill up quickly.

Overall, a charming spot with standout dishes, friendly vibes, and just a couple of areas for improvement.

We had a wonderful dinner on the gorgeous outdoor patio and it was just perfect. We came close to close but did not feel rushed at all. Tarn made our evening so enjoyable and was absolutely terrific.

Food and service were absolutely fantastic. The sea scallops were perfectly cooked, and the tiramisu was an amazing finish to the night. Special thank you to our waitresses Aria and Tarn!

very attentive staff. We had a change in our reservation and, despite the fact that they were busy, they accommodated us on the fly without a lot of anxiety.

Main course was overcooked and didn't have the sauce that is standard with the menu description. Server not attentive and had no connection with table. Wasn't worth the 40 mile drive. Disappointing

It was a wonderful meal with great service and great value. The only negative was the noise level... Very noisy but we were in the bar area. Definitely will go back.

The service was so slow and not attentive. A new server who did her best but had no extra help. The hostess came to apologize about the slow service or lack of service after sitting for 10 minutes - where was the manager? It took over twenty minutes to get our drinks. Had to ask about bread. Salads came out before the appetizers. Our waters were empty and the menus were left on the table, so we placed them on the chair - we couldn't wait to leave after two hours on a Wednesday evening with a reservation. The server was very apologetic and did comp our drinks, but we won't go back.

GIO MODERN ITALIAN is the place to dine for any occasion in Chesterfield Commons. Gio and Jess have continued their excellent variety of food and beverages, at a reasonable price. They offer a wide selection of wines, cocktails, beverages, and anything ordered will be prepared with the diner's concern for quality, taste, and appearance of the food items. Servers/staff are professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. Excellent Whisky Shrimp and Calamari to start off the dining experience. All entrees, Steak Salad, Salmone Scottato, Scallops, and Medaglion Bordelaise were delicious, cooked perfectly. Have been dining here since original opening and still take family and friends for a terrific dining experience.
