Not what was expected given the prior reviews. Perhaps it was an off night. While they have a very nice facility, the food and wine selection is more limited than expected and quality is only average.
Best meal I've had in St. Louis restaurant in a very long time. Had the French dip with arugula salad topped with pistachios and goat cheese. Server was helpful and attentive. Elegant, relaxed Atmosphere. I will definitely tell my friends and be back next time. I'm in St. Louis.
Came here because the owner used to own Balaban's in the CWE 38 years ago, which was our all time favorite. Sadly, no comparison. Just wasn't good, sorry we missed other places for our short visit.
Absolutely love this place. They have great drinks, awesome staff, and such good food. I have tried a lot of different dishes and they never disappoint.

Herbie’s is one of the best restaurants in Clayton! It’s perfect for any occasion - date night, work meal, happy hour.
The menu is filled with delicious staples, like Truffle Fries and Brussels Sprouts, and seasonal items, like Coq Au Vin! Be sure to save room for their bread pudding!!

Beignets were some type of fried bread. Not good, but everything else was superb. Carnivore omelette and crab Benedict were delicious. Recommend the chocolate bread pudding with carmel. Ben was the best!!!

Went to Herbie's and walked out after receiving our food. Spoke to the manager first. Everything was bad. Sat next to a large loud party, we moved. Service slow. Two items on the menu we ordered, out of and the beignet “machine” didn't work right. Of course we special ordered a couple things. Neither was correct. Scrambled eggs looked like they literally were just cracked open. Walked across the street to City Coffeehouse & Creperie. WONDERFUL!!!
My bestie and I met there for brunch. Our waiter, Ben, was great - excellent service and he didn't come to the table TOO much. I really appreciate that. My order (a pancake, sausage and a scrambled egg a la carte) was delicious. More importantly, my food was hot when it was brought out. I do think the menu is a bit overpriced, but it is Clayton, and all restaurants are overpriced (just my opinion). I will go back because the food was good, but I'll have to pick a less-popular time because parking was a pain. But I enjoyed it and was satisfied. Good job, Herbie's.
Went for brunch and was underwhelmed by the Crab Benedict, Breakfast Burrito and Biscuit & Gravy. Coffee is not good, either. Service was fantastic though. We will try again for a different meal.

It was really good, although no choices for additional veggies. The salmon was amazing! No baked potato option, only fried shoestring potatoes. The blue cheese olives were ‘off' in the dirty martini...they were tough. Service was good.
Looking for the perfect spot to unwind with great food and even better vibes? We found it yesterday! The outdoor patio was the perfect setting to enjoy delicious appetizers, cocktails and fantastic weather. Our server Ben! was prompt, friendly, and spot-on with recommendations, making the experience even better. From start to finish, it was a memorable dining experience that we’ll definitely return to!

This was my first time at Herbie's since they moved to Clayton. I had high hopes, but it's just not the same. Years ago, you could count on a fantastic meal with exceptional attention to detail. There used to be bread service, crisp tablecloths, and sparkling silverware. That is no more. The cocktails were fine, but didn't live up to the menu hype. The fried Brussels sprouts appetizer was decent. My daughter got the steak frites. The steak was tender, but she ordered medium and it was very rare, and it had not been seasoned. The fries were decent but not like they used to be, again having little flavor. I got the scallops. They came literally floating in what was supposed to be risotto, but was better described as rice soup. The risotto was absolutely terrible. It was literally water with rice, and had zero flavor, not a hint of wine or lemon or salt or Parmesan. The scallops were underdone, full of sand (nearly every bite,) and flavorless. Not even a hint of salt. I forced myself to eat 1 1/2 of the four scallops and then had to push the fish aside. If I return to give them a second chance, it will only be for lunch to see how that goes. Very disappointing.
The vibe is perfect for a date night or anniversary celebration. It's a big space and was very empty inside for a Saturday 6-8pm, however we did not mind. Turns out everyone was outside on the patio. The waiter, Harvey, was very nice and accommodating.
We ordered the "Margherita Flatbread" as an appetizer to share, however, very surprised it was served on a cracker with no basil... very disappointing as it doesn't state this on the menu. For $15, I expect it to be on a dough at least.
Dinner was good. I enjoyed the "Honey Roasted Airline Chicken." Pesto was fresh tasting. And my partner had the "Herbies Burger." Harvey let him try their specialty bbq sauce with it and it was amazing. Fries are good.
Overall an okay experience. It didn't WOW me but we had a great night.
