Kinda of a cool theme based around the chess game. Service was good, but had to look for our server more than once. Food presentation was really nice, french toast was approximately 2" thickness but could have used a bit more fruit. The Mexican presentation was good and tortilla crispy. I felt it was lacking in seasonings. We would go back and try different dish again.

I wish I had read the reviews on the avocado toast before I went there OMG, how you call that avocado toast I have no idea, it was too thick slices on top of each other it looked more like a sandwich, entirely too much balsamic reduction, how can you call it toast when there's no toasting to it!? Could barely taste the avocado and what I could taste wasn't very good it tasted like some frozen avocados that they mashed up with that chemical taste to it, very thinly spread... The over easy eggs on top they managed to nail, yay! I barely ate any of it except the eggs, wish I had ordered the huevos rancheros.... I could go in the kitchen for them and show them how to do it and it would be five stars, it's such an easy dish I just don't know how they think that is good or tasty or remotely yummy?

Never been here before and I’m always a sucker for breakfast food- no matter what time of day. I was greeted by smiling faces and felt like a regular customer the entire time.

I opted for the omelette with a few goodies inside and thoroughly enjoyed it! The hash browns that came with the omelette were amazing, some of the best I’ve ever had (light and delicate, not crunchy or burnt). I’d gladly return again and again. :-)

Tanesha is great. Very friendly and attentive to her customers. I also enjoyed the food very fresh and hearty portions. I recommend if you’re looking for a nice breakfast or brunch.

Great themed restaurant with an original take on food. Very clean environment. Waitress seemed a little cranky but did well. Restroom signs could have been better placed. Kids had fun and there was a patio to sit outside. Mimosa flight pared well with the food.

Order the biscuits and sausage gravy. The menu said they were smothered in sausage gravy. And they were not there was barely any gravy. And I could not taste or see any sausage it looked like black pepper gravy to me.

Not what I expected. The service was not great and the food was terrible. The mimosas were good that’s it.

Stopped in for breakfast with the wife. It was seat yourself and we found a spot we liked. As I walked in I noticed the theme of chess everywhere. Aesthetic was nice and the place was clean.

Waitress was nice enough to get us our menus and a water bottle for the table. However after we ordered I felt like the lack of needing to give refills prompted a much longer delay to her coming back to the table to eventually get boxes and our check.

The food looked appealing and was plated decently. I’m no food critic, but my French toast left me longer for more. There wasn’t a lot of flavor in the toast or even the syrup. A bit bland overall. My wife’s skillet was pretty good. No complaints and the eggs were poached well (as ordered).

Overall a positive experience but was not wowed enough to justify coming back before trying out other places in the area first.

My first experience at this place was not the best. I will say the wait staff was nice and the restaurant was clean. But the food does not match the rest. I ordered the avacado toast with over medium eggs, and the eggs were over easy with no seasoning what so ever. I couldn't taste the alvacado spread at all. I decided to order the bbq chicken flatbread pizza, and it wasn't even a flatbread. It was a thin crust pizza and the chicken was super dry. I may try the central Westend location but definitely not in a hurry to do so.

We couldn't decide where to go because I wanted breakfast and she wanted lunch. we saw this place called Kingside Diner, a modern diner with a chess theme (interesting) who did both, and had some really delicious sounding meals, but there was one dish there called The Johnny Cash, and that settled it -- Maple cashew butter, bananas and extra thick cut bacon, sandwiched between two THICK pieces of French toast (like Texas toast thick, it was huge) I had to try it..it was AMAZING!
There was a bit too much maple cashew butter, but I scraped off what I didnt want. I was stuffed! My wife got the BLTA - Bacon, lettuce, fried green tomato, avocado, garlic aioli, on toasted bread. She said the fried green tomato was too dm good. The staff were all extra nice, and service was very fast, like amazingly fast. Anytime we come back to St. Louis we will be definitely be stopping here to eat.
